Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1929: True power of the Four Omens
Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
The same voice echoed once more before anyone had a chance to react.
"Well, it has certainly been quite some time since our last encounter."
For some reason, the speaker’s tone had become significantly more refined and polite than it was previously.
Following those words, a visible shift occurred within the corruption energy.
A portion of the dark essence began to coalesce, swirling together as if it were manifesting into a physical object.
Ultimately, the dense mass of corruption energy gathered until it assumed the silhouette of a human figure.
There appeared to be nothing particularly remarkable about this form; it looked like a perfectly ordinary person.
However, the figure possessed no discernible features at all.
The corruption energy draped around the entity acted as a veil, obscuring every identifying detail. It was as if a living mosaic of darkness wrapped around the figure, intentionally blocking their true appearance from view.
Yet, that was not the primary concern.
The most vital issue was the figure’s true intention...
"What do you want?" I demanded, finally snapping back to my senses.
Even though their face was hidden, the inflection of the voice made it obvious. One could easily sense a smug grin behind the words as they spoke.
"It appears you have been keeping something quite significant hidden from us."
Immediately after that statement, the corruption energy surrounding the figure began to churn violently.
I realized instantly what the energy was aiming for. Without a moment of hesitation, I lunged forward toward their intended target.
Midway through my charge, however, the corruption energy shifted its trajectory.
Instead of surging toward Dorothy and Lupus, who remained protected within the barrier, the energy veered toward me. It condensed into sharp spikes that lunged forward, intending to impale me where I stood.
But I was fully prepared for such an assault.
A shield of ice materialized around me just as the spikes closed in.
The dark projectiles were unable to penetrate the frozen barrier. In fact, the moment they struck the ice, they seemed to shatter and explode.
More accurately, they simply dissolved into the air.
The divine ice surrounding me purified the corruption energy upon contact, causing it to vanish without leaving a single trace.
"Ha, ha, ha! I suppose that level of force isn't quite enough."
War’s laughter suggested a total lack of concern regarding the failure of the spikes. It was as if this entire confrontation was nothing more than a casual game...
"What is your plan?" I asked War, positioning myself firmly between the shadowy figure and Dorothy.
"Well, what else would we be planning? Now that you have obtained the Child of Destruction, it is only natural that we intend to reclaim her," War replied in a nonchalant tone, acting as if the matter were trivial.
Despite the casual delivery, the statement made it clear that this was a high priority for them.
I was simply baffled as to how they had discovered Dorothy’s existence in the first place.
"Do not be so concerned for the moment, as we are currently unable to take action. This is your stronghold, after all; we couldn't possibly infiltrate with a significant amount of power to begin with."
As War spoke, the surrounding corruption energy began to grow faint and dissipate.
"We brought just enough power to locate what we sought, but nowhere near enough to actually seize her. You needn't worry today, but you should remain vigilant in the future, for we shall return for her. When that day arrives, I truly wonder if this place can withstand our full assault."
"Do you honestly think you can intimidate me?" I asked, my voice turning cold.
"Never. You are the chosen one of those loathsome gods, so how could a minor threat like this frighten you? Still, it is a point worth remembering, considering you are also a king."
War’s manner of speaking was incredibly grating, but I pushed my irritation aside, knowing there was more information to be gained.
"How did you manage to control those monsters?"
"Ha, ha, ha! You are certainly bold to ask me so directly." War’s voice dripped with amusement at my question, but I remained silent, waiting patiently for an answer.
"Well, consider this a reward for your impressive efforts in reaching this point. It is quite simple; did you truly believe we Four Omens were such one-dimensional beings?"
I couldn't help but frown at the response, yet I stayed quiet to hear the rest of War’s explanation.
"It is very straightforward: we Four Omens possess authorities that other Apostles of Destruction do not. As for those other two fools, they were simply too incompetent to utilize them correctly."
"Other authorities?" I asked slowly.
The figure nodded and explained, "It is tied to the titles we were granted; we have the power to incite such things."
"Then, since you are War, you can incite conflict?" I was beginning to grasp the logic behind his words.
That explained why the monsters acted as if they were merely puppets following commands.
A form of mental manipulation had been forced upon them through War’s unique power...
But if War possessed such an ability, why hadn't it been unleashed upon the racial alliance?
If civil wars were to erupt within the alliance's ranks...
"It is not that simple. The effect depends heavily on the target's intelligence and strength of will. Manipulating those mindless beasts is easy, but actual sentient creatures... well, we are not exactly omnipotent."
I narrowed my eyes, scrutinizing War once more after that admission.
War simply remarked, "That is the only free information you will receive."
Turning toward Dorothy, the figure added, "My lady, I truly hope you will consider joining me, for that is where you truly belong."
