My Celestial Ascension Chapter 923: Meeting The Vampire Nobles
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Upon their arrival, a faint wave of ease washed over him.
"We pay our respects to His Majesty."
The heads of the vampire aristocracy dropped to their knees at once, paying homage to their sovereign—the pure lineage of the Vampire Kingdom, who had ruled them for well over a millennium.
"Lift your heads. There's a crucial issue we must address, one that threatens the lives of every creature across this land," King Evander declared in a steady voice, the worry in his tone impossible to miss.
Hearing this, the vampire nobles' faces twisted from serenity to astonishment, their ghostly complexions growing even more ashen.
"D-Don't say it's what I'm fearing... that's just not possible...!" the middle-aged vampire stammered, his voice quivering as his knees buckled.
"I-Is it regarding those foul beings, Your Majesty??" inquired the lady in the red gown with golden locks, her words shaky too.
"Regrettably, yes, it involves them, Count Leopold and Countess Katarina," King Evander confirmed, his tone laden with worry as he let out a quiet sigh. "This occasion marks a gravely urgent crisis we dare not overlook."
Countess Isolde—the striking figure with blazing red tresses and an air of poised grace—advanced a step.
Confidence etched her features as she locked eyes with the Vampire King, facing him like a peer.
Shortly after, she questioned, "Just how grave is this? Kindly explain to help me grasp the full picture."
"All I can reveal is this—if we fail to move swiftly and unite with the other realms, survival through this ordeal will elude us," King Evander responded, heaving a deep breath, his face etched with severity.
Gasps rippled through the vampire nobles at these words, their stares bulging in stunned horror. A few even reeled back, struggling to hold steady.
"I-Is the threat really that immense?" Eldrick, the elegant and dashing vampire, uttered in sheer astonishment.
King Evander's features grew stern. Gazing upon the assembly, he addressed them with profound gravity.
"More than a million undead troops advance on our borders even now... Surely, you see the peril we're in."
The revelation hit every vampire noble like a collapsing floor, leaving them reeling. Shocked inhales filled the grand hall.
In an instant, the throne room's enormous doors burst wide, ushering in a gust of chilly wind.
Every noble whipped around, baffled by who would barge in without the King's consent.
Yuan and his companions stepped into the throne hall with the Queen, spotting the cluster of vampire nobles arrayed before the seat of power.
"We greet Her Highness the Queen."
The vampire nobles offered deep bows in deference, yet their eyes fixed on Yuan and the group with blended intrigue and surprise.
’This aroma... humans are present...!’
As the human scent hit them, the nobles' eyebrows shot up, a spark of thrill lighting their expressions.
Their stares turned ravenous toward Yuan and the rest, viewing them like exquisite treats they fought to resist pouncing upon.
"It appears we've arrived a touch behind... all of you are assembled," Queen Carmilla remarked in her alluring tone, offering a gentle incline of her head to the nobles' salutes.
She pressed on until she stood by the vacant throne. With elegant poise, she took her seat and surveyed the assembled lords.
"I trust our abrupt call didn't disrupt the lords in any way," she stated, her smile courteous and warm.
"None whatsoever, Your Highness," Count Leopold answered with a gentle exhale. "Given the gravity of this affair, our prompt presence was essential."
Countess Isolde chimed in with resolute poise, "Lord Leopold speaks true. Any hesitation could unleash disaster, endangering us every one."
Her attention then shifted to Yuan and his group, sharp curiosity gleaming as her eyes shimmered with a vivid scarlet hue.
"I can't help but ponder what brings these humans and demi-humans here... and chiefly, how they breached our continent's defenses," she noted, eyeing them with a hunter's intent.
"Their method of entry isn't our focus at present. A vital discussion awaits—let's direct our efforts there," Princess Nerith interjected boldly, striding ahead with arms folded.
King Evander gave a nod of approval. "Princess Nerith has the right of it. We'll address them afterward. Right now, the urgent matter demands our attention."
Before long, King Evander guided the group to a separate room to negotiate ties with the Demon Empire and border duties.
Anna Grace and the rest opted out of the talks, deeming them dull, save for Valeria.
As Anna Grace and her companions lingered with Queen Carmilla, Yuan and Valeria joined King Evander and the vampire nobles to hash out the frontier concerns.
The talks stretched on for almost an hour, where Nerith clinched the pact to battle the Undead King and his vast undead horde.
Yet the vampire nobles stipulated one term—they'd join the fray only once the sun dipped below the horizon.
The request made perfect sense, and Nerith consented without pause. Vampires, after all, couldn't roam or clash with foes under the sun's harsh glare.
With the meeting wrapped up, Countess Isolde's focus zeroed in on Yuan. Her crimson gaze pinned him, brimming with fervent intrigue.
"It's been more than a millennium since I last encountered a human... I'm dying to know how you pierced that enigmatic storm wall," she murmured, a sly smile playing on her lips, her look still that of a predator.
"Oh, my dear Isolde, could it be you've finally caught feelings for a human after staying unwed for two thousand years...?" Katarina jested lightly with a chuckle.
"Facing such a striking young man, how could I resist curiosity? Plus, humans have been scarce for me lately," Isolde shot back, her grin bold and teasing.
She zeroed back on Yuan, abruptly standing and approaching him with a frosty smirk.
"Tell me your name, handsome one? We need a fitting intro before I challenge you to a proper duel..." she declared, smiling assuredly, her eyes sparkling in anticipation of his reply.
"I'm Yuan... delighted to make your acquaintance, Lady Isolde," Yuan answered, flashing a broad smile of his own. "So, when do you want to spar?"
Her smile widened further at his words, caught off guard by his enthusiasm, which only fueled her fascination with him more.
