As Shota injected divine energy into the red gem in the flame elementals' crystal chamber, the elders closely monitored its growth. On the fourth day, the elder announced it was large enough, exciting the others who quickly gathered to prepare a ceremony using the surrounding magma through special one-way openings. Despite the odd setup, the elder guided Shota to a strangely designed crystal observation room attached to the chamber, assuring him it was safe to watch from there before sealing him in and returning to the preparations.

When the elder of the flame elementals reached the red gem, it bowed toward the gem before spinning around.

The flame elementals lingering inside the crystal chamber followed the same paths as their companions to exit the chamber and plunge into the magma.

Now submerged in the magma, they all directed their gaze toward the red gem positioned at the center.

At that moment, their movements took on an unusual pattern.

Upon careful observation, it looked as though they were executing a form of dance within the magma—a sight not common by any means, since only beings composed of fire could perform such a feat.

Had they not been formed from flames, dancing freely in the magma would have been impossible for them.

Throughout their dance, the red gem displayed no immediate response.

That situation shifted abruptly when a glow suddenly emerged from the gem's core.

Though distinct from the rock pillar's reaction in the rock elementals' village, notable parallels existed between the events.

From my perspective, the primary similarity I noted was the aura of creation-attributed divine energy.

It was straightforward to recognize this as the red gem's expected reply to the ritual they enacted, and equally clear that the gem would produce something as a result.

As the light intensified steadily, it eventually unleashed an emanation all around.

A crimson liquid emerged from the red gem, which came as no shock whatsoever. Clearly, the flame elementals sought one specific resource from this gem.

Its very placement within the volcano provided ample indication of what the gem contained.

The release began sluggishly, but soon a robust current built up, with greater volumes of magma pouring from the red gem. As it flooded the crystal chamber, the magma surged toward the wall-embedded tunnels.

Upon arriving at the tunnels, the magma was expelled from the area.

The crystal chamber's layout differed markedly from my earlier assumptions about its function.

Rather than ejecting through the wide opening at the volcano's summit, the magma distributed to various sections of the region via the tunnels.

In essence, those tunnels served as a distribution system right from the beginning.

The notion that the tunnels doubled as entry routes to this site felt odd.

Still, the flame elementals showed no concern for the magma anyway. Even at present, they swirled and glided through it without the slightest unease.

Another wonder that struck me was the crystal's impressive strength.

More accurately, the crystal's superior insulation qualities amazed me.

Magma streamed directly before my eyes, yet I felt not a trace of heat.

The crystal appeared to block all the magma's warmth from reaching me.

As the ritual proceeded a little longer, the flame elementals seemed pleased with the magma quantity the red gem had generated. They then gradually halted their dance, bringing the ceremony to an end.

Once they came to a gentle stop, the red gem underwent a similar change.

The gem, previously dispensing magma, slowly ceased its production.

With the magma flow ended, the propelling force directing it into the tunnels vanished too.

Magma lacked high fluidity inherently.

Given its thickness, the magma started to pool and thicken within the crystal chamber.

At this sight, a wry smile formed on my lips, tinged with mild concern.

This development clearly presented an issue.

The accumulating magma made departing from here seem difficult.

Part of me suspected the flame elementals had brought me here to confine me indefinitely, but their following behavior swiftly allayed that fear.

Noticing the magma settling in the chamber, they suddenly darted away from it. They appeared to ascend toward the volcano's peak, as if abandoning the site.

However, they returned shortly afterward through the tunnels accessing the crystal chamber.

On their return, they promptly widened all the chamber's apertures. Some magma clung to these spots, which swiftly drained out.

With those sections cleared, the flame elementals began nudging the magma toward the openings.

Clearly, they utilized the openings to tidy up the chamber's interior.

"So that's what those are for..." I found myself thinking upon witnessing this.

Grasping the design became unavoidable after seeing it, yet I couldn't shake the doubt about whether it was truly optimal.

I'm certain superior design methods existed...

Like avoiding enclosure of the red gem in such a crystal chamber...

That said, I wasn't exactly an authority on the subject anyway.
