Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1932: Provoking it a bit too much

Once the meeting concluded, the decision was finalized: Dorothy would remain under my protection.
It might be more accurate to describe me as her warden, as she was to be kept under strict surveillance until the current crisis was resolved.
Leaving her to her own devices was simply far too risky given the circumstances.
At this moment, our only option was to keep her within a safe zone maintained by divine energy. If we didn't, there was no way to predict what the forces of Destruction might do if they managed to locate her.
However, this was hardly a sustainable strategy, as maintaining such a safe zone required an immense amount of resources.
Because of this, finding a method to remove the black dot situated on the back of Dorothy’s neck became our top priority.
There was no question that this mark served as a beacon for the forces of Destruction to monitor her. If we intended to relocate her to a more secure environment, neutralizing that tracking device was mandatory.
In anticipation of this, I had already summoned someone to investigate the mark before the meeting had even started.
Naturally, there was only one individual capable of actually analyzing such a phenomenon.
"Well, what have you found?" I questioned Max, who was currently hovering over Dorothy.
The intense way he scrutinized the black dot seemed almost unsettling, yet I remained silent, waiting for his assessment.
Dorothy was equally tense, forcing herself to remain motionless while he examined her so closely.
"Nothing at all," he replied nonchalantly, though a hint of irritation leaked into his tone.
Even though he sounded annoyed, his frustration didn't stem from a desire to help Dorothy.
As a man purely driven by his research, he was simply bothered by encountering a mystery he couldn't immediately solve.
"Did you manage to decipher its internal structure?" I followed up.
Without uttering a word, Max handed me a sheet of paper before returning his gaze to the mark on Dorothy’s neck.
Ignoring his eccentric behavior, I began to scan the details of the report he had provided.
"A connection? It’s linked to something else?" I looked back at Max and asked, "How can you be certain of this?"
Max explained simply, "The density of the corruption energy fluctuates constantly, which proves an external source is influencing it. Since the corruption energy doesn't bleed into the rest of her body, the only logical conclusion is that an external link is regulating the amount of energy within the mark."
"Then do you have any potential solutions?" I asked him, my voice turning grim.
Max paused as if weighing his thoughts before finally admitting, "I have developed a certain method..." After a brief moment of hesitation, he added, "It is entirely experimental and carries no guarantee of success. I cannot even promise her safety if we proceed."
"That is absolutely out of the question," Rose’s voice rang out from behind us.
I flashed a wry smile at her intervention, but I didn't argue because she was fundamentally right.
We couldn't possibly allow Dorothy to be subjected to such an unproven and hazardous procedure.
However, Dorothy appeared to have a different perspective.
"Do it," she declared immediately after Rose spoke.
Both Rose and I shifted our gazes toward Dorothy, our eyes narrowing, but her resolve seemed unshakable. It was evident that no amount of persuasion would change her mind.
The sheer determination in her eyes was enough to silence any immediate protest.
Given her conviction, forceful opposition wasn't a viable path.
If we tried to pressure her, it might only drive her toward a more desperate course of action.
"It’s risky and hasn't been tested. I understand your anxiety, but we should wait for Max to find a more stable and secure alternative," I said, attempting to soothe Dorothy with a calm tone.
Rose’s expression softened slightly at my words, but her stern demeanor remained.
Nevertheless, Dorothy countered, "I am aware, but time is a luxury we don't have. We don't know when they will strike again, so I need this thing removed immediately."
Her logic was sound and impossible to deny.
She was the primary target, and it was only a matter of time before they came for her again.
A heavy silence filled the room for a long moment until Rose finally gave in.
"Very well, we will allow it..."
She then turned to me and added, "But he will be supervising. If anything goes wrong, we are stopping the process instantly."
Without a word, Dorothy stepped forward and embraced Rose, whispering, "Thank you, mother."
Rose remained silent, her face reflecting a complex mix of emotions as she held Dorothy back.
The procedure Max had proposed was actually quite straightforward in concept.
He had constructed a device designed to channel divine energy precisely into a target area. It functioned much like a syringe injecting medicine, but utilized divine energy instead.
However, the moment the divine energy touched the black mark...
"Grr..."
A low, guttural roar erupted from the spot as corruption energy began to seep out.
It appeared our intervention had agitated the mark, and now it was violently defending itself.
