Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan Chapter 1841 - 1389: Extermination (Part 2)

"The Bai Family?"
"Indeed!"
The elderly woman trembled slightly as if a terrifying memory had surfaced. "The Master of the Bai Family is afflicted by a mysterious malady," she whispered. "He cannot endure the light of day and shuns the sun, only emerging once night has fallen."
"This sickness has twisted his mind, turning him into a cruel and perverse man. Under the cover of darkness, he invades homes to lash people mercilessly, finding solace only in the sounds of their suffering."
"Does no one fight back?"
"The Bai Family Master possesses formidable martial prowess, and he is protected by a band of ruthless thugs. Who would dare oppose him?" Grief deepened the lines on the old woman's face as she choked back tears. "My own husband was tortured until he breathed his last at that man's hands."
"If it is so unbearable, why not flee?"
"Everything we own is tied to this place. If we leave, how could we possibly survive?"
Given the choice, anyone would flee a town where death loomed so closely. However, for these common folk, they possessed no specialized skills to sustain their families elsewhere.
Remaining here was their only desperate hope for survival.
Jiang Fengwu fell into a pensive silence, her curiosity piqued. Was this truly just a bizarre medical condition, or was it something darker, perhaps linked to the Demonic Tao?
Clap... clap... clap...
The stillness of the night was suddenly shattered by the sound of rhythmic clapping.
While they had been speaking, the last remnants of light had vanished, and the Bai Family Master had arrived outside the small hut without making a sound.
"A story well told!"
With a violent crash, the flimsy wooden door was kicked into splinters.
A middle-aged man stepped inside. He was unnervingly pale, with hair and eyebrows as white as snow and a lean, slender frame. Following him were dozens of muscular henchmen, their various weapons gleaming coldly in the dark.
"How strange..."
Showing no hint of alarm, Jiang Fengwu moved to shield the old woman. She studied the Bai Family Master with a sharp, calculating look.
"You are not human!" she declared after a few moments of observation.
The Bai Family Master’s pupils contracted instantly. A murderous intent flared in his eyes as he spoke in a frigid tone, "I had heard reports of a female knight appearing when the city gates were barred, but it seems your true identity is far from simple!"
In all his years residing there, he had encountered many who walked the path of Cultivation, yet this was the first time someone had unmasked him so easily. The killing intent in his heart reached a boiling point.
"What insolence," Jiang Fengwu barked, her anger rising. "To think a member of an alien race would dare infiltrate human lands and slaughter commoners so brazenly. Today, your life ends here!"
She lunged forward like an arrow released from a bow, her long sword flashing with a biting chill as she struck at the Bai Family Master.
"Hah!"
Observing her movement, the Bai Family Master let out a mocking laugh. He had expected her power to be significant, but was this all she had? It appeared he had given her too much credit.
"I shall grant you a swift passing; in your next life, learn not to interfere in matters that do not concern you."
As he spoke, he blurred into a white shadow, closing the distance to Jiang Fengwu in a heartbeat. His hands curved into claws, trailing a freezing aura as they lunged for her throat and vitals.
Had his strike connected, she would have been flayed even if she managed to survive!
Fortunately, her agility was exceptional. With lightning reflexes, she twisted away, narrowly dodging the lethal blow.
Through this brief clash, Jiang Fengwu gauged his strength. He was likely at the late stages of the Qi Cultivation Realm and hailed from the Ghost Clan. Had he been a Foundation Establishment expert of the Ghost Clan, his techniques would be far more varied, and she would not feel so evenly matched.
This realization allowed her to set aside the idea of breaking her seal. She would attempt to defeat this ghost using only her martial arts.
Whether it was because her martial skills were peerless or the Bai Family Master was relatively weak, the two were locked in a stalemate. The combat was fierce, but because they were near the city wall in an open area, no nearby houses were demolished, sparing the commoners from being crushed.
As the duel progressed, the Bai Family Master grew increasingly alarmed. He had never met a mere martial artist capable of standing against him!
How could this be? Even as a novice in his Cultivation, failing to defeat a mortal would be a humiliation to the entire world of practitioners. Yet, no matter how he tried to shift the momentum, his power was insufficient to overwhelm her.
He took comfort in the fact that her physical strikes seemed unable to deal lasting damage. Since his body was ethereal and she lacked mana to empower her blade, he believed he could simply outlast her. He planned to drain her stamina until she was too exhausted to resist, then finish her off.
Such a transparent strategy could not escape Jiang Fengwu’s notice.
Even without mana, she possessed methods to strike at the Ghost Clan!
She began to circulate her inner strength, channeling a surge of Qi-Blood through her limbs and into her weapon. The ordinary steel of her sword began to glow with a faint, crimson light.
"Ahhh!"
The Bai Family Master, initially dismissive, let out a piercing shriek of agony as the blade bit into him. A searing, burning sensation tore through his form.
"This is impossible! How can a common mortal wound my spirit body?!" he screamed, his composure replaced by absolute terror.
Jiang Fengwu offered no reply, her blade a continuous blur as she sought to end the fight quickly.
"You have pushed me too far!"
Battered and desperate, the Bai Family Master’s form became translucent under the moonlight. With his life on the line, he abandoned all caution. Ghostly energy erupted from him as he transformed into his true, hideous shape: a towering, blue-faced demon with jagged fangs.
Roar—!
The Fierce Ghost let out a deafening cry, unleashing waves of thick, black ghostly mist that swirled toward Jiang Fengwu from every angle.
"Ha! Ha!"
Gripping her sword, she braced her Dantian and released a thunderous shout that rang out like a great bell. A massive burst of Qi-Blood erupted from her body.
Sizzle—!
The ghostly energy and the Qi-Blood crashed into one another, both forces struggling to dissolve the other. However, Jiang Fengwu’s Qi-Blood was superior. It surged over the Bai Family Master’s energy like a tide of fire, beginning to envelop and refine the ghost.
Even with her mana, Sea of Consciousness, and true physical might sealed—causing her Qi-Blood to be a mere fraction of its peak—it remained far more potent than anything a Qi Cultivation Realm Ghost could muster.
