MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 895: Suggestion
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
A heavy, suffocating silence filled the room as everyone stood in absolute shock. Nobody found the right words to speak or knew how to process the revelation. Emotions became a tangled mess within their hearts, leaving only a thick quiet behind. Even though they had only been introduced to Aura Nova through Charles Evander a few hours prior, her personality had become clear to them very quickly.
She was vibrant, cheerful, and incredibly approachable—the type of person who effortlessly brightened any space she occupied. Looking at Aura Nova, no one would ever guess she carried such a dark history or that such a tragic tale was concealed behind her radiant smile.
The group attempted to envision Aura Nova in tears, but the image simply wouldn't form. Their minds rejected the concept. After all, Aura Nova had confessed that that specific night was the first and only time she had ever wept in her life. A profound sense of sympathy and pity welled up within them. With such deep emotional scars carved into her heart, it seemed nearly impossible for her to ever open herself to love again.
On the other hand, love remained a chaotic and unpredictable force. One does not choose the object of their affection or the timing of its arrival; it simply strikes, often when least expected. Despite the difficulty she faced, they secretly hoped she would eventually encounter someone worthy of her—someone capable of providing the happy ending she was owed.
“There’s no need to act like I’ve died; don’t let the mood get so tragic. It was just a broken heart and the end of a relationship. Plenty of people have survived the same thing,” Aura Nova remarked, a faint smile appearing on her face. Her voice remained light, almost as if she were discussing something insignificant. Her bond with Alexandra had been severed over a century ago, and whatever love she once harbored for him had long since dissolved into the passage of time.
To the men in the room, Alexandra was nothing short of an absolute idiot. Aura Nova possessed top-tier beauty that was captivating without being overbearing; in fact, Vega was the only one present who surpassed her. Furthermore, even without her mana core, Aura Nova still commanded the protection of Rain. Even if Alexandra's words had been a facade and his heart had been filled with terror, he should have remained by her side, at least for a while.
What level of cowardice and hatred must a person possess to vanish the moment disaster strikes?
Vega stepped forward with slow, graceful movements. She pulled Aura Nova into a hug and said in a comforting, soft tone, “I know you’ve likely moved on, but I’m giving you a hug anyway.” She gently patted Aura Nova’s back, offering a warm and steady touch.
Aura Nova returned the embrace without hesitation, smiling. “I appreciate it,” she whispered with sincere calmness.
While Vega hadn't endured a tragic backstory like some of the others, she could still empathize with Aura Nova's journey. One does not need to experience pain personally to recognize it. Sometimes, simple empathy is more than enough.
Veronica was the next to step toward her, her face displaying a calm but firm resolve. Resting a hand on Aura Nova’s shoulder, she declared with total confidence, “My best friend and I are making it our mission to find the perfect man for you.”
Aura Nova’s mouth twitched at the suggestion. Sharing her past didn't mean she was suddenly searching for a partner. She was perfectly content on her own; it wasn't as if she required a man to survive or lead a fulfilling life.
“I’m truly fine. There is no need to go to such trouble,” she replied, attempting to dismiss the idea. However, it was obvious from Veronica's expression that her mind was already made up.
“Don’t worry about a thing. We’re going to start with the absolute best,” Veronica added with a cheerful grin. “Anthony has seven subordinates under him who are all incredibly powerful and handsome. We’ll begin with them and see if love blossoms.” She was entirely serious about her plan. To her, leaving a sister in need was not an option. This was a moment for girls to support girls, and she was committed to the cause.
Hearing his subordinates mentioned, Anthony simply raised an eyebrow. His sky-blue eyes flickered toward Vega, knowing she must have been the one to tell Veronica about his ten followers. Vega caught his look and just shrugged, offering no words or explanations.
Altheria, the girlfriend of Aaaninja, wasn't sure how to react to the unfolding drama. She stayed close to Aaaninja, feeling it would be inappropriate to suddenly act bubbly around Aura Nova in such a moment. For now, she remained a quiet observer.
“What Veronica says is true,” Anthony chimed in with a relaxed tone. “The men under me are the elite of the elite. I’m certain your generous heart will find a connection with one of them.” He gave Aura Nova a wink and a thumbs-up, clearly finding the situation amusing.
Aura Nova let out a soft sigh of resignation. She realized that regardless of what she said, she wouldn't be able to dodge the matchmaking schemes Vega and Veronica were already formulating.
“Can you call them here now?” Veronica asked, her white eyes turning from Aura Nova to Anthony.
Anthony gave a brief nod and closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them, he replied calmly, “I can’t. They are currently in the middle of seclusion. Perhaps another time.”
Vega and Veronica nodded, understanding the situation. Even if those men served Anthony, they respected the fact that he couldn't just interrupt their Cultivation or training on a whim.
‘They’ve reached planetary-level combat power… quite impressive,’ Anthony mused internally, a small smile touching his lips.
“I just can’t wrap my head around how someone can spend three years with another person and not develop even a shred of genuine emotion,” Lucian remarked while staring at the ceiling with a troubled, thoughtful look. “Even if the whole thing was an act, still…”
Aaaninja, who had been silent, sighed quietly before weighing in. “I believe this is why humanity is often compared to demons when discussing greed, manipulation, and heartlessness.” He paused for a moment before adding, “But I must say, your strength is impressive. Not just in terms of Qi or physical power, but your emotional resilience. If I were you, I would have ended Alexandra’s life long ago.” His voice wasn't threatening; it remained as neutral and steady as always.
Aura Nova smiled at Aaaninja's comment. It wasn't the first time she’d heard such a sentiment. Valak, Rain, and even Charles Evander had expressed the same thought. However, they had all held back from killing Alexandra because she had specifically requested they let him be.
“Maybe I’ll try that after my next relationship,” Aura Nova joked, trying to lighten the mood. “If that one turns out to be a lie as well.” Her quip drew a few laughs, finally breaking the heavy tension in the room.
Lucian’s dark eyes moved from the ceiling to Kingsley, then to Aura Nova, and back to Kingsley again. With a mischievous grin, he suggested, “Since both of you are single, why don't you just consider this ramen timeline as your first date?”
The group stared at Lucian as if he were a complete moron. Aura Nova started laughing and shook her head. “I appreciate the idea, but I’ll pass,” she said.
Kingsley remained silent, his face as stoic and unreadable as ever. Yet, even without a word, it was clear to everyone that his stance was exactly the same as Aura Nova’s.
