My Celestial Ascension Chapter 888: Long Yuyan

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Yuan and his wives navigated the eerie, abandoned Earth Immortal Sect toward the Medicine Pavilion, speculating on the mysterious disappearance of its cultivators—perhaps due to a catastrophic curse that wiped them out in an instant. Inside the protected pavilion, they discovered mostly degraded pills but gathered rare, priceless medicinal herbs from its six floors, treasures valuable even in the Nine Heavens. Proceeding to the sect's treasury deep within the mountains, they faced a massive steel door guarded by an ancient Flood Dragon according to the map. Fang Xiaoyan's blazing phoenix attack failed to dent the indestructible gate, prompting Yuan to unleash his Sword Aura for a shallow cut before invoking his ultimate technique, the Empyreal Severing Sword Strike, which erupted in a cataclysmic explosion against the barrier.

The sheer force of the assault shattered everything in its path. The resulting shockwave hit with such ferocity that Fang Xiaoyan and Xi Meili quickly formed a defensive barrier around the group, shielding them from the explosive blast that could have swept everyone away.

As the clouds of smoke and debris finally cleared, the view that emerged stunned the entire group—Nyx in particular, her eyes stretching wide with sheer astonishment.

’What in the world was that strike?! Its might was immense enough to wipe a whole mountain off the face of the earth without effort!!’ she screamed inside her mind upon seeing Yuan unleash his ultimate technique, rendering her utterly at a loss for words.

Her eyes then shifted to Yuan, who remained steady amid the wreckage with a assured grin on his lips, prompting her to release a heavy breath.

’Possessing power like that... no soul in this realm could stand against him. He holds the might to dominate every being here...’ she pondered, exhaling gently again.

Next, she directed her look toward Emma and offered a soft smile. ’My dear Emma has such fortune in securing this remarkable son-in-law. What a striking young man he is...’

The enormous metal gate stood almost obliterated from the strike, a huge slash etched right in its middle. It had warped inwards, forming a vast opening wide enough for any grown person to slip through without trouble.

’I never imagined it would drain almost half my Qi... this gate truly is extraordinary,’ Yuan reflected as he studied the wrecked entrance, surprise etching his features.

Facing his wives, Yuan declared, "Allow me a moment to restore my Qi before we proceed within. A formidable aura lingers just beyond this gate."

"That’s alright. We have no idea what dangers lurk inside, so it’s wise to brace for the gravest possibilities," Valeria responded with a serene grin.

Yuan gave a nod and settled into a lotus stance, shutting his eyes while he started replenishing his Qi.

Through every inch of his skin, he drew in a vast surge of Qi, refilling his stores with incredible speed.

Within mere moments, his Qi had returned to full strength, preparing him once more to venture into the vault and uncover its secrets.

"My Qi is restored. Time to venture in," Yuan announced as he rose and edged toward the damaged gate.

Anna Grace and the rest agreed with nods and slipped into the vault via the shattered breach, stepping with care around the razor-like remnants.

The gate material was itself a priceless artifact, and its jagged protrusions posed a real threat of grave harm.

Upon entering, Yuan and his wives found themselves awestruck by the vista ahead; it scarcely resembled the interior of a mountain.

At the heart sprawled a grand lake, crowned by a lofty pagoda rising from its midst. The landscape dazzled, with the water blanketed in myriad stunning lotus blooms.

A delightful, invigorating aroma from the blossoms permeated the space, offering a crisp influx of vitality. Yet Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan’s stares grew keen as they fixed on the tranquil lake surface.

"The foul odor of a dragon..." Fang Xiaoyan whispered lowly, her eyes sharp enough to pierce through the serene depths.

Xi Meili cast a fierce look at Fang Xiaoyan, her jaws tightening in fury.

"She doesn’t mean you, Meili," Yuan interjected, easing her with a tender peck on her cheek that brought a faint flush to her face.

Before Yuan and his wives could turn away, waves rippled over the lake’s face. Moments later, bubbles surfaced as though a colossal entity ascended from the abyss.

Gradually, the waters churned before a colossal dragon erupted from the lake, ascending skyward and wheeling about the grand pagoda at the water’s core.

ROOAAARRRRRRR!!!!

The dragon unleashed a horrifying bellow as it eyed Yuan and his wives by the lakeside—only to quake suddenly in dread.

Its stare fastened on Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan, brimming with panic as if it had already glimpsed its doom.

"Hmph!" Xi Meili scoffed icily at the dragon while holding her head high next to Yuan.

The dragon detected Xi Meili’s divine blood heritage and shook without restraint. The crushing aura filled it with such horror that it halted motionless, too afraid to budge.

"We’ll spare your life if you obey us," Yuan addressed the dragon steadily, his face unruffled, betraying no shock at its emergence.

The dragon swiftly bobbed its huge head, then its blue scales shimmered with a gentle azure glow, its body steadily contracting as it shifted to human shape.

The mighty dragon morphed into a female form, her graceful horns curving with elegance and allure. Her otherworldly beauty rivaled even that of Yuan’s wives.

