Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1922: Divine energy product (10)

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
Max oversees the meticulous storage and preparation of potions imbued with divine energy, setting up a specialized laboratory to analyze their unique properties. Despite Max's desire to test the concoctions himself, several royal guards volunteer as subjects, driven by a desire to match the strength of their peers. The initial testing of a standard strengthening potion reveals an unprecedented level of potency, causing the guard's physical stature to swell significantly. Surprised by the reinforcing effects of the divine energy, the group prepares to gauge the guard's new strength using a specialized test dummy.

"This level of strength is beyond the reach of an ordinary mortal..." Max whispered under his breath while analyzing the metrics displayed by the training dummy.

Given the transformation we had witnessed within the royal guard, these results were hardly a shock.

At this point, the primary concern was...

"What are your further commands?"

Hearing those words, a wave of relief washed over me, and I couldn't suppress a small sigh.

My greatest apprehension had been that the potion might cause him to lose his sanity. I feared potential side effects might trigger a berserk state, stripping away his humanity.

However, his ability to speak coherently proved that his mind remained perfectly intact.

"What other trials do you have in mind?" I asked, deferring the technicalities to Max, who was the true specialist in this field.

Max didn't miss a beat; he already possessed a long list of evaluations he wanted to put the royal guard through.

By the end of it, it was the royal guard himself who regretted being so eager to serve.

"May I rest for a moment?" he gasped, his breath coming in ragged bursts of fatigue.

Although Max appeared ready to conduct even more experiments, I intervened. I noticed the luminous aura surrounding the guard was beginning to dim. Simultaneously, the unnaturally swollen muscles granted by the concoction were starting to recede.

These indicators signaled that the potion's potency was finally waning.

It was evident that he would return to his original state shortly.

Whether the duration was simply the natural limit of the brew or if he had exhausted the internal energy through exertion remained a mystery.

Max appeared somewhat let down by the conclusion, yet he understood the logic behind it. "This was merely a standard strengthening potion. Even if the divine energy within the water amplified its properties, it wasn't going to magically become a miracle elixir."

With the first trial concluded, we proceeded to the next sample.

This particular vial was an agility-enhancing potion, designed to grant the consumer supernatural speed.

Yet, the instant the royal guard swallowed the liquid, he seemed to lose all coordination over his own limbs.

Suddenly, he began darting around at a velocity that the average eye would find impossible to track. Though my own perception was far superior to a normal human's, allowing me to follow his movements, his speed was still remarkable.

It was fortunate that Max had the foresight to attach sensors to him beforehand; otherwise, monitoring the guard would have been an impossible task.

"This is truly incredible..." Max remarked, his eyes glued to the incoming data.

As usual, the complex streams of information on the screen meant nothing to me.

Eventually, I had to ask, "What do you see? What does the data indicate?"

He remained silent for a moment, absorbed in the numbers, before finally answering, "Five times."

I raised an eyebrow and tried to decipher the readout myself, but I quickly gave up, unable to make sense of the technical jargon. Instead, I focused my attention back on the royal guard to observe how his physique was handling the strain.

He seemed to be adapting to the rapid pace, but I also noticed his radiant glow was flickering.

It was a combination of his body adjusting and the potion's effects reaching their limit.

"If medium-grade potions can produce such results, I can't help but wonder what would happen if we utilized high-grade ingredients."

Max snapped his gaze away from the monitor and looked at me expectantly, but I was merely thinking out loud. I had no immediate plans to actually pursue that line of experimentation.

Realizing this, he returned to his work and continued barking orders at the royal guard.

After some time, the enhancement faded completely, but Max had already secured all the necessary measurements.

When the session ended, the royal guard looked visibly dejected, as if he craved the sensation of that vanished speed.

The same look of longing was present on the face of the first guard who had tested the strength potion.

I shot an inquisitive look at Max, but he simply shook his head, anticipating my unspoken question about potential addiction.

He had a point, though.

Had there been any addictive substances within those brews, his previous analysis would have flagged them long ago.

Most likely, they were simply mourning the loss of the overwhelming power they had briefly tasted.

Having settled that, I turned my gaze toward the third royal guard. While he stood waiting, the intensity in his eyes betrayed his outward patience.

It was clear he was desperate to consume his portion as soon as possible.

Since he was so willing...

"Go ahead and drink it," I commanded.

The third guard’s eyes brightened instantly, and he downed the liquid without a second thought.

Curiously, there was no immediate physical transformation.

No light emanated from his body, making it appear as though the potion had failed entirely.

"What was the purpose of this one again?" I questioned Max.

Consulting his notes, he replied, "That's a healing potion."

"Well, that explains the lack of a reaction. A healing potion won't show results if the person is already in perfect health."
