My Celestial Ascension Chapter 884: Spider Den

Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
Lady Hexryn and her butler maintain a close watch on Yuan’s group under direct orders from the Demon Emperor, while reports of unusual undead movements near the border stir growing concern within the Empire. Unaware of the surveillance, Yuan and his wives visit the Platinum Merchant Guild to purchase a rare map of the Demonic Continent to aid their search for ancient ruins. Their journey leads them toward Mount Rhel, where they encounter a venomous Purple Frog spirit beast guarding a swamp. Yuan quickly dispatches the creature with a single, powerful strike of his sword, splitting the monster in two.

Nyx stood there frozen, her gaze wide with astonishment after watching Yuan effortlessly cleave the massive frog in two with such poise and certainty.

"It is simply beyond belief... his power is immense... it makes sense why my daughter picked him as her spouse... she truly possesses keen insight and refined taste," Nyx whispered to herself, a faint smile touching her lips.

Witnessing Yuan in the heat of battle made him appear strikingly handsome to her; the display revealed a magnetic quality she hadn't detected before, causing a subtle flush to creep onto her cheeks.

Anna Grace and the others exchanged knowing glances as they observed Nyx. Emma, in particular, was already visualizing the inevitable outcome.

’It looks like Mother is finally starting to appreciate my husband’s allure... it won’t be long until she finds herself in his embrace...’ Emma mused, her own face warming with a hint of bashfulness.

In the meantime, Yuan caught sight of a crimson monster core within the frog's remains and promptly walked over to claim the prize.

’This is quite heavy and overflowing with Spiritual Energy... it will be of great use for Miss Zara’s cultivation,’ Yuan noted inwardly with a grin before returning to his group.

The party resumed their trek without further pause, mindful of the time already lost during the encounter with the Purple Frog.

Even though it had caused a delay, the detour proved profitable since they had secured a high-quality monster core.

Following another hour of travel, Yuan and his wives reached their destination. Looking down from their high altitude, they could make out the silhouettes of ancient, decaying ruins below.

Once they touched down on the earth, Yuan scanned the environment, observing that the terrain was dominated by thick woods and jagged peaks.

"Is this truly the spot?" he murmured, looking around with a hint of doubt as he took in the surroundings.

"Perhaps you should consult the map once more to confirm we are in the right place?" Leah suggested, her expression clouded with concern as she surveyed the area.

Yuan wasted no time and instantly pulled the map from his system storage.

’The coordinates match... but why does this area feel so unsettling? There is a very peculiar aura here,’ Yuan thought, his brow furrowing as he studied the parchment.

"Is something wrong with the location, dear?" Angela inquired softly, stepping closer to peer at the map with him.

"No, the map is perfectly accurate. It’s just... I have a strange feeling about this place, as if something is fundamentally wrong," Yuan explained, his gaze lingering on the crumbling structures with a worried look.

"What do you find so odd? To me, everything seems normal," Angela countered, appearing confused by Yuan's intuition.

She carefully inspected the perimeter and detected nothing out of the ordinary. Even after projecting her Divine Sense, she found nothing of note except for some old skeletons scattered in the distance.

Yuan and his wives noticed the human remains as well, but they paid them little mind, as the map had already designated this territory as a high-risk zone.

Suddenly, Yuan's eyes caught a flicker of movement far off, and he immediately cast out his Divine Sense to investigate the path ahead.

Instead of a beast, however, he only found the gaping maw of a massive cave; there were no monsters in sight.

’Was that just my mind playing tricks, or did something actually move?’ Yuan wondered, his expression puzzled as he stared toward the trees.

’I am certain I saw something shifting between those trunks... I couldn't have been mistaken.’

Anna Grace and the rest of the group watched him with confusion until Julie spoke up playfully, "What is it now? Did you spot a naked woman running through the woods?"

"Hahaha! That has to be it!" Valeria burst out laughing at Julie's teasing remark.

"Of course. His mind is constantly preoccupied with naked women," Rose added with a mischievous smirk and a nod.

"I can't really argue with that logic," Anna Grace agreed, a small smile playing on her face.

Yuan could only let out a soft sigh and shake his head, looking at them with an expression of total helplessness.

"Let's head forward. There's a large cave opening up ahead. We might discover something inside," Yuan directed the group.

With everyone in agreement, they pressed on, navigating through a landscape of toppled stone columns and ruined walls.

A few minutes later, they arrived at the mouth of a grand cavern. The entrance was constructed from an incredibly durable stone, so tough that not a single fracture marred the smooth surfaces of the massive, stacked slabs.

A gust of frigid air hit Yuan and his wives as they stood at the threshold, and they all felt the distinct sensation of multiple eyes tracking them from the shadows within.

The weight of one or more presences pulsed from the depths, sending a shiver down Nyx's spine that caused her to freeze, her legs refusing to move forward.

