My Celestial Ascension Chapter 890: A Small Misunderstanding

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Yuan accepted the jade token from Long Yuyan and unlocked the Heaven Sealing Pagoda, a Celestial Grade treasure of the fallen Earth Immortal Sect, stepping inside with his wives to uncover floors brimming with priceless artifacts. Amid the treasures, they encountered the sinister Demon Lord’s Demon Core and a rare Mutated Demon Core, both of which Yuan claimed for their immense value, evoking whispers of ancient legends about devouring such relics. Reaching the top floor, the jade token fused into a slot, awakening the pagoda's spirit and binding it to Yuan as its new master, infusing him with profound Qi that propelled his breakthrough to the first level of Spirit King. With newfound authority over the divine artifact capable of sealing immortals, Yuan teleported his companions outside, shrank the pagoda to pocket size, and left the sect with Long Yuyan in tow.

After everyone had exited the Earth Immortal Sect, Long Yuyan stared at her environment with a stunned look on her face, then inhaled deeply and shut her eyes for just an instant.

"The world has truly changed... so much that I don’t even recognize it anymore," she said shortly after reopening her eyes.

Everything around her appeared utterly foreign, almost as if she'd been flung into a whole new dimension, which filled her with a disturbing sense of alienation.

Tremendous amounts of time had elapsed since her captivity in the Earth Immortal Sect's treasury, and with her freedom now restored, the landscape that once felt like home looked completely bizarre.

’So much time has passed... just what is my fate in this world? Why was I the only one who survived? Is it destiny, or am I merely a chess piece on someone’s board?’

Myriad doubts flooded Long Yuyan’s thoughts, every one a profound enigma without any resolution.

She glanced at Yuan, then turned her attention to Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan.

’Both of them are obviously Divine Beasts... with bloodlines so pure and potent that they challenge reason. And yet, they are following a young human who isn’t even a hundred years old.’

Long Yuyan remained unable to accept that two haughty Divine Beasts would choose to trail after Yuan and behave so intimately with him. The very image left her profoundly astonished.

Divine Beasts carried such enormous pride that they would never bow their heads or yield to a human’s orders. Even if that human boasted exceptional talent, it would remain intolerable.

Especially phoenixes—among every being, they stood as the most haughty and conceited. They scorned all others, and even among their kind, they looked down on those with inferior bloodlines.

’There is something else about this young man... he can befriend Divine Beasts and make them willingly listen to him. This is not something just anyone can achieve,’ Long Yuyan pondered as her eyes stayed fixed on Yuan.

"So, where exactly are we?" she inquired, peering around with interest.

"We’re on the Demonic Continent—more precisely, within the territory of the Demon Empire," Yuan answered with a serene smile.

The instant Long Yuyan caught those words, her face hardened with frost, on the verge of exploding in fury. But she clamped down on her emotions with effort.

"Demon Empire, you say? So those repulsive creatures still exist, huh? What a nuisance..." Long Yuyan grumbled, her tone laced with contempt, her gaze as chill as frost.

"Hahaha! Miss Long, it seems you’ve misunderstood something. Allow me to clarify," Yuan chuckled lightly.

And without delay, he started detailing everything to clear up her confusion.

"I see... it turned out quite the opposite of what I thought," Long Yuyan breathed out gently once she grasped that the so-called ’demons’ of the Demonic Continent weren’t the same vicious demons that once ravaged the Nine Heavens.

"Indeed. It’s just that humans referred to them as demons... they have no relationship with the real demons at all," Yuan affirmed, giving a subtle nod and smile.

"Humans are greedy, and their hearts are weak... they fear everything they don’t understand or anything too powerful. It has been like this since the beginning, and it will always remain that way," Long Yuyan whispered after a short silence.

She then questioned, "So where are we going now?"

"We will be traveling," Yuan responded with a grin, then added, "I’ve been searching for a way to travel somewhere very far away. To reach that place, I need a teleportation device."

"Unfortunately, I don’t know where such a teleportation device is located in this world. So for now, we’re essentially searching across the world for one," he elaborated with a gentle sigh.

"I see... so you’re looking for a teleportation device," Long Yuyan hesitated for a second before continuing, "Actually, I might be able to help you with that. I know the locations where teleportation devices existed in the past."

"Hmm..." Yuan eyed her briefly before responding, "Even if you know their locations, that knowledge comes from the past. This is no longer the Divine Heaven you remember."

Long Yuyan mulled over his statement for a bit, then gave a soft nod and sigh. "You’re right. This world is far too small to be the Divine Heaven."

"The Divine Heaven was so vast that it would take months for cultivators to travel from one city to another. Most cultivators couldn’t even traverse the entire world in their lifetime."

"It’s like comparing a pebble to a towering mountain—this world is simply too small," Long Yuyan remarked as she let out a quiet sigh.

