Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon Chapter 1157 - 1154: Then We’ll Fall In Love

"I was enlightened by two distinct paths... Survival through combat and survival through procreation."
Pamela proceeded to clarify her statement, and the reason she desired his offspring finally became clear to Corey.
According to her, the universe is in a state of perpetual self-correction, weeding out flawed designs, stagnant bloodlines, and inefficient structures.
The universe demands evolution from everything within it, particularly sentient life. If a design is found to be weak or lacking, the universe will attempt to rectify that failure.
For living creatures, there exists a proven method of evolution beyond simply absorbing the mana of the universe.
Survival.
And there were two primary strategies one could employ to survive.
Survival by battle.
Or.
Survival by procreation.
If a person is thrust into an environment that threatens their life without killing them instantly, they will eventually adapt to the pressure.
Or.
Their descendants will be the ones to adapt.
Through survival by battle, the body is refined by every conflict. The soul is forced to rewrite its own essence during every brush with death. This struggle causes their mana pathways to thicken, their Will to sharpen, and their very genes to evolve.
Pamela explained that any race living in peace will stagnate, and a race that is too well-protected will eventually see its path of power decline.
Conversely, a race that is hunted will always find a way to evolve. Depending on their inherent potential, it might take millions, billions, or even trillions of years, but evolution is inevitable as long as they avoid total extinction.
These words from Pamela shook Corey to his core in a way he couldn't quite define.
He wasn't sure why she was sharing this philosophy, but it struck a chord deep within him.
It was a feeling that briefly pulled his thoughts back to his previous life.
While Pamela was simply explaining how bearing his child could help her race evolve, she was unaware that her words were also aiding Corey.
He also harbored the desire to evolve... No... to transform his race into something far superior.
And what if this concept was meant to be a fundamental part of his own master plan?
Corey hadn't been fully focused on Pamela’s words initially, but now she had his undivided attention.
In the past, Pamela had subconsciously utilized survival by battle to evolve her race on multiple occasions.
However, after her time in the Forge and reflecting on the secrets Corey had shared, she had conceived another strategy for her race’s evolution.
Procreation.
When an individual hits their limit and can no longer evolve, their instincts drive them to procreate.
This form of survival was different; even if only a tiny fragment of the original self continued on, it was still a successful survival strategy.
Ultimately, it served as a means to endure.
Without procreation, a race is doomed to vanish.
If an individual breeds with someone of comparable strength, the odds of the offspring experiencing an evolutionary leap are decent.
If they breed with someone significantly more powerful, those chances of evolution skyrocket.
However, Pamela didn't just want the child to be a vessel for survival; she intended to use Corey’s innate energies to trigger her own evolution.
Because the gap between Corey’s racial grade and her own was so vast, their child would either match Corey’s grade or, at the very least, inherit the finest traits of both lineages.
For Pamela, this meant her body would be forced to instinctively evolve just to survive the process of carrying Corey’s child.
This was its own form of survival by battle, but in this scenario, her own body would be fighting to survive the very life growing within her.
To avoid death during childbirth, her body would be compelled to grow, strengthen, and evolve—and that was exactly her goal.
Carrying Corey’s child was incredibly risky due to their racial disparity. If she were a standard Tier 0 human, her mortality rate would be 99.999999999999%.
She would require immense luck, a blessing from the Heavens, or the help of a supreme being.
Yet, she was prepared to gamble.
Knowing that there were powers beyond the gods and the universe, and feeling limited by her current race, she was determined to take the risk.
If she didn't fix this limitation in her current realm, changing her race would only become more difficult as her Tier rose and she climbed higher on the path of power.
After Corey finished listening to her reasoning, he replied.
"No. I’m still not letting you have my child for that reason."
Pamela let out a sigh and shook her head.
"I expected that answer, and I understand why you said it."
"Good. Then you understand it’s not up for debate. You aren't having my child just for the sake of evolution."
As Pamela prepared to retort, Corey held up a finger, silencing her.
"Firstly, wanting a child just to gain power is completely wrong. A child should be wanted for themselves, to build a family with a partner you love."
"Secondly, many gods are aware of me. Some despise me and want me dead. Do you honestly think they would spare my child? It would bring more chaos than you can imagine."
"Furthermore, entities from beyond our universe might be targeting me soon. I am going to have incredibly dangerous enemies very shortly."
"Do you really believe fatherhood is a priority for me right now? Especially when there is no love between us?"
Pamela simply rolled her eyes and answered calmly.
"Then we’ll just have to fall in love."