’What is this overwhelming sense of dread? I have never encountered such an aura... whatever is lurking in this darkness is lethal!’ Nyx screamed internally, her body shaking as terror gripped her features.

"It appears we have a welcoming committee waiting inside," Yuan remarked quietly. He turned to his wives and asked, "Shall we go in and meet them?"

"Definitely!" Vrasha replied with a fierce grin, drawing her blade from her spatial ring.

Valeria followed suit, as did the rest of the women. One by one, they readied their weapons and crossed into the cave.

The cavern was pitch black, but this was no obstacle for Yuan and his wives, who utilized their Divine Sense to navigate the gloom.

However, as they moved further in, they realized the cave walls possessed properties that suppressed their Divine Sense, drastically shortening their range of perception.

They were limited to sensing only a few meters ahead, making it impossible to tell what was actually waiting in the deep recesses of the tunnel.

"Our Divine Sense is being dampened the further we go... stay alert. I can already see thick webbing everywhere," Yuan cautioned his wives in a hushed tone.

His wives nodded silently, maintaining a cautious formation as they advanced.

Soon, they spotted countless small spiders skittering across the walls, their glowing red eyes shimmering like embers in the dark.

"The whole cave is crawling with spiders... there are so many," Xi Meili noted, her face twisted in revulsion.

"Do you pick up any high-level monsters nearby?" Yuan asked her softly.

"Yes. There isn't just one—I sense several ahead. At least thirty of them," Xi Meili confirmed with a nod.

"I see... it's a spider nest. It seems that large shadow I saw earlier was a spider as well," Yuan whispered, continuing the march.

The sound of their footsteps rang out through the tunnels as they moved deeper, every member of the group on high alert for a potential ambush.

Minutes later, they reached a central chamber where gargantuan webs draped over every surface and thousands of spiders swarmed the floor and walls.

"This is absolutely revolting," Aisha groaned, staring at the nightmare before her and fighting back the urge to gag.

Thousands of white cocoons were suspended from the silk, and a thick green fluid dripped constantly from the overhead threads.

The liquid was incredibly corrosive; it hissed loudly upon hitting the floor, sending up plumes of acrid smoke as it ate into the stone.

The atmosphere was saturated with toxic fumes; a single lungful would be fatal to any mortal in seconds.

"Incredible... I can't believe such a massive colony exists here... and the map gave no warning of this," Vanessa whispered, covering her mouth in disbelief.

Suddenly, the earth shook as a colossal spider descended from the ceiling, hanging by a thick cord of silk and glaring at Yuan and his wives with glowing red eyes.

Moments later, dozens of similar spiders—slightly smaller but just as menacing—crawled out to surround the giant one.

"That big one must be the Queen. But those smaller ones will be a nuisance if we try to engage her directly," Yuan observed calmly.

Even when faced with such a terrifying horde, he showed no signs of panic. He remained entirely composed, acting as though the situation was perfectly under control.

"Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan can incinerate the smaller ones with their flames," Anna Grace suggested smoothly, tightening her hold on her weapon.

"Exactly. With their fire, Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan can thin out the swarm, even if there are millions of them," Yuan agreed with a nod and a smile.

"Leave the pests to us. You focus on the Queen," Fang Xiaoyan declared as she ignited her power, causing the room's temperature to skyrocket instantly.

Screeech!!! The spiders emitted piercing cries the moment they felt the heat, rearing back on their legs in instinctive terror.

Tens of thousands of small spiders began to tighten their circle around Yuan and his wives, closing in from every angle.

"Hmph!" Fang Xiaoyan slammed her foot down with force, and an explosion of fire erupted from her, racing across the floor in every direction.

Thousands of spiders were reduced to soot in an instant as the flames spread, eventually taking the form of a shimmering phoenix.

Simultaneously, Xi Meili took a deep breath, her neck glowing a fiery red as if liquid magma was surging through her veins.

Whoosh! A single blast of her dragon breath turned tens of thousands of spiders into ash. The swarm stood no chance against the combined might of Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan’s fire.

While those two managed the swarm, Yuan signaled his other wives to eliminate the larger guardian spiders.

Following his command, the wives began a systematic slaughter, their powerful techniques tearing through the spiders with lethal efficiency.

The monsters were cleaved apart before they could even register the pain, their green blood spraying through the air as the women charged through their ranks.

Meanwhile, Yuan began to walk forward slowly. He looked up at the Spider Queen and offered a cold, faint smile.

Screeeeeeech! The Queen let out a deafening roar and scurried across the ceiling before dropping down to land right in front of Yuan.

Without hesitation, the Queen lashed out with a massive, serrated leg, but Yuan simply raised his hand and stopped the blow with his bare palm.

"A mere Spirit Grandmaster-level beast dares to act so bold in my presence... learn your place!" Yuan barked, seizing the spider's leg and flinging the massive creature aside like it was nothing but a piece of trash.
