Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2331: 177: Revealed (Part 3)
Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
When the golden Buddha’s Hand appeared, all four Great Bodhisattvas present displayed looks of pure delight.
“It’s the Great Bodhisattva!”
Right then, before the water curtain in the Cloud Sky Arena.
The youth in Purple Robes narrowed his eyes a bit, rising to his feet without thinking:
“The Northern Great Bodhisattva has joined the fray too…”
A subtle spark of happiness flickered in his gaze:
“Excellent! Taiyi really acts like a magnet for fortune, drawing in two Great Bodhisattvas on his own!”
“Anything else? With the Supreme True Buddha’s forces, is there more coming?”
He found himself glancing toward the outer realm.
Within the void, the stream of monks stepping out from the Seated Buddha started to thin out.
Still, the formidable figure he expected failed to show, so his caution remained sharp.
Through the water curtain, he watched as the Cloud Sky Realm’s dispatched cultivators began to waver, with even those crossing tribulations now facing losses. His face grew grave, yet he held back from sending reinforcements.
“Sect Leader Bai, if we hold off help any longer, they’ll collapse!”
The nearby cultivators, witnessing the shifts on the water curtain, felt their spirits sink with worry and tension.
In that instant, the entire Taoist Field trembled fiercely.
The assaults against the field grew fiercer by the moment.
But the Purple Robe youth stayed locked on the view beyond the realm, murmuring softly:
“Hold on just a while more, just a bit longer…”
High above the Sky Dome.
Wings spread wide behind Wang Ba, his form hovered in the air, eyes locked with intense focus on the gray-robed monk emerging slowly from the tear in the realm membrane, a heavy weight settling in his chest:
“Northern Great Bodhisattva!”
Even with the burden weighing on him, this development came as no surprise.
They had clashed twice before; clearly, he had caught the attention of this foe. Seeing the opponent return now felt entirely predictable.
That said, the precise timing of this arrival stirred unease in Wang Ba.
“Right now, the Lord of Six Paths lies seriously wounded and absent; the Western Great Bodhisattva guards the Buddha Kingdom; for the other three Great Bodhisattvas, their key duty isn’t chasing me down but orchestrating events to force out the Mahayana cultivators…”
“With all three Great Bodhisattvas making a direct move, how do they plan to draw those Mahayana experts?”
Naturally, it might stem from his recent strikes inflicting heavy damage on the Supreme True Buddha’s followers, leaving no Bodhisattva Realm powerhouse free to contain him, thus compelling the Great Bodhisattvas to intervene themselves.
Feeling the more than twenty Arhats and eight or nine Bodhisattvas tucked in his sleeve…
This idea, Wang Ba had to admit, held some truth.
Such reflections raced through his mind in mere moments.
The gray-robed monk had crossed from beyond the realm, his stare fixed solely on Wang Ba, a shadow of displeasure clouding his features.
This practitioner’s sharp Spiritual Sense and wary nature stood out among peers at his level.
Despite his efforts to mask his presence while passing the realm membrane and employing various tricks, he never imagined the other would evade him so swiftly.
Three attempts in succession, all foiled by this far weaker cultivator…
Though his temper soured, his face stayed composed as he regarded Wang Ba and spoke in a hushed tone:
“Layman Taiyi, now the Cloud Sky Realm stands encircled by my Buddha, flight is impossible. Why resist joining us? We carry karmic ties, yet we can free all from torment…”
Wang Ba kept his face steady, cutting in:
“Big monk, I doubt your forces can truly conquer the Cloud Sky Realm!”
At those words, the gray-robed monk let out a soft laugh:
“Oh, really?”
“The Cloud Sky Realm wants trades; can you offer enough in return?”
A jolt hit Wang Ba’s core, his eyes flashing with surprise.
The foe appeared aware of the Cloud Sky Realm’s intentions, yet pressed on into the realm. Did they truly trust their abundance of Bodhisattvas and Arhats to overwhelm any threat?
Noting the opponent’s lack of rush to strike, Wang Ba welcomed the stall, using it to air his questions:
“Why keep the Tianshang great monk hidden? Out of fear?”
Those words wiped the mercy from the gray-robed monk’s visage, anger rising as he pressed palms together and chanted a Buddha’s name quietly:
“Supreme True Buddha… Layman, such blasphemous speech invites doom if unchecked; the Tianshang Buddha Lord is the true reincarnation of Buddha, uttering such evil, I cannot spare your life!”
At once, his features hardened, hand thrusting forward!
A simple gesture, yet it morphed into a massive golden Buddha’s Hand, seizing from a distance!
Wang Ba stood ready, wings unfurling to take flight.
But then, unseen force crashed down, sealing every direction!
Like the crush of countless peaks!
Wang Ba’s thoughts reeled, swiftly lifting the Land-Parting Staff.
The golden Buddha’s Hand struck Wang Ba squarely; right away, the steadfast Earth Yellow Treasure Light quivered, as though on the verge of breaking!
“How is this possible?!”
Terror gripped Wang Ba’s heart!
From the day he wielded the Land-Parting Staff, nothing like this had ever happened!
Meanwhile, the gray-robed monk closed in without a word, face blending fury and calm as he murmured:
“Vast as the earth may be, this treasure bears weakness; spot the gap, and it falls…”
The Land-Parting Staff holds flaws?
Wang Ba’s spirits plummeted.
Indeed, the Land-Parting Staff carried imperfections; it held just twenty-nine Innate Cloud Bans, short seven from the Wind-Driving Staff’s full thirty-six.
In earlier battles, it had performed flawlessly, even prevailing against Taoist Man, so he’d overlooked the issue.
To think the Northern Great Bodhisattva would expose it now.
Not that Taoist Man fell short of the Northern Great Bodhisattva, but likely their paths diverged.
Ideas spun wildly, he wasted no time, pulling the sword sheath Dao Treasure and channeling immortal power.
The gray-robed monk, after exposing the Land-Parting Staff’s weakness with one strike, surged ahead, launching another palm at the trapped Wang Ba!
Cold intent filled his eyes, laced with victory.
This attack, he felt ninety percent sure to seize the foe!
In this dire instant.
Alarms blared in the gray-robed monk’s mind!
Without warning, a thunderous lion’s roar exploded near him!
Just a single bellow, yet it echoed like a horde of Demonic Beasts in unison!
His core trembled despite himself, the palm’s force fading as he pulled back in alarm.
Mighty sound waves flooded the whole Cloud Sky Realm at once!
The invading walkers and common demon slaves, struck by the roar, dropped dead from sheer terror!
Arhats too paled in dread, their Golden Bodies quaking!
The gray-robed monk whipped around in haste.
To his shock, far off on the ground, a majestic lion had materialized, rearing tall with thousands of heads whipping like a mane caught in the gale!
A diminutive form perched on the lion’s crown, white robes fluttering, hair streaming in the wind.
Those profound eyes, vast as the sea, regarded him without emotion.
And as the lion’s roar jolted Wang Ba alert, spotting the beast and the white-robed elder atop it, a mix of shock and joy surged through him:
“Master Chao?!”
