Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1973: She’s just lazy (3)

After pressuring the god Insectum to reveal the truth about a hidden alarm, the protagonist reaches out to claim a mysterious bracelet sitting upon a pedestal. Upon making contact, he is flooded with a massive influx of information that binds him directly to the relic and the surrounding environment. This connection grants him absolute authority over Death Valley, allowing him to perceive every intruder within its borders and manipulate the space at will. Though the power is immense, he remains composed, recognizing that this total control is merely a fraction of the true divinity he has witnessed before.

Upon sensing the threat, my immediate instinct was to lift my arm and pull together divine energy.

My intention was to launch an attack capable of purifying the wave of corruption energy surging toward me.

However, a protective shield materialized around me before that mass of corruption energy could even make contact.

This was a wall composed of pure divine energy, serving as a barrier to keep the corruption energy at bay.

The strength of this divine energy barrier was significant, and logically, it should have possessed the power to cleanse the corruption energy directly in front of it. Yet, it failed to purify the malice, merely managing to irritate or sting it instead.

Despite being pure divine energy that supposedly existed on a superior level, its interaction with the corruption energy suggested otherwise.

"As you can observe, this is precisely why I am unable to handle this destruction energy," Insectum remarked suddenly from my side.

I remained silent, keeping my focus entirely on the divine energy.

After a brief period of observation, the root of the problem became clear to me.

Although the barrier consisted of pure divine energy, I noticed that its specific attribute was unlike any divine energy I had encountered before.

Through my previous conversations with the gods, I had gradually begun to grasp the concept of divine energy attributes.

I understood that for an entity to ascend to godhood, they required a specific domain to govern.

The nature of this domain dictated the particular attribute their divine energy would manifest.

While I hadn't been certain what kind of attribute a God of Insects would wield, the answer was now obvious.

It was propagation.

The existence of this pure divine energy barrier was due to the massive volume of divine energy present. Because of the inherent nature of Insectum’s power, it generated a vast quantity of energy.

Nevertheless, a high volume of divine energy did not automatically equate to high destructive power.

When the divine energy utilized by Insectum propagated, it merely duplicated itself at the same power level. Its strength did not intensify as it multiplied.

Essentially, it was expanding in quantity, but the quality remained stagnant.

Consequently, the divine energy barrier lacked any genuine offensive weight behind it.

There was no questioning its defensive capabilities, as it could draw from a nearly limitless supply of divine energy. As long as Insectum’s core power remained, the divine energy would continue to multiply.

Thus, Insectum’s claim held true.

Its power was ill-suited for eradicating this corruption energy, though it was perfectly designed for containment.

Insectum had been watching quietly while I analyzed the corruption energy and the divine energy barrier, but then they suddenly spoke up: "As you can see, my specialty lies in defense rather than attack. Even if I had the desire, there is very little I can actually do to oppose this destruction energy."

Lin Fan cast a peculiar glance at the spider.

After a moment of silence, Insectum let out a sigh and said, "Had you not appeared, I would have been helpless and eventually lost control over this destruction energy."

"Why didn't you seek assistance from the other gods? I am certain someone would have been happy to help. After all, it is not as if you personally created this environment for your messenger in the first place."

"No one will take action right now because of the proph..." Insectum started to say, but abruptly cut itself off as if realizing a blunder had been made.

I narrowed my eyes at the spider, though I knew it wouldn't reveal anything further.

A single slip-up was possible, but that mistake would only cause it to raise its guard even higher.

Just as I expected, the spider turned its head away, unable to meet my stare.

Since no more information was forthcoming...

I turned back toward the pit and lifted my hand once more.

As I did, intense flames began to manifest in the air above the hollow.

I had worried that the divine energy barrier might block these flames, but it didn't interfere because they originated from the same source. Since they were both forms of divine energy, Insectum’s barrier allowed them to pass through without the slightest resistance.

Once the flames had gathered sufficient mass, I flicked my wrist and sent them plunging down.

Initially, the corruption energy hadn't attempted to strike the divine flames out of fear. But with the fire raining down upon it, the corruption energy was forced to fight back for its own survival.

The surge of corruption energy erupting from the depths of the pit was far more intense than I had anticipated.

It appeared that a massive hoard of corruption energy had accumulated here over countless years.

I realized I had vastly underestimated the sheer effectiveness of Insectum’s defensive containment.

The flames raged for some time, eventually dying down once the geyser of corruption energy finally ceased.

"Is that the end of it?" I questioned Insectum, who was observing from my side.

The spider gave a nod before replying, "You truly are the one they have chosen..."

This was another piece of the puzzle for me, but I chose to remain expressionless this time, hoping to bait out more details.

However, one thing had been confirmed through this encounter.

Insectum had called Queenie lazy... but based on what I had witnessed, it seemed just as indolent as she was.

There were clearly various methods Insectum could have employed to handle this situation, yet it seemed content to agree to the simplest plan I proposed. It was evident that Insectum hadn't put much thought into the matter beyond asking other gods for a favor.

It appeared that the nature of a god truly dictated the personality of the messenger who served them...

No, that couldn't be entirely right, as Zeldir didn't seem to resemble the god he served at all.

That god was a total fanatic, while Zeldir was the complete opposite—unless there was a side to him I hadn't seen. Or perhaps Zeldir was simply a master at masking his true character.

Though I certainly hoped that wasn't the case...

Shaking off these thoughts, I asked, "Is there anything else you require of me?"

Insectum seemed to snap out of its trance, shaking its head. "No, that was the only issue I needed your assistance with. Now that it is resolved, let us go and retrieve that relic for you."

This god and messenger really were two of a kind...
