Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1940: Too sudden

True to his word, the Merman King assembled the expedition team the following morning.
Surprisingly, he had even chosen to include himself in the ranks of the group.
"I can’t just let you die, can I? Not only are you the leader of the racial alliance, you’re also my son in law. I can’t just let my grandchild lose their father," the Merman King remarked with a huff when I questioned his presence.
Flashing an awkward smile, I replied, "I’m not the leader of the racial alliance."
Of everything he had claimed, that was the only point I could actually dispute.
However, the Merman King merely narrowed his eyes at me and countered, "You can say that all you want, but you know that this is the truth. If it weren’t for you, the racial alliance wouldn’t have existed in the first place."
His tone shifted to one of greater gravity as he continued, "You should take your position in the racial alliance more seriously. If it wasn’t for you linking the different races, then the racial alliance never would have happened."
I offered a slow nod in acknowledgment, choosing to remain silent.
Having said his piece, the Merman King did not press the matter further.
Guided by this elite group, it wasn't long before I reached the edge of the region dominated by those treacherous whirlpools.
A mere glimpse was sufficient to understand the sheer power of the vortices, yet that wasn't the only sensation I experienced upon drawing closer. Thanks to the skin-tight air bubble enveloping me, I was sensitive to the shifting currents of the water.
I could perceive a violent flow rushing past my position.
It was obvious that this turbulence was being generated by the whirlpools.
Yet, beyond the physical force, I sensed something else emanating from the depths of those swirls.
While no one else seemed to notice it, they lacked the specialized, sharp senses I possessed for such phenomena.
The moment we neared them, I detected the subtle remnants of divine energy swirling within the water.
The trace was so faint that I might have dismissed it as an error if I didn't know exactly what to look for.
But having felt divine energy before, it was impossible for me to be mistaken.
It was certain: these whirlpools were manifestations of divine energy.
Since they were born of divine power, my theories were proven correct, and I proceeded forward.
The others made a move to follow, but I held up a hand to halt their progress.
They only obeyed because the Merman King gave a confirming nod.
It wasn't necessarily out of a desire to protect me; rather, they feared I might aggravate the situation by provoking the whirlpools.
Approaching with caution, I stopped just short of the swirling vortexes instead of entering them directly.
As I hovered there, I raised the hand bearing the Mark of God.
Immediately, a radiant glow pulsed from my palm as the Mark of God manifested.
The appearance of the Mark triggered an instant reaction from the whirlpools ahead. A resonance occurred, and the spinning waters began to lose their momentum.
Then, without any warning, they vanished completely.
There was no gradual fading or slowing down before they ceased.
They simply blinked out of existence without leaving a single trace behind.
Had I not been staring directly at them seconds before, I would have struggled to believe the whirlpools had ever been there.
The transformation was simply too abrupt...
"What’s happening?" the Merman King inquired, swimming over to my side.
He had begun moving the moment the whirlpools started to dissipate, reaching me just as they vanished.
I had no opportunity to respond, as massive objects suddenly erupted from the seabed.
Identifying them was difficult at first because of their immense size and the speed at which they moved, but they came to a sudden halt shortly after.
Once they were stationary, their nature was undeniable.
Tentacles.
Colossal tentacles had burst from the earth.
By the way they had emerged, they had completely encircled both the Merman King and myself.
The Merman King looked ready to strike, but I raised my hand to restrain him.
However, I was unable to stop the royal guards who were already charging toward us.
I couldn't really blame them; from their perspective, it looked as though we were being ambushed by these subterranean appendages. After all, we were entirely trapped within the ring of tentacles.
Before the guards could engage, I grabbed the Merman King and began floating toward them. The issue was my lack of speed; as a human relying on an air bubble suit, I was quite slow in the water.
Fortunately, the Merman King regained his composure before a clash occurred and began swimming with me.
Ultimately, we positioned ourselves between the royal guards and the tentacles, which seemed to be reacting to the guards' hostility.
With the two of us standing in the middle, both the royal guards and the tentacles were forced into a standstill.
The tentacles remained motionless, seemingly sensing my presence.
The royal guards held their positions because they saw the Merman King was with me.
Raising my hands to keep everyone at bay, I said, "Let’s all take a step back and talk about this. There’s been a misunderstanding between the two sides, so there’s no need to fight."
