Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2015: A messenger to a demigod

"No, that's not possible," I declared firmly in the end.
There was a clear reason they were known as god's messengers to begin with.
Their bond—or more precisely, their link to the gods—allowed them to wield divine energy right from the start.
If this qilin claimed to be my messenger, that would basically mean I held the status of a god.
I was determined to reject that idea completely.
Becoming a god would bring along entirely different implications, after all.
The qilin didn't reply immediately, tilting its head in bewilderment at my words, but soon it appeared lost in thought over my answer. After pondering for a moment, it gave a deliberate nod.
This nod only deepened my confusion, yet I had to admit that some relief washed over me too.
But what the qilin uttered next wasn't comforting at all.
"I'm definitely your messenger, no question about it. You're not quite a full god yet, but calling you a demigod fits much better," the qilin stated cheerfully.
Then, in a playful tone, it added, "You could think of me as a demigod's messenger, then."
Clearly, this qilin refused to drop the idea of being tied to me, though I had no desire to accept that link. The bond I sensed between us was real, and it differed from the pacts I'd formed with other god's messengers.
Even so, I refused to accept it as truth.
The qilin's persistent behavior only made me more uneasy.
So, before it could speak further, I cut in abruptly, "You're still too young to grasp all this right now. We shouldn't treat it too seriously—you'll gradually come to understand what god's messengers truly are and who your actual god serves."
"I'm not too young; these memories are ingrained at a genetic level. I've known this since the instant I was born."
With that, the qilin gazed at me with a displeased expression.
Its stare resembled that of a child sulking at parents who wouldn't give in, almost like it saw me as a father denying his own kid.
In a sense, the tie between gods and their messengers mirrored a parent-child relationship.
But I wasn't that figure for this qilin.
As I mulled it over, I spotted the flaw in this whole situation.
"You accessed your power before our connection even formed. That means you're pulling strength from someone else."
"We've been connected since my birth," the qilin stubbornly maintained, no matter what I pointed out.
Handling this qilin was proving tough, especially with its spoiled-child antics right now. It behaved so much like my offspring in the way it kept addressing me.
I was even starting to overlook how recently this qilin had hatched.
To me, it came across as a long-established being, given how skillfully it debated my points.
Its initial arguments lacked polish, but it was clearly gaining more vocabulary as the exchange continued.
Realizing this, I couldn't help but marvel at the qilin's rapid development...
Actually, it felt noticeably heavier in my arms now.
Upon closer inspection of the qilin, I noticed it had grown larger than moments ago.
In the brief time since hatching, it was already expanding in size.
This discovery caught me off guard, but I managed to rationalize it eventually.
As a legendary creature, no one truly understood the qilin's growth patterns anyway. So, such swift progress could very well be typical for it.
Its ultimate growth rate and limits remained a mystery, since no one had ever studied a qilin up close. Back in my previous life, qilins were viewed as mythical entities.
Shaking off those thoughts, I shifted my focus to the monsters again.
The reinforcements from the racial alliance had taken care of most of the monsters by now, and they seemed to be simply watching the remaining ones.
These survivors were heavily mutilated, so the group appeared to be examining the mutations to understand their cause and mechanism.
"End their suffering. We've got another place to head to."
My words startled the racial alliance reinforcements, but they quickly refocused.
At my command, they lifted their weapons and finished off the lingering monsters before starting the cleanup.
Still, I had a different destination in mind first.
"Station some folks here for cleanup duty, and the rest follow me."
The racial alliance reinforcements showed surprise at this directive again, yet they obeyed without hesitation. As they did, their glances toward me carried curiosity about our next stop.
"We're going to the cave where they made their nest."
Upon hearing that, everyone grasped my intentions.
Truthfully, though, my main goal was to check the spot where the qilin egg had rested all along.
I hoped to uncover any hints regarding its background.
