Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1921: Divine energy product (9)

Previously on Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure...
The third round of the alchemy competition introduces divine energy water, a material that drastically enhances potion purity and causes the finished products to emit a mysterious glow. While many alchemists struggle to harness the water's full potential, the successfully infused potions are presented to judges who have been ordered to evaluate them without standard testing. Following the judging, Max’s impulsive attempt to seize the potions for analysis nearly causes a confrontation with the guards. Order is restored only when the potions are sent to a secure storage location with a persistent Max trailing closely behind.

"Not in that spot! That specific one cannot be stored there!"

"Move that one over here and set it down with extreme care!"

"Yes, ensure it is wrapped correctly to preserve its freshness!"

The moment we reached the potion storage area, Max took charge, barked orders at the staff regarding the proper preservation techniques.

The workers glared at him as if he were merely an obstacle, yet they couldn't deny the validity of his instructions.

Consequently, they began to follow his lead, though only after receiving a nod of approval from me.

Even so, I prohibited Max from touching the potions personally. I had no idea what he might do if he got his hands on them; it was highly probable he would have commenced his experiments on the spot.

Once the inventory was safely tucked away, it was obvious that Max had a specific plan in mind.

To my astonishment, however, it wasn't what I had anticipated.

"Summon my assistants to bring the equipment. I need to survey this area to determine the optimal configuration."

He clearly understood that specialized tools were required to investigate these concoctions, and he was already organizing the logistics.

I cut him off, stating, "This isn't the location where the testing will occur."

"Where, then?"

I was slightly startled by the sheer intensity in his voice, but I proceeded to lead him to the intended site.

Upon our arrival, he wasted no time issuing further commands about what needed to be transported and how the layout should be arranged.

I simply shook my head at the display, yet I instructed the staff to cooperate with him.

Ultimately, no one surpassed Max when it came to potion analysis.

This was his true expertise, after all.

...

"I assumed I would be the subject for the trial," Max remarked, his voice tinged with disappointment.

I couldn't help but shake my head once more, remaining silent as I observed the royal guards standing before me.

Selecting the right candidates for the trial had been difficult, but these royal guards had stepped forward as volunteers.

Looking at their faces, however, I realized their motives weren't entirely selfless.

Word of these potions had clearly spread, and several of them were hungry for a boost in power.

Those who had obtained weapons from the forging tournament were already noticeably more powerful than those who hadn't. Naturally, those left empty-handed couldn't help but feel a sense of jealousy toward their peers.

While it did seem somewhat lopsided that they had received nothing, I had to ensure they understood that a positive outcome wasn't guaranteed.

These were, at their core, basic potions brewed during the competition.

They weren't considered rare or exotic, as they followed well-known recipes.

The sole variable was the divine energy infused within them. We truly had no way of knowing what the final properties of these infused mixtures would be.

Regardless, that was the entire purpose of this exercise.

We doubted that divine energy would cause any harmful reactions, given its nature, but certainty was impossible.

Our only guidance came from Max’s analysis and his specialized machinery.

He had personally crafted these devices to break down the chemical makeup of potions and forecast their effects, though divine energy was a difficult factor to calculate.

At the very least, he claimed it wasn't lethal...

Even if that claim lacked any real empirical evidence.

Nevertheless, the royal guards were prepared to proceed, and we stood ready to intervene the second anything went wrong.

With that, we finally distributed the potions to them.

The first guard to swallow the liquid felt the impact instantly.

Not only did a radiant glow envelop him, signaling the divine energy permeating his physique, but his body began to expand.

It wasn't a swelling caused by illness; rather, his muscular structure was visibly surging in size.

This particular potion was deemed the safest of the lot, which is why we tested it first.

Yet, seeing him bulk up so drastically left us all in a state of shock.

The guard had consumed a standard strengthening potion meant to increase physical power.

But the sheer magnitude of the result...

"I have never witnessed potency of this caliber..." Max whispered, his voice full of awe.

If something could actually stun him, it was certain that this potion was extraordinary.

As for why the effect was so overwhelming...

"It's the divine energy," he concluded, eyes fixed on the composition readout.

I didn't need his explanation to reach the same conclusion; it was the only logical reason. The divine energy clearly acted as a catalyst, reinforcing the potion's properties far beyond their natural limits.

Still, the efficacy surpassed our wildest expectations.

The sheer level of the buff granted to the royal guard was nothing short of miraculous.

"Let us evaluate your actual strength now."

The royal guard nodded and stepped toward the training dummy that had been prepared.

This was one of Max’s custom-built test dummies, designed to provide data far more detailed than any standard target could offer.
