Reborn as an Extra Chapter 534: The Three Legendary Swords. Part-2.

Previously on Reborn as an Extra...
In the dwarf kingdom, Rio learns the truth behind the three legendary swords forged by the master smith Kehrid. These weapons were manifested through the sheer heavenly luck of King Allen, allowing universal laws to inhabit their blades. Kehrid reveals that Rio’s current weapon, the Sword of Destruction, Vinash, contains the law of absolute end and is behaving unusually docile in Rio's hands. While the second blade, the Sword of Salvation, Astra, was a sentient artifact of healing and protection, Rio begins to realize his own affinity lies with the darker of the legendary creations.

"Astra also wielded the ’Sword of Salvation’ for a period back then... however, she vanished alongside King Allen following the thousand-year war of Demon extinction..."

Because Kehrid is essentially only the partial creator of these blades, he lacks the means to track their eventual locations or future destinations.

Having brought them into existence, he simply permitted destiny to handle the rest.

"The third and final blade I forged was ’The Sword of Cosmic Order, Raksha’..."

Kehrid let out a heavy sigh and adopted an irritated tone while discussing that particular weapon.

"My three swords are fundamentally distinct from one another. Vinash possesses the smallest shred of consciousness; it isn't selective regarding its wielder, allowing anyone to use it while destroying the user regardless of their identity..."

"Astra possesses a semi-self-conscious nature; it is quite selective about its wielders but ensures no harm comes to them."

"The third blade, ’Raksha,’ is entirely different; it is fully aware of its own existence, highly intelligent, and refuses to select an owner. It views itself as a true living entity and will not permit anyone to claim ownership over it..."

As Kehrid grew nostalgic recounting his history, young Kifrid actually drifted off to sleep while listening to the lengthy, intricate tales.

Finding the room warm and relaxing, and the talk of the past uninteresting, Kifrid fell asleep with his head resting on Rio’s lap.

Rio brushed his hand over the small child's head as he inquired,

"In that case, how did King Allen manage to utilize that ’sword’?"

Kehrid gave an immediate shake of his head in response to the query.

"King Allen wasn't able to use ’Raksha’ as a mere weapon; he treated it as a ’friend,’ and ’Raksha’ chose to assist him of its own free will during his conflicts..."

"The ’Law’ of ’Cosmic Order’ was embodied within that blade; it possessed the power to warp ’reality’ and the ’world’ itself according to its desires!"

"It was capable of bending or distorting the very fabric of space-time... I am unaware of the full scope of its powers, as it never permitted anyone to wield it and never revealed its true strength to a soul..."

"Not even King Allen ever managed to utilize it to its maximum potential..."

With a depressed tone, Kehrid sighed as he continued.

"I am uncertain of what transpired between them, but ’Raksha’ eventually departed from King Allen’s side..."

"It was still with King Allen when he left this world for his travels, yet it randomly drifted back to me one day..."

"It informed me that it no longer wished to inhabit the same ’universe’ as ’Allen’ and expressed great anger toward him..."

Kehrid downed a significant amount of beer in a single gulp before speaking again.

"That was the last day I ever saw that weapon... It is exceptionally clever, and finding it would be nearly impossible if it chooses to remain hidden..."

"It is possible that it truly departed from our ’Universe’ altogether..."

Hearing those words, Rio could only sigh and shake his head.

Numerous studies and scientists suggest that dungeons manifest because foreign ’universes’ are crashing into this one.

Consequently, ’Raksha’ might have warped the fabric of ’Reality’ to flee to another ’Universe’ during such a collision of ’worlds.’

Under those circumstances, locating it would be impossible, and Rio might never have the chance to use it himself.

’Never mind, I have a preference for my cute and obedient sword ’Vinash’ over those other two...’

Rio shook his head, choosing not to dwell on the matter any further.

His sword intent was so immense that he could inflict devastating damage even with a common stick; he didn't strictly require powerful swords or artifacts.

The primary reason Rio utilized ’Vinash’ was for its ’soul-splitting’ ability.

’Hold on... if the ’law’ of ’absolute destruction’ is manifested in this blade, then ’soul-splitting’ shouldn't be its only capability, right?’

’Maybe I can eventually use it to tear through ’reality’ and the fabric of space and time as well?’

The moment that thought crossed Rio's mind, he sensed his bond with the sword strengthen slightly.

’Oh, so you agree with me. How adorable...’

"By the way, I went through my father’s diary, and it mentions that when he stole ’Vinash’ from the demon king’s vault, there was a tablet nearby with a prophecy inscribed on it..."

"Are you familiar with this prophecy?"

Although Rio had learned of the prophecy from Irvin, he didn't want to mention Irvin's name to Kehrid, so he lied and claimed it was in his father’s diary.

"Hmm? What? I never made anything of that sort..."

Kehrid appeared baffled by the mention of the prophecy; as it turned out, he had never heard of it either.

"The Great Furnace of Cyria... ah, it has been a thousand years since that name last reached my ears!"

Kehrid smiled and explained,

"Based on the ancient dwarven history I know, our race once inhabited a planet known as ’Cyria 229.’ That was an era before ’mana’ and ’miasma’ ever existed in our universe..."

"My knowledge of that age is limited, but I do know of the Great Furnace of Cyria... It was a formidable furnace and a masterpiece of engineering. Its primary power source was a ’Black Hole’!!"

Kehrid spoke of the furnace with great pride and confidence.

"I was the final master smith privileged enough to operate it. It is said this furnace traveled to this planet with us dwarves in the ancient past when mana first arrived in this world..."

"I utilized that mighty furnace to forge the ’three legendary swords!’ Only an artifact of such caliber could provide a foundation strong enough for the ’laws’ of the ’world’ to inhabit them..."

Sighing, Kehrid shook his head as he went on,

"Regrettably, that engineering marvel, that great furnace, was destroyed after assisting in the creation of those three legendary swords..."

"Forging three such potent weapons placed too great a strain on it, and it could no longer function afterward..."

"I actually operated it on a distant planet, and that entire planet shattered along with the furnace..."

Operating such a powerful furnace on this planet was impossible; therefore, King Allen assisted in relocating it to a desolate planet in a far-off solar system.

This ensured that even when the furnace broke apart, the earth remained safe; otherwise, the destruction of the furnace would have obliterated the earth as well.

"To this day, we have failed to recreate the technology of that machine, and it’s likely no new legendary sword will ever be forged again unless a new ’Chosen One’ requires them..."

"By the way... there is one more blade in existence that is considered incredibly powerful..."

Kehrid’s eyes narrowed as his tone became grave.

"I am unaware of its creator or if it truly exists, but rumors say it is a formidable weapon. I haven't seen it with my own eyes, though..."

"It is known as the ’Sword of Promised Destinies’!"
