Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1988: More experiments (2)

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Shota entered the enclosed relic space, where Queenie regarded him warily, anticipating more demands after her previous ordeals. He requested bugs infused with her divine energy to test barrier creation, aiming to resolve the challenge of replenishing that energy for barriers promised to other nations. After the bugs' energy depleted and the barrier faded, Queenie explained that divine energy could only pass through her connection, not between bugs. To experiment further, Shota surrounded her with various items—including tempting treats as incentives—and persuaded her to inject divine energy into them despite her reluctance.

"Boom!"

The sudden event left both Queenie and me totally unprepared.

In the end, though, the blast wasn't powerful enough to injure either of us.

With the dust and fumes finally clearing, I glanced down at the exploded object. Now that I examined it closely, there wasn't really anything substantial remaining of it after the detonation.

The item that had just burst apart was a magic stone.

Given how magic stones could draw in mana, I'd figured they might handle divine energy too.

Each represented a type of power, but one clearly outranked the other in potency. The way it detonated suggested they operated on entirely separate tiers.

To be fair, the divine energy from Queenie wasn't overwhelmingly potent to begin with.

Queenie's divine energy originated from Insectum, which carried the trait of multiplication. This allowed it to replenish itself without gaining any real strength.

Thus, it qualified as merely basic-level divine energy.

Even so, it proved sufficient to cause the magic stone to shatter in this manner.

Of course, this was just a basic magic stone to start with.

As Queenie shook off her surprise from the blast, her gaze toward me unmistakably held me responsible for the mishap.

All I managed was a shrug and a resigned tone as I said, "I didn’t think that it would explode like this."

I had anticipated it wouldn't succeed, but such a sudden eruption...

Nobody could have predicted something like that.

Queenie stared at me for a moment, as though pressuring me to confess I'd orchestrated it, yet I truly had no clue it would turn out this way.

Eventually, she averted her eyes, seemingly conceding that this was indeed the case.

Still, she showed no inclination to experiment with the remaining items nearby.

But I wouldn't allow that, so I pulled out several more objects and placed them before her.

At first, Queenie appeared uninterested in what I'd set down, but her attitude shifted quickly. She began eyeing them gradually, like she was discovering them anew.

The aroma emanating from these items had captivated her attention.

Drawing from my past experiences when this realm functioned as a game, I understood precisely what tempted insects here. For a slothful being like Queenie, such lures doubled in impact.

That's why she snatched them up and devoured them swiftly, then unleashed divine energy once more.

On this occasion, the outcome differed from the magic crystal incident.

Truth be told, I had no certainty about what might succeed, so I'd gathered various items in the hope we'd uncover something effective. Unfortunately, none fulfilled the exact purpose I'd envisioned.

Nevertheless, one noteworthy observation emerged during these trials.

Most of the objects avoided exploding. Actually, the majority didn't even degrade under the infusion of divine energy.

This contrasted sharply with the magic crystal, which had detonated while attempting to hold the divine energy.

"It’s because they just have no compatibility with the divine energy at all, huh?" I muttered under my breath while observing the process.

Unlike the magic stone, which possessed a quality for retaining mana as energy, these extracted items lacked that feature. As a result, the divine energy passing through them simply escaped right away.

They had no means to retain the divine energy within...

"Then it seems like only items that can hold energy will be able to do what I want them to do." I whispered to myself again before retrieving another object.

The moment this appeared, Queenie fixed a ravenous stare on me.

Evidently, she yearned to consume it, but I refused to permit that, as it held vital importance. Besides, it was a scarce treasure I couldn't acquire without effort.

I'd obtained this from the sages during my previous visit to the Sorcery Empire.

I'd never imagined employing it, yet curiosity drove me to test its potential.

"Try injecting divine energy into this."

Queenie visibly recoiled at my words, recalling how the prior attempt had caused an explosion. However, unlike the fragile piece from before, this one wasn't feeble.

What I'd produced this time was a superior magic stone.

That realization only heightened Queenie's apprehension, since the blast from a superior magic stone would undoubtedly surpass that of its inferior counterpart.

"Just send one of the bugs to do it."

After pondering briefly, Queenie nodded in agreement.

For safety, I enclosed the magic stone in a protective barrier to contain any mishaps.

The insect, brimming with divine energy, entered the barrier and made contact with the magic stone, releasing its stored power.

Yet, the superior magic stone didn't erupt like its lesser version had.

Apparently, the superior magic stone managed to take in the divine energy.
