Outside a modest suburban residence, a black Rolls-Royce Phantom glided to a halt and parked.
Evening was settling in, and as the horizon began to harbor gathering clouds, the sky grew increasingly dim.
The chauffeur stepped out to open the rear door for his employer. Mia Ashford emerged from the vehicle, her curvaceous figure draped in an elegant blue one-piece dress.
Her husband followed closely behind her. Dressed in a sharp black suit, his handsome features were perfectly framed by his short black hair.
Surveying the house, Adam remarked, "Well, comparing our place to the mansion we just left, it’s pretty clear I’m not built for the billionaire lifestyle—or even being a millionaire. I’d choose this home over any other, without a doubt."
"I agree," Mia replied with a nod. "However, if we intend to support Oliver's future, we can't just stay settled here, regardless of how cozy this house feels. As Oliver begins to mingle with the upper class, we can't have people looking down on him because his parents live in such a mediocre environment."
"Hmm. I suppose that makes sense."
Mia let out a soft laugh, seeing how quickly Adam was willing to abandon their comfort for Oliver’s sake.
In truth, she adored this quality in him. He consistently prioritized family above everything else.
Wearing a warm expression, she turned toward the building and started walking toward the front entrance.
Adam quickly caught up, sliding an arm around her waist as they walked side by side.
Reaching the door, Mia pushed it open and stepped inside.
Once they were indoors, they found Amara, Oliver’s sister, perched on the living room sofa.
She was clad in a tight-fitting shirt that hugged her shapely frame, emphasizing her slim waist and ample chest.
A short skirt rested below, highlighting her toned legs and rounded hips.
The girl appeared to be lost in a trance, staring off into nothingness, seemingly oblivious to her parents' arrival.
Noticing her daughter's state, Mia’s brow furrowed with concern.
"Amara!"
The loud call of her name snapped Amara out of her daydream.
She blinked, looking up to see her mother and father entering the room.
"Huh? Oh, welcome home, Mom, Dad," she said, offering a smile.
Mia, however, wasn't convinced. She could tell something was weighing on her daughter's mind.
"Did something happen today?" Mia inquired, taking a seat beside her on the couch and gently resting a hand on Amara’s soft cheek.
That tender gesture coaxed a small smile from Amara as she replied, "Well..."
She hesitated for a moment, weighing her words, before deciding to be completely honest about what was on her mind.
"Today, after I finished my final exam, I stopped by my boyfriend's house like I usually do. That's when he broke up with me..."
Amara went silent for a second, swallowing hard. When she spoke again, her voice was a low whisper that Mia and Adam struggled to catch.
"I'm just really confused right now. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. It’s not like I was deeply in love with him or anything... but for some reason, I just feel sad..."
"I understand. So that's what it is..." Mia nodded with a sympathetic look. "Amara, the only advice I can give you is not to dwell on it. Life is about finding as much happiness as possible. If someone isn't bringing you joy, you have to let them go."
"Yes, Mom," Amara whispered in agreement.
Adam chimed in, "I agree with your mother, Amara. Life is far too short to waste time worrying about things you can't fix or seeking happiness from people who won't give it to you."
Their supportive words seemed to brighten her mood, and Amara smiled again as she looked at them.
However, as she studied them, she realized her parents looked like entirely different people than when she had last seen them.
Their attire was far more sophisticated, expensive, and well-tailored than usual.
"By the way, Mom, Dad, you both look different today. Did you go somewhere fancy?" Amara asked, her eyes scanning their outfits.
Mia smiled at her daughter’s curiosity and replied, "We did, actually. And we’re planning on taking you there as well."
"Do you mean another vacation?" Amara asked. "That sounds great. I just finished exams and could really use a break to relax and clear my head."
Adam shook his head. "No, not a vacation. What Mia means is that we are moving. We’re going to live in a mansion owned by your grandfather from now on."
Amara’s jaw dropped in shock. "What?! Grandfather’s mansion?! Wait, I thought I didn’t have a grandfather anymore!"
Mia didn't hold back the truth this time. She laid everything out, explaining the inheritance her father was passing to Oliver and the reasons behind their sudden relocation.
Naturally, Mia also revealed why she had originally left her family and why she had never reached out to them again until now.
Hearing the hardships Mia had endured as a teenager, Amara couldn't help but feel a wave of sorrow and pity for her mother.
But she quickly pushed those negative emotions aside, realizing Mia wasn't telling her this to gain sympathy.
Furthermore, Amara had a more pressing matter to address.
Locking eyes with Mia, Amara stated firmly, "Mom, Dad, since this is going to change my life significantly too, I have one condition if you want me to go along with this plan."
"Of course, tell us what's on your mind, dear," Mia encouraged, giving her the floor.