"Pardon the insolence of this humble servant," she uttered as she bowed deeply to Xi Meili, her frame still quivering with fright.

’T-This defies belief!! How can a dragon bearing such pristine blood exist in this realm?!’ the dragon wailed in her thoughts, gripped by incredulity and dread.

"Relax. True to our word, we won’t end you," Xi Meili answered evenly, her bearing regal and steady.

After the dragon composed herself at last, Xi Meili inquired, "Now speak—what breed of dragon are you? It’s my first encounter with another of our kind. Your background intrigues me greatly."

"Apologies for the delay in presenting myself. I am Long Yuyan, formerly the guardian beast of the Earth Immortal Sect," Long Yuyan revealed to Yuan and his wives, her voice laced with profound deference.

She went on, "I carry the Azure Dragon Bloodline, yet I share no ties with the Azure Dragon Clan of the Divine Heaven, having started as a mere flood dragon before my lineage advanced."

"Hmm, you advanced your bloodline? Can that truly occur?" Yuan questioned, curiosity lighting his face in evident surprise.

"It certainly can. And remember, she ranks as a Divine Warrior–level cultivator," Fang Xiaoyan interjected, giving a gentle nod.

Drawing a steadying breath, Fang Xiaoyan elaborated, "Most Spirit Beasts hold the potential to advance their bloodline, though it occurs only once across their lifespan."

"Should they harbor even a hint of a potent lineage like the Azure Dragon Bloodline, they may refine it upon awakening. Yet this demands a colossal reserve of Spiritual Energy and an vast stretch of time."

"Given her long confinement in the Earth Immortal Sect’s treasury, she gained both the means and the duration to naturally elevate her bloodline," Fang Xiaoyan clarified with poise.

"Exactly so. I refined my bloodline on my own after it stirred. The Spiritual Spring under the lake made it all possible," Long Yuyan affirmed, nodding lightly.

"I understand... that explains the potent Spiritual Energy radiating from the lake’s waters. A Spiritual Spring truly rests below," Yuan murmured under his breath.

"Having been confined here for ages, do you know the sect’s fate? And the reason every cultivator fled this site?" Yuan pressed, at last raising the core concern.

"I know the events well. But it’s not as you might assume," Long Yuyan answered, her face tightening with anger flashing in her gaze.

She pressed on, "Life proceeded as usual until one fateful day when darkness cloaked the heavens and all fell lifeless to the earth without cause."

"Upon inspection, their souls had fled their forms. It resembled a mighty curse descending on this realm, splintering every soul. That moment haunts me eternally."

"That same day, some enigmatic power sealed me within this treasury. Before I could react, I found myself trapped inside, with no path to freedom. Since then, I’ve dwelt here in solitude," Long Yuyan recounted, sorrow clouding her features.

"I see... so all perished that day. Fate must have spared you," Yuan replied gently.

After a short silence, he added, "Why not join us once we’ve scoured the treasury? The world has transformed, and no cultivators remain in this realm now."

"Aside from us, not a single cultivator exists anywhere here," Anna Grace chimed in with a warm smile.

Long Yuyan went rigid at these words, her eyes flaring wide in alarm.

"W-What?! You say no cultivators linger in this world?! What catastrophe unfolded?!" she burst out in stunned outrage.

Yuan advanced and stated, "We lack the full tale of the past, but cultivation’s secrets faded with the ages."

"I suspect that incident ties into it. Thus, this world’s inhabitants lost all memory of cultivation, despite the plentiful spiritual energy still present," he detailed with composure.

"That’s utterly unforeseen..." Long Yuyan whispered in shock, her eyes yet rounded from the revelation.

Regaining her poise, she offered, "The pagoda holds the treasures. I’ll remain here while you all explore."

"Then let’s make haste within," Yuan urged as he and his wives assented before soaring toward the pagoda, leaving Nyx with Long Yuyan.

Nyx regarded Long Yuyan with an odd look, struggling to grasp that she faced an ancient entity who had endured for millennia.

Furthermore, this entity was a genuine dragon—a primordial Dragon from bygone eras, distinct from today’s lesser kin.

Long Yuyan eyed Nyx with intrigue too, puzzled by the nature of Nyx’s heritage.

’This female... she’s mortal, but harbors a mighty bloodline. I feel it plainly from here,’ Long Yuyan mused as her attention held on Nyx.

At that moment, Yuan and his wives reached the pagoda. Yet a colossal barrier door obstructed their advance.

Boom! A massive blast rang out as Yuan abruptly struck the door with his blade, channeling Sword Aura to heighten its ruinous force.

Once the haze dispersed, Yuan and his wives drew sharp breaths seeing the door untouched, without the slightest blemish.

"What on earth crafts this door? I couldn’t even scratch it?!" Yuan cried out in amazement, his wives mirroring his bewilderment.

Abruptly, Long Yuyan materialized before them, clutching a jade medallion.

"I neglected to note that only this token unlocks the pagoda," she remarked with an enigmatic grin while passing it to Yuan. "Feel free to unseal it and claim anything within."
