Capítulo 2447: Chapter 218: Perfume Sea
A youthful monk rose prominently, clad in a kasaya adorned with gold plating, featuring a strikingly beautiful face, vermilion lips and pearly whites, with a tiny propitious red dot right at his forehead's middle, gaze sparkling like celestial bodies, holding a allure that edged out even Bai Lechan's divine looks.
His aura floated beyond the mortal realm, much like an exiled celestial being.
Positioned on the grand hall's peak, he swiftly drew all eyes toward him.
Even True Man Gai, who had shown scant interest at first, found himself inwardly admiring:
“Truly a striking young monk!”
Though no one fixated on mere looks, the youth's bearing was genuinely otherworldly and carried an undefinable air of dignity.
Within, his disdain faded, replaced by a touch of deference.
Buddha Tianyin regarded the young monk amid the assembly and gave an approving nod, his mismatched eyes—one dark, one violet-blue—brimming with approval, as he caressed his beard and inclined his head, before presenting him to True Man Gai and Wang Ba:
“This is the successor Buddha Lord I've designated, Kong Zen.”
“I've already brought him under my wing.”
“Once I enter nirvana, he'll step in for me to guide the inhabitants of the Glazed Buddha Realm onward…”
Hearing Buddha Tianyin's grave declaration, True Man Gai avoided any levity and offered a courteous bow to the young monk.
The young monk offered a faint smile, reciprocating with fitting decorum.
Next to him, Wang Ba kept his face composed, yet the solemn air around Kong Zen stirred a bit of unease in him:
“This fellow pulls off the role so well.”
Their thoughts linked seamlessly, and the moment the other emerged, he absorbed the extensive recollections of the Eastern Luli Buddha Realm straight from Kong Zen.
Besides certain hazy recollections, which covered spiritual practices, adventures within the Eastern Luli Buddha Realm, and even insights into Buddha Tianyin, Yan Poluo, and the like…
To his astonishment, Kong Zen's practice delved deeply into the four major Buddhist principles.
Besides those four principles, he had also grasped two extra avenues of “Void” and “Awareness.” Even if his Cultivation Base hadn't attained those heights, he neared the Bodhisattva Realm, standing as a mid-stage practitioner on the verge of facing the heavenly trial.
Such rapid progress in Cultivation was beyond doubt impressive.
As surprise filled him, Buddha Tianyin abruptly chuckled and remarked:
“Unless my memory fails me, Kong Zen originates from Little Cang World too—could it be you two are acquainted?”
Wang Ba felt a brief jolt, but Kong Zen had already grinned and quickly replied:
“In Little Cang World, I'd caught wind of Layman Taiyi, though I ascended before him, so we never crossed paths.”
Wang Ba caught his drift right away, paused briefly, and simply gave a subtle nod in recognition.
“Ah, understood.”
Buddha Tianyin's eyes briefly passed over the pair, a smile curving his lips as he nodded.
Next, he gestured toward the Arhat seized by Wang Ba inside the hall and addressed Kong Zen:
“Kong Zen, here's the captive Supreme True Buddha delivered by Layman Taiyi. Layman Taiyi claims the principles of Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind twisted these monks' natures. Since you follow this way, it's an ideal chance to investigate.”
Kong Zen was already aware of it through Wang Ba's recollections. Nonetheless, he feigned a trace of astonishment at the statement yet held his tongue, as Xin Yuan gathered the Arhat. Then Kong Zen pressed his palms together in reverence and responded:
“Understood, Buddha Lord.”
Following that, he retreated a couple of steps to position himself by Yan Poluo, fixing his gaze ahead, apparently paying no heed to Wang Ba.
“Martial nephew Kong Zen shines with looks and talent—Tianyin, you've chosen wisely.”
True Man Gai tossed out the compliment offhandedly, then turned to Wang Ba and inquired:
“Little Friend Taiyi, have you wrapped up your business here?”
Wang Ba picked up on True Man Gai's urge to depart, sparking a flurry of ideas in his mind.
Earlier turned down by True Man Gai, he hadn't surrendered, attempting instead to partner with Buddha Tianyin in hopes of shattering Duanhai Cliff and pursuing the sixth staff—the True Void Staff.
Yet with Kong Zen now set as the impending Buddha Lord of the Eastern Luli Buddha Realm, evidently, those concerns were moot; upon Kong Zen claiming the Buddha Realm's seat, his aims would unfold without effort.
Securing the sixth staff would then be straightforward.
That said, per Kong Zen's plan, their connection wasn't ripe for revelation just yet. After mulling it over, Wang Ba stated:
“Hardly anything left to settle. I originally wanted advice on the four major Buddhist principles. But as Buddha Tianyin hasn't walked that path, best to drop it.”
True Man Gai agreed with a nod:
“With that settled, Tianyin, focus on preserving your well-being. Should we head out now?”
Though a pang of regret hit him, Wang Ba assented, ready to join True Man Gai in farewelling Buddha Tianyin. But Buddha Tianyin chuckled and interjected:
“Layman Taiyi, with your queries still hanging, why rush off? Why not stay longer; I notice you haven't stepped into the Great Mahayana Realm yet. The Perfume Sea beneath could prove beneficial.”
Wang Ba's curiosity sparked at those words.
True Man Gai shot a look back at Wang Ba, grasping his mindset, and shook his head while saying:
“In that case, Little Friend Taiyi, remain here as I head back solo to Cloud Sky Realm.”
Buddha Tianyin let out a hearty laugh.
“True Man, our friendship spans years; with my distant journey imminent, why dash away? Let's chat properly now, to better face the Supreme True Buddha ahead unprepared. There's a crucial issue here needing your discussion; earlier moments weren't fitting, but we must address it without further wait.”
