Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 2009: Calling for backup

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
As the mysterious egg floated toward him, halting just out of reach, Shota reached out to grasp it amid Klein's urgent warning of approaching monsters. Securing the egg in his pocket, which abruptly ceased its alluring energy, Shota activated Joan's Mark of God, enveloping her in flames as she charged the cave's exit, scattering the beasts. When flanking monsters closed in, the egg unleashed a powerful wave of energy, repelling them without harm and revealing its self-awareness by bobbing in affirmation to Shota's astonished question. With the creatures dazed but recovering, the group prepared to flee the cavern.

Thanks to Joan's blazing assault forging ahead, our group finally burst free from the cave's depths.

Every now and then, bursts of energy from the egg surged out, scattering the pursuing monsters.

Not only did the initial batch of beasts spot the weakness in Joan's fiery advance, but others followed suit, attempting to flank the flames just like the first group.

Yet, not a single one managed to close in on us, thanks to the protective pulses emanating from the egg.

Whenever these waves struck them, the creatures displayed the identical bizarre response as the pioneers—almost like they relished the impact.

As if some thrilling essence lurked within those energy surges that struck them with delight.

The twisted expressions twisting their faces were the last thing I ever wanted to witness...

Once we emerged from the cavern, I wasted no time in questioning, "Did you call for reinforcements yet?"

Klein nodded affirmatively, then gestured toward a spot and replied, "They'll approach from over there."

I gave a quick nod back and commanded, "Move out!"

At my order, Klein and his royal guards urged their wyverns onward to blaze a trail, while positioning themselves to encircle and shield me completely.

Now that the baffling mystery had been resolved, it looked like they were reclaiming their commanding roles.

I had no objections, as there was a personal task I needed to handle.

"What exactly are you?" I inquired of the egg hovering silently at my side.

A wave of unease washed over me right after posing the question, since chatting with an egg that couldn't reply felt downright silly.

True to form, the egg offered zero reply.

It quivered slightly at my words, yet showed no signs of further action—after all, how could such an object truly answer back?

Thus, I began pondering alternative methods for us to connect.

But abruptly, a distraction yanked my focus away from the egg once more.

The feeling started faint and odd, yet it intensified rapidly until it demanded full attention.

Most peculiar was the origin of this pull.

Turning to face that source, I couldn't help furrowing my brow at the odd transformation overtaking the monsters in pursuit.

The eerie vibe they radiated wasn't the only change; their whole forms had shifted dramatically.

Among the goblins, certain ones towered over their kin, appearing far more robust.

For the orcs, some boasted tougher hides and fiercer tusks.

The ogres included giants that loomed even larger than their brethren.

To sum it up, every monster seemed enhanced in ways that boosted their power, as though some force had triggered their evolution.

Upon closer inspection, one figure stood out as familiar.

The giveaway was the lingering burn mark on this goblin, unchanged despite its altered look.

This was among those repelled earlier by the egg's peculiar energy.

Clearly, their weird bliss during the energy strike held a deeper purpose.

Moreover, it revealed the monsters' desperate craving for the egg.

Merely soaking up that energy had remade them thusly—what chaos might ensue if they claimed the egg itself?

No question, handing it over would spell disaster.

"Where's that backup?" I pressed Klein, who stared in the same direction.

Klein stayed silent, glancing at a subordinate instead, who answered, "They'll need more time to arrive."

Our faces all creased with worry at the news, but I swiftly clutched the egg to prevent any rash moves. Despite its apparent alliance with us, the egg's antics weren't proving particularly useful.

Should it unleash another wave to fend off these foes, they'd only grow mightier just like before.

The fiercer these beasts became, the graver our peril.

Hence, I had to ensure the egg stayed put.

"Endure until help comes. We've got the upper hand for now, so they can't touch us."

Klein agreed with a nod, then abruptly suggested, "How about we take to the skies?"

"Not yet. We'll save that for after." I replied, my expression deep in contemplation.

Since none of these monsters could fly, ascending would dodge the bulk of them. But if they scattered instead, the risk would skyrocket with villages dotting the nearby lands.

Through our combined efforts, we managed to hold the line against the monsters until reinforcements finally arrived.

That said, the beasts had summoned their own allies, who materialized all around us without warning.

They acted as if we didn't exist, fixating solely on the egg drifting close to me.

Driven by the urge to seize the egg—the wellspring of their evolutionary power—I couldn't intervene fast enough to halt them.
