My Celestial Ascension Chapter 903: Origin Of The Undead Race
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
In hushed silence, Yuan along with his companions stared at the Demon Emperor and the four Dukes. The devastating reality hidden behind the Holy War and the passing of the First Demon Emperor was something they had never once foreseen.
Yuan reflected inwardly with a quiet exhale, 'Arriving here turned out to be the perfect decision after all... without this journey, the real facts would have stayed buried, and we'd have missed seeing the deceitful nature of the Gods.'
"I could never have pictured those deities from the High Heaven acting like such frauds... launching a conflict against a whole species just to satisfy their hunger for dominance. It's utterly staggering," Anna Grace whispered, her tone laced with scorn and fury aimed at the Gods.
"Every one of them is a fraud... their insatiable desires caused us immense hardship. The whole continent endured unimaginable torment because of it," Emperor Rhex breathed out heavily, old wounds stirring and squeezing his heart anew.
"Did the thought of seeking vengeance ever cross your minds? Considering how much those self-proclaimed Gods put you through, it feels only fair for them to face similar pain," Mireya remarked, her piercing eyes locked on the Emperor and the four Dukes.
"Revenge has haunted our thoughts since the fall of our First Demon Emperor. The Gods owe retribution for each wrong they've inflicted," Duke Hexryn stated icily, her gaze burning with lethal resolve.
"Sadly, our present circumstances prevent any such action. That enigmatic storm wall blocks our path to the other lands," Rhex responded with an exhausted breath.
He went on, "On top of that, we've lately observed the Undead Race stirring oddly close to our frontiers. Their intentions are still a mystery."
"Those skeletal fiends have become overly bold these days... they even ventured out of the wasteland to approach our lands," Duke Alric grumbled, his rage plainly showing.
"The Undead Race, is it? We picked up on unusual activity during our trip over... I'm puzzled about their origins. How do they even persist without working organs?" Yuan commented, his tone revealing true intrigue.
"The Gods' botched experiments birthed them—failures they discarded without a second thought," Rhex explained, his words thick with contempt for the Undead Race.
Noticing the bewilderment on Yuan’s face and those of his group, Rhex let out a sigh before clarifying, "To tarnish our name before the world, they cast the remains of their flawed test subjects onto our soil, making it seem like we were behind the twisted trials."
"Gradually, the rotting remains drew in Qi and revived... but in a warped state. As evident, they're nothing but bones, devoid of any organs."
"Under usual conditions, they'd stay confined to the desert. Yet recently, we've detected hordes of Undead scouting along our edges, and their schemes escape us entirely," Emperor Rhex warned solemnly, his worry impossible to miss. This wasn't a trivial matter—some grand event loomed on the horizon.
Learning the grim origins of the Undead Race left Yuan and his companions profoundly disturbed. The Gods had perpetrated endless horrors, even corrupting humans into nightmarish undead abominations.
The undead also wield a bizarre power. They can transform any corpse into another undead horror, swiftly swelling their ranks.
That tracks, given their lack of bodily organs, and it's obvious they can't multiply like the other peoples of this realm.
"I never dreamed the Gods forged the Undead Race... birthing abominations like these is sheer sacrilege. They've demolished all ethical limits anyone should uphold. Utterly vile," Angela uttered in stunned horror, her hand flying to her lips in astonishment.
"They're beyond human now... no true human would descend to such depths. Power has corrupted their sight," Vanessa observed evenly, though her words brimmed with revulsion.
"You're right. No person with humanity would sink that far... they've become beasts—merciless and devoured by avarice," Yuan murmured softly, his contempt ringing clear.
Shortly after, the discussion wrapped up. Emperor Rhex organized quarters in the palace for the four Dukes, Yuan, and his companions.
Though Yuan first turned down the invitation, the Demon Emperor pressed them to remain overnight, forcing Yuan to relent.
"Today's revelations hit us like thunder... I still struggle to accept how the Gods twisted the whole world for their gain," Valeria whispered the moment she stepped into the chamber Emperor Rhex had set aside for them.
"Not true gods... merely mortals who crowned themselves divine. They're no better than the rest," Rose chimed in with a faint breath.
"Their downfall from the heavens draws near. Since they targeted us, I'll force them to plead for mercy," Yuan declared resolutely while settling onto the bed.
A broad smile lit his features as he added, "The spectacle of them groveling at our feet, desperate for mercy, will be unforgettable. That's when they'll grasp the cost of their avarice and the folly of pursuing us."
"The High Heaven holds the teleportation mechanism. Their end was fated at our hands," Valeria laughed lightly, encircling him with her arms and leaning her bosom against his back.
"Yes, it certainly appears so," Yuan answered smilingly, giving a small nod.
"What's our next stop?" Julie inquired, perching next to him with evident interest.
"Vampire lands. They've always fascinated me—I've devoured countless tales about them before," Yuan responded with a subtle grin.
"Vampires... I'm not sure that's wise, Yuan," Kitsura cautioned, concern etching her features.
"Why not? We can take on any foe. What threat do they pose? Keep in mind—our power rivals anyone in this realm," Yuan countered assuredly.
"When you frame it like that, I guess there's no stopping us..." she relented with a sigh, shaking her head in defeat.
Yuan then faced his mother and questioned, "Your thoughts on Rhex, Mom? Any sense he's scheming against us?"
"He doesn't strike me as wicked, dear. His sincerity shone through, and his devotion to his subjects marks a true leader. I doubt he harbors any secret agendas toward us," Anna Grace answered promptly.
"Got it... he's trustworthy then," Yuan affirmed, nodding pensively.
"Absolutely," Anna Grace agreed with a gentle smile.
"How about allying with him to topple the Gods? Facing all those Divine Knights from the High Heaven alone would be a nightmare," Yuan proposed steadily.