’Was the Divine Heaven really that massive?’ Yuan and his wives pondered silently upon hearing her description.

After some reflection, Long Yuyan spoke once more. "Anyway, there was once a floating island near the Earth Immortal Sect that housed a massive teleportation device. If I remember correctly, it was one of the most powerful teleportation devices ever created."

"It should still exist in this world, if I’m not mistaken. After all, that floating island was the Holy Land of the Earth Immortal Sect," Long Yuyan clarified.

"I see..." Yuan nodded gradually as understanding hit him.

The High Heaven—the enormous island hovering in the skies where the so-called gods now dwelled. It fit Long Yuyan’s account exactly, being the sole floating island in this realm that soared above the clouds.

’So we have to go to the High Heaven now... this is truly unexpected. I was already planning to head there if we didn’t find any clues here,’ Yuan grinned to himself.

"The Holy Land of the Earth Immortal Sect has a different name now," Yuan stated while facing Long Yuyan. "It’s now known as the High Heaven."

"Oh? Who would dare rename the Holy Land of the Earth Immortal Sect? And with such an absurd name at that," Long Yuyan arched her eyebrows as she met Yuan’s eyes, her stare piercing, a hint of murderous aura emanating from her.

"There are some fools... they call themselves the gods of this world. They’re so arrogant that they don’t even understand their own standing," Valeria responded with a slight huff.

"Is that so... it seems there’s quite a bit of drama waiting for me in this world," Long Yuyan murmured under her breath, her gaze growing icy.

Not long afterward, Yuan and his wives departed the spot and soared toward another city.

With the teleportation device’s location now known, they could ease up a touch and spend some time observing the continent.

They weren’t sure if they’d ever return to glimpse the Demonic Continent after departing this realm.

It made sense to explore beforehand and head back to Earth afterward. This secluded continent held so much to discover, and up to now, they’d only met demons—plenty of other races resided here too.

"So, where does this teleportation device lead us?" Yuan queried Long Yuyan, his interest clear as he pondered the destination for him and his wives upon using it.

"The receiver is a massive mountain. The entire mountain itself is a giant teleportation device. It’s called Mount Kailash—it’s regarded as a Holy Ground with an unknown origin," Long Yuyan answered.

At those words, Yuan’s eyes bulged in shock. He stood too amazed to speak, since the name rang so familiar to him.

He’d encountered mentions of this site endlessly in his previous life on Earth, where it too was seen as a Holy Ground shrouded in mystery.

’Mount Kailash... it’s from Earth! It’s definitely from Earth!’ Yuan cried out in his mind, his eyes alight with thrill.

’I’ve really found a way back to Earth! This is completely unexpected...’ Yuan reflected, a broad grin blooming on his features.

Anna Grace spotted his look right away and smiled as she inquired, "Why are you smiling like that, darling?"

"Well, because I’m happy... in fact, I’m extremely excited right now," Yuan answered with a grin.

Long Yuyan observed Yuan and sensed that he knew the spot she’d named. Even so, she couldn’t shake her curiosity about how he recognized Mount Kailash.

A few minutes passed, and Yuan and his wives caught sight of a huge city far off, one even grander than the last they’d visited.

They landed not far from the city, unwilling to draw excessive notice, given that their looks would surely spark stares anyway.

As they neared the city entrance, the guards there quickly spotted them and motioned for Yuan and his companions to halt.

"Who are you people? You don’t look like anyone from the Demon Empire. What is your business here?" one guard demanded in a harsh tone, his keen eyes scanning Yuan and his wives.

"We are a group of travelers... we happened to pass by and decided to stay the night here. We came from Hexoria City," Yuan advanced and responded steadily.

’Hexoria City... are these the group of people mentioned to our Lord by the Duke?’ the guard mused silently as he examined Yuan and his wives closer.

"How long are you planning to stay here?" he questioned, raising his eyes a bit.

"Not more than three days," Yuan replied promptly.

"In that case, you may enter our city. However, you must follow our laws and not cause any disturbances," the guard instructed while passing Yuan a slim pamphlet.

"Also, you must pay the entry fee. It’s mandatory."

Yuan agreed with a nod and promptly offered the needed fee before guiding his group inside the city.

Once in, Yuan idly browsed the slim pamphlet before stowing it in his system storage and surveying the area.

The city resembled Hexoria City closely. The main distinctions were its greater size and denser crowds. Beyond that, it all felt recognizable.

"Let’s celebrate our gains. We’ve obtained so many valuable treasures, and we’ve also found what we were looking for. This is the perfect occasion for a proper celebration," Yuan suggested to his wives while spreading his Divine Sense to hunt for a restaurant.

Anna Grace and the rest nodded at once, their eagerness matching his after such an enormous haul.

Soon enough, they reached a restaurant’s doorway, and even from afar, the tantalizing scent of dishes wafted toward them.
