Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1910: Unpopular tournaments (1)
"Are you certain you wish to observe this particular event?" The Prime Minister expressed his astonishment when I informed him of my desire to attend one of the tournaments by his side.
After all, the competition I had selected was far from being considered a popular attraction.
My insistence on organizing this specific tournament had left even him feeling somewhat perplexed.
While he could guess my motives for hosting the other events, this choice struck him as particularly peculiar.
The reason for his confusion was simple: this was a gaming tournament.
The tournament centered around a very niche game, which explained why my desire to host it caught many off guard. However, because I remained firm in my decision, the event was eventually included in the schedule.
It was obvious, though, that my underlying reasons for arranging this competition were lost on everyone.
A majority of people simply assumed I was using this event as a filler or a brief intermission between the more major tournaments.
In their eyes, I was merely providing a venue for the common folk to find some lighthearted entertainment.
Contrary to their beliefs, I considered this to be one of the most vital events of all.
Had it been otherwise, I would never have been so relentless in my demands to host it.
Upon our arrival, the spectator area appeared quite sparse. Since we were traveling in disguise, no one was able to identify us, though it wouldn't have mattered much in this setting.
The only individuals who would bother attending such a tournament were those with a genuine passion for the specific game being played.
Given the high level of the competition, the audience was naturally entranced by the match. It was only to be expected that they would fail to notice two anonymous figures joining the crowd.
I wasted no time and headed straight toward the center of the gathering.
I knew exactly who was sitting at the table at that very moment.
Watching this specific match was the sole reason I had timed my visit to the tournament so precisely.
Furthermore, this was the exact display I wanted the Prime Minister to witness.
This match held significant importance.
Or, to be more precise, one of the participants involved in the game was of great consequence.
"How on earth did he execute that triple nozzle?"
"What kind of insane luck is that?"
"That should be impossible!"
Judging by the uproar from the crowd, a pivotal move had clearly been made. However, since neither of us possessed a deep understanding of the game's mechanics, the exact nature of the play was lost on us.
We could only deduce that something incredibly impressive had just occurred.
I did, however, have a slight advantage over the Prime Minister, as I knew this was a minigame from when this world existed as a game. It was a card game originally crafted by the world's programmers.
Initially, the Prime Minister appeared rather disinterested in the proceedings.
But as we sat there, a visible shift occurred in his demeanor.
His newfound interest wasn't directed at the card game itself, but rather at one of the competitors.
"This person is..." The Prime Minister spoke suddenly, trailing off before he could finish his thought.
Even without him completing the sentence, I understood exactly what he was implying.
When a talent is that radiant, it becomes nearly impossible to conceal.
We were looking at the very individual who had become the sole topic of the crowd's conversation.
"It is your task to redirect his interests," I remarked with a subtle grin.
The Prime Minister narrowed his gaze at me following my comment, but I offered no further explanation. I had already said everything that was necessary.
With his keen intuition, there was no way he could fail to recognize the potential before him.
The subject of our discussion was a young man named Timothy, who was currently occupied at the gaming table.
While his playstyle didn't appear flashy, he was completely dominant.
He played as if he could anticipate every single move his opponent intended to make. Such a feat was only possible for someone with the high-level intelligence required to read an opponent's mind.
A genius of this caliber was dedicating his cognitive powers to a mere card game...
This was solely because he was fixated on the game rather than pursuing a path of greatness.
At least, that was the character setting he had been given when this world was still a game.
To successfully recruit this hero unit, one had to persuade him to apply his focus elsewhere.
It was a notoriously difficult quest to complete, but it was certainly achievable.
Rather than undertaking the task myself, I was delegating this mission to the Prime Minister.
One could even argue that the entire purpose of hosting this tournament was to lure this single young man out.
The Prime Minister's gaze felt like an interrogation after I finished speaking.
I could easily guess his thoughts, as Timothy's name had never appeared on our official recruitment list. I knew, however, that he wouldn't have believed in the boy's value if I had simply written it down.
This was the kind of talent that required firsthand observation; I had to show him the truth.
Eventually, the Prime Minister let out a sigh and said, "I’ll do what I can, though this is certainly going to be a difficult challenge."
I wasn't worried in the slightest, especially after seeing the spark in his eyes.
It was obvious the Prime Minister was eager to take on the challenge, so I saw no reason to linger.
Standing up, I gave his shoulder a light pat and informed him, "I’ll be heading off with Shadow One now."
He looked at me with an expression that clearly asked, "Where exactly are you taking her?"
It felt almost as if he suspected I was making off with his girlfriend.
