Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2018: Turning to the god’s messengers
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Once the monster situation had been resolved, nothing prevented our group from heading back to the Kite Kingdom.
Simultaneously, since there was no longer any need to take it slow, Klein and the royal guards began urging everyone to speed up the journey home without delay.
A wry smile formed on my lips as I listened to them, though I had no words to argue against their insistence.
Ultimately, we ended up racing through the skies, forcing me to confront the consequences head-on.
Or at least, that's what I anticipated happening, yet none of it unfolded as expected.
In the end, they simply overlooked me entirely.
Did this mean they were deliberately shunning me, or were they merely too occupied to bother with me?
Regardless of the reason, it felt like I'd been granted a temporary reprieve from whatever awaited.
That's precisely why I summoned all the god’s messengers I'd formed contracts with to gather before me.
For the moment, there was a particular question burning in my mind that I needed to pose to them.
"Have any of you met this qilin before or any qilin like this one?"
"Qilin? Is that what it’s called?" came the reply from the god’s messengers.
I wasn't taken aback by their reaction, knowing full well that qilins hadn't existed in the original game world this realm drew from. Even so, I kept silent and fixed them with a narrowed gaze.
My aim was to apply some pressure, hoping one might reveal something under the strain.
Yet what I observed instead was genuine bewilderment etched across the faces of these god’s messengers.
"There’s something familiar about this qilin, but I’ve certainly never met this creature before."
"It feels like they are similar to us, but there’s a strange feeling coming from them as well."
"I rarely meet others since I don’t go out, so there’s no point in asking me."
The final voice belonged, of course, to the reclusive hikkineet Queenie.
Still, their responses confirmed that not a single one among them held any knowledge about this qilin.
In truth, the qilin itself appeared somewhat intimidated by these god’s messengers.
Initially, the qilin showed curiosity toward them, drawn by a sense of familiarity. But by the conclusion, it seemed as if they were overwhelming it with their presence.
Given the qilin's youth, it made sense that it would feel daunted facing these ancient god’s messengers.
Nevertheless, the level of fear it displayed shouldn't have been so intense.
The qilin's behavior truly defied explanation.
Eventually, I set aside the subject, realizing the god’s messengers possessed no insights into the qilin. Shifting focus, I addressed the very purpose behind assembling them in the first place.
"Do any of you have a way of suppressing Dorothy’s power?"
This inquiry targeted the kraken and Queenie, who had arrived later on.
Lupus and Zeldir had already assured me of their ignorance before my departure, leaving these two as my only remaining options.
"I don’t think that I can do anything right now." The kraken replied, as it wasn't physically present alongside me.
Though the kraken had bound itself to me through a contract, it remained submerged to oversee affairs in the Merman Empire. They continued monitoring the ongoing changes there, after all.
Regarding Queenie, I harbored no real expectations from her.
I'd released her earlier to examine Dorothy, but she hadn't uncovered any viable means of assistance.
I'd hoped Queenie's boundless divine energy might provide the answer, yet it proved insufficient.
Thus, my current plan hinged on whether Max could craft something using Queenie’s divine energy to protect Dorothy in the interim.
It wasn't an ideal fix, but it stood as our sole option at present.
"Can I take a look at her?" The qilin inquired unexpectedly.
I hadn't brought the qilin to Dorothy yet, uncertain of its potential actions and wary of any adverse clash between their powers, which directly opposed one another.
But with no alternatives in sight...
"Alright, let’s go then." I agreed with a hesitant nod.
The qilin radiated assurance that it could help, though I held zero optimism for any real breakthrough.
That said, events soon took an astonishing turn.
"Dad, why are you back already?" Dorothy exclaimed in surprise, as I'd only just stepped out of her room moments earlier.
After a brief pause, I replied, "I brought a new friend for you."
I chose not to build up her expectations further, introducing the qilin simply as a fresh companion.
Freshly hatched, the qilin—despite its rapid mental growth—aligned roughly in age with Dorothy.
This arrangement might just safeguard them both effectively.
The qilin passed through the protective barrier and regarded Dorothy wordlessly.
Dorothy reciprocated the silent stare, encountering such a being for the first time.
Following their mutual gaze for several moments, the qilin abruptly lifted a hoof and directed it toward Dorothy.
Perplexed by the gesture, Dorothy nonetheless extended her hand to meet the qilin’s hoof.
In that instant of connection, a brilliant burst of light erupted between them.
