My Celestial Ascension Chapter 909: Reminiscing

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
The crowd buzzed with disbelief as Princess Nerith, undefeated champion, fell to Yuan in a stunning duel, her defeat all the more shocking given his restrained power and unfamiliar presence. Exhausted yet composed, Nerith approached him with newfound admiration, her curiosity ignited by his mastery of Qi—a force even gods coveted—while Anna Grace and the others praised her endurance, hinting at budding affections. Back at the palace, Empress Varia reeled from seeing Nerith bruised and uncharacteristically bold, grabbing Yuan's hand to lead him to a vast bathing chamber where they undressed and relaxed in warm waters, sharing quiet reflections on the day's intensity.

After a brief pause, she declared, "I want to destroy every one of those abominations created by the gods’ experiments... They don’t deserve to dwell in this world."

Yuan picked up on the fury laced through her words, a profound grudge that carried the weight of ages. Still, he held his tongue and merely paid attention to what she shared.

"If I had the chance... I’d butcher those so-called gods one by one. Because of their greed, our people have suffered for thousands of years... I’ll never forgive them for what they did to us."

"I have already butchered a few of them before coming here..." Yuan disclosed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling above.

"Oh really? I never expected that..." Her interest in him sharpened as she turned to him. "So, how many did you slaughter?"

With a subtle grin, Yuan met her eyes and responded, "Not many. At first, they sent their most elite warriors after us. And I slaughtered them all, leaving only one alive."

"Hmmm... I’m really curious to hear the whole story now," she remarked, rising to her feet to reveal her striking build, then settling beside him with excitement lighting up her features.

As she positioned herself right next to him, her shoulder grazed Yuan’s, and her smiling gaze caught him off guard for an instant.

’She’s so near... incredibly near. Actually, way too near... what exactly is she after?!’ Yuan thought to himself in alarm, even as his face stayed composed.

’I need to stay composed... I can’t let myself get rattled simply because an incredibly attractive woman is perched so intimately beside me... a bare one, no less.’ He drew in a measured breath to regain his focus.

Her eyes gleamed with intrigue as she regarded him and inquired, "So why did you leave one alive? Wouldn’t it have been better to kill them all at once? Letting him live would only bring trouble to you."

"Though it may bring trouble, I let him return to the High Heaven for a reason. I wanted to deliver a message to those so-called gods sitting there," Yuan answered, a smile playing on his lips.

"I see... So you issued them a warning. That’s far more interesting than simply killing them all—you wanted the gods to understand the consequences of sending people after you," she observed, nodding in understanding of Yuan’s plan.

"Indeed. I want them to know that only death awaits them if they come after my wives or me. There is only one fate waiting for them—death."

"Simply brilliant. So, did they come after you?" she pressed, her curiosity piqued.

"Of course they did," Yuan affirmed. "They sent two low-level gods after us."

"I’d expect nothing less from them. They are a bunch of lunatics—they wouldn’t give up so easily."

"Indeed. Those gods came to the Elven Kingdom searching for us. It was Mireya’s kingdom—you’ve already met her."

"Of course, but I didn’t think she would be the Queen of the elves. You’re quite the lucky man to have her as your wife," Nerith responded with a nod. Still, an odd feeling stirred in her chest that she struggled to pinpoint.

"Well, even though she is a queen, she doesn’t act like one," Yuan noted with a gentle laugh. "Anyway, the two low-level gods demanded that I surrender myself to them, and they ended up dead by my hand."

Surprise flickered across Nerith’s face as she leaned in closer, fixing her stare on him for several moments.

"I never thought that you fought two low-level gods. You’re really amazing, Yuan," she praised, her eyes shining with awe as she beheld him.

"It was nothing. They were insignificant, and I bet even you would give them a run for their money," Yuan said, smiling back.

"You are far stronger than those low-level gods I defeated. They were nothing—I killed them before they could even blink."

"Simply incredible! I’d really like to know what kind of training method you used to become so strong at such a young age."

"Look at me—I’ve trained with the sword my entire life. Yet I couldn’t even hold my ground against you. It’s truly frustrating that I’m still this weak after so much training." With a sigh, she glanced upward at the ceiling.

"Well, we should clean up and head out soon. The others have been waiting for us," Yuan suggested, starting to rinse off before exiting the water.

Nerith followed suit. A clean outfit hung ready on a hanger close by for her use.

For his part, Yuan pulled a fresh set of garments from his System Storage and dressed in them.

"Hmm? Where did those clothes come from? They just suddenly appeared in your hand... What kind of trick did you use?" she wondered, her face alight with wonder.

"It’s a secret," Yuan shot back with a playful grin before stepping out of the bathroom.

In the meantime, Varia stepped into the chamber where Rhex was conducting a brief council with the four Dukes, hashing out plans to brace for warfare.

The undead’s peculiar activities had grown more common lately, and dismissing the threat of an approaching battle would be unwise.

On top of that, the undead harbored a deep loathing for the living, fueled by the bitterness of having life itself torn away from them.

Upon spotting her arrival, Rhex eyed her worriedly and questioned, "Have they returned from the training ground? How is Yuan doing? Is he injured by that ruthless sister of mine?"

"I’ll tell you, but don’t be surprised, okay?" she replied, taking a seat next to him with a grave look.

"Alright. I’m listening." Rhex gave a nod.

The four Dukes shared the curiosity about the duel’s result between Yuan and Princess Nerith. After all, she was renowned for her merciless ferocity in combat.

Varia inhaled deeply before disclosing, "Yuan is fine. In fact, he’s in perfect condition. However, Nerith is the one covered in bruises—she lost the duel."

"What?! My sister lost the duel?! Are you saying that ruthless woman lost the fight?! How is this even possible?!" Rhex shot to his feet from the sofa, eyes bulging in shock.

The four Dukes stood equally dumbfounded by the news. Their faces showed they’d never anticipated this turn of events.

"This is hard to believe... Yuan managed to defeat our Princess without even getting injured. Just how powerful is he?" Duke Hexryn whispered, drawing in a sharp, disbelieving breath.
