My Celestial Ascension Chapter 900: A Shocking Revelation

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Two more dukes, Alric Vane and Corvin Hale, arrived in the Imperial Hall, greeting Emperor Rhex before eyeing Yuan's group of humans and demi-humans with contempt. Their attention quickly fixed on Selvariel, the angel among them, sparking immediate fury and disgust as they demanded to know her presence in the palace. Rhex calmed the tense atmosphere, revealing that the proud battle angel now served Yuan, leaving the dukes stunned and disbelieving. Tensions escalated when Duke Hexryn mocked the newcomers, igniting a heated verbal clash with Alric over personal insults, which Rhex swiftly halted before introducing the dukes to the visitors.

Rhex guided the group into another chamber to address weighty issues. Yuan and his companions trailed after him without hesitation, drawn by their eagerness to uncover the Demon Emperor's intentions.

Yet, not one of them harbored any concerns. They stood prepared to confront whatever challenges arose, backed by their formidable might to break free unscathed.

"Please take a seat, everyone," Rhex invited with a warm smile, motioning to the sofas before easing into one.

Yuan and the rest acknowledged with nods and claimed spots on the sofas. The four dukes mirrored their actions and settled in too.

The attendants hurried in, placing tea and treats on the table, and soon it brimmed with aromatic brews and an array of tempting delights.

Rhex waved for the servants to depart the room, and they complied at once, offering slight bows as they slipped out.

With the servants gone, Rhex turned to Yuan and inquired, "So, young man, what drove you to brave such peril by piercing the enigmatic storm barrier to reach this place?"

"You must have had a compelling motive, given the sheer danger involved. We ourselves steer clear of it, much less attempt to traverse it."

"You’re correct on that point. We indeed came here for a purpose—one of great importance," Yuan agreed with a subtle smile, offering no denial.

He went on, "That said, we’ve accomplished our goal already. At this point, we’re just journeying across the continent prior to departure. We wouldn’t pass up the chance to wander the renowned Demonic Continent."

"And precisely what were you seeking? It surely wasn’t anything trivial," Duke Hexryn interjected abruptly, her interest plain to see.

With a faint smirk, she added, "I’m genuinely intrigued to learn what would compel you to venture so far, risking everything by breaching the mysterious storm barrier..."

"Even if I explained it, you wouldn’t grasp it. It lies beyond mortal comprehension," Yuan answered steadily, pausing to take a light sip of his tea.

Hearing this, Duke Hexryn’s face contorted a bit, her irritation hard to conceal.

Meanwhile, Emperor Rhex, Duke Alric, and Duke Corvin arched their eyebrows, all fixing their gazes on Yuan. They shared a profound curiosity about what had pulled him to the Demonic Continent.

Wearing a frown of annoyance, Duke Hexryn declared, "Young man, you ought not to dismiss others so casually. I’ve endured exactly a thousand years of life, and scant few things in this realm escape my knowledge."

"Age isn’t the issue here, Lady Hexryn," Yuan countered with a gentle exhale, casting a quick look at Long Yuyan before returning his attention to her.

Flashing a confident smile, he pressed on, "Truth be told, Lady Long Yuyan among us is the eldest. She’s existed for tens of thousands of years. To her, you’re little more than a mere youth."

This disclosure stunned every soul in the chamber. Even Emperor Rhex faltered, his eyes bulging in astonishment at the revelation.

It struck them as utterly preposterous, for they’d never encountered tales of anyone enduring such an unfathomable span while retaining the radiant beauty of a divine being.

Duke Hexryn’s lips parted and shut repeatedly, yet no words emerged. Overwhelmed by shock, she couldn’t muster a reply, wholly unprepared for anyone present to harbor such antiquity.

‘To imagine this woman carries that much age... yet appears so youthful, like someone in her early twenties. Is he fabricating her years?’ Duke Hexryn mused, struggling to accept it.

After all, Long Yuyan showed no trace of age. Most would peg her as a vibrant lady just entering her twenties.

Still, her bearing differed vastly from that of such youth. An aura of profound depth emanated from her, etched solely by the passage of ages.

"Age is just a figure. It bears no relation to wisdom," Long Yuyan stated with serene detachment, as if those around her ranked inferior—save for Yuan and his group.

"I’ve witnessed countless souls younger than I who wielded insights surpassing my own," she added in that same aloof manner.

"Regrettably, the times have shifted entirely now. The whole world has transformed... It’s tragic that such figures won’t grace this realm again," she murmured with a quiet breath before gracefully sipping her tea.

‘This woman remains an enigma... Her words elude my full grasp. The world has evolved, true—but not so drastically as to render it alien,’ Emperor Rhex reflected, exhaling silently within.

Moments passed before he voiced a sigh and remarked, "It’s hard to fathom that such a enigmatic presence shares our space. You are indeed a puzzle, Yuan."

Yuan offered only a smile in response, holding his tongue.

"That aside, allow me to impart some counsel," Rhex proceeded. "One of your caliber is fated to unleash vast upheavals upon this world."

"By all means, proceed. I’m all ears," Yuan answered with a composed grin.

Emperor Rhex’s features grew solemn as he warned, "Guard yourself against the Gods in the High Heaven. They insist this world adheres rigidly to their doctrines."

"The unknown terrifies them. Whatever defies their grasp, they deem a peril—and to them, you embody just that," he halted briefly before adding, "I perceive that you all harbor strength matching ours. That fact alone brands you a menace in their sight."

Yuan lifted his brows faintly while absorbing the words. This detail was fresh, although he long knew the Gods yearned for his abilities, having clashed with and vanquished several in the past.

Noticing the faint shift in Yuan’s demeanor, Emperor Rhex drew in a steadying breath. From that expression alone, he discerned Yuan’s prior brushes with the Gods.

‘Evidently, the Gods have already launched their assaults on him... I never anticipated this turn,’ he pondered with a burdened sigh.

"I appreciate the warning. Still, they’ve already set their schemes in motion against us. Actually, I’ve slain a handful of gods prior to arriving here," Yuan stated offhandedly, as if it were a minor footnote.

"..." The room plunged into hush, and astonishment gripped all as the words sank in. Their eyes stretched wide in utter incredulity.

For several minutes thereafter, silence enveloped the chamber. No one spoke a syllable, the revelation’s impact rendering them mute.

"Young man, refrain from jesting about slaying gods. This isn’t a light topic. One god alone could raze a whole city—they wield such might," Duke Corvin intoned gravely, his countenance stern.
