Reborn as an Extra Chapter 623: The Airhead Twins, Lyria And Miria. Part-3.
Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
For quite some time, Lyria lectured Miria sternly; despite being twins, Lyria embodied the dependable sort, whereas Miria acted like a playful troublemaker.
"So you're telling me that many of your fellow fairies fell to that demon earlier... that explains the blood-soaked earth all around and the blood on his hammer too..."
Gazing upon the tiny, enchanting fairies, Lia found a puzzling thought emerging in her thoughts.
’How could anyone bring themselves to hurt such endearing, innocent beings like these? Leaving demons out of it... even humans are guilty of this?’
[Demons stand as foes to every living being... they stay true to their aims, so judging their ’morality’ would be misguided...]
[For them, acts of ruin and slaughter represent ’good morality’... If you're aiming your revulsion, point it at the humans and other folks who deliberately commit such deeds...]
’Yet why would humans and the rest resort to this? Aren’t fairies renowned as the finest healers with magic across the world?...’
’And from what I recall in the history texts, they aided humans greatly during the thousand-year war... so why turn against your former allies?’
[Believe me... you’d be better off not digging deeper into this, Lia... that’s precisely why this slice of history skips the academy’s books...]
Kai’s statement left Lia bewildered, yet his grave voice prompted her to tread carefully.
Whatever could solemnize an SS-rank divine spirit like him must surely pose greater risks to her if uncovered.
As Lia and Kai exchanged words via telepathy, the party covered a good stretch of ground.
Soaring through the skies, they passed over numerous peaks and ridges until they neared the base of a colossal mountain, halting in front of a massive rock shrouded in dense foliage.
"We've arrived! Stay close behind us!"
Declaring this, the petite fairies darted swiftly toward the boulder, vanishing upon touch as though stepping through some gateway!
[Though brief... I detected an odd ripple in space... Ah, SS-rank illusion magic at work...]
’SS-rank!? Seriously!? This is supposed to be an S-rank dungeon—how does such potent illusion exist here!?’
[You’ve probably figured it out already... this dungeon appears to replicate a bygone site from our world...]
[A formidable SS-rank illusion might have once enveloped this spot, and the dungeon has simply echoed it through...]
[Maybe the ’laws’ of the ’world’ assisted the dungeon in pulling this off... I’m not certain, mind you; dungeons hold endless surprises, so an SS-rank illusion cropping up isn’t out of the question...]
’Still... getting trapped in this illusion... I’d stand no chance of making it out alive...’
Against an S-rank illusion, Lia could perhaps counter with Kai’s aid, but an SS-rank one lay way beyond her current reach.
Venturing inside could thrust her into tremendous peril.
[Um... Despite being SS-rank, an S-rank dungeon can’t sustain its full might or deadliness...]
[It probably caps at peak S-rank strength, though deadlier than usual...]
’Sigh... No alternative for me... these two fairies offer my sole lead to grasping this dungeon’s mysteries...’
’Backing off now might force me to roam endlessly...’
Time was the one resource Lia lacked; she aimed to hit S-rank swiftly and head home without delay.
Especially since a stoic young man awaited her beyond these walls—she hated the idea of leaving him hanging.
’Phew... Handle my mental shields, will you? Route any mental strikes and illusory effects your way...’
While Kai lacked peak physical prowess here, his soul and mind retained SS-rank caliber!
An SS-rank illusion wouldn’t faze him, and dwelling in her consciousness sea, he could lend her his mental fortitude!
[Tch... You’ll owe me ten of those delicious fish meals you whip up for this...]
’Deal, I’ll settle up once we’re back...’
For an eternal divine spirit like him, cash and trinkets meant little, but delectable eats always hit the spot.
As a master cook, Lia had no trouble crafting dishes to tantalize Kai’s palate.
Beyond shared battles, she’d forged bonds with Kai through her scrumptious homemade feasts.
Sure, snacking on Lia’s cooking gratis had nearly doomed Kai to Rio’s blade aura, but he couldn’t resist the flavor!
"Phew... Let’s do this!"
Drawing in a steadying breath, Lia soared toward the enormous boulder!
Like passing through a warp gate, she sensed a fleeting weightlessness, only to land moments later on verdant plains!
Lush greenery extended to the distant skyline; vibrant blooms dotted the landscape, while the azure heavens lent an enchanting allure to the vista!
A gentle gust brushed Lia’s cheeks, tousling her golden locks as floral aromas amplified the splendor of the realm!
Elemental essence and mana thickened the atmosphere intensely, free of any foul miasma, rendering all sights serene and delightful!
Lia might as well have stepped into a heavenly haven!
Lyria and Miria, poised for her arrival, greeted Lia with warm smiles.
"What held you up?"
"Behold our homeland... Enter ’Adonis,’ The Kingdom of Fairies!"
