Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2292 - 164: Magical Combat (Part 1)

Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
Wang Ba observes the intense battle between Chen Zhongqi and Wisdom Dragon Bodhisattva, noting the potential connection between the monks' Dharma and the mysterious Immortal Pass. Despite being overwhelmed by the Bodhisattva’s top-grade Dao Treasure and Vajra Golden Body, Chen Zhongqi executes a desperate counterattack, piercing his opponent's brow and exposing thick Demonic Qi. Just as Chen Zhongqi moves to deliver a finishing blow, a powerful force from the Supreme True Buddha’s camp intervenes to save the Bodhisattva, prompting Wang Ba to step into the void to protect his ally. Amidst the rising tension and accusations of interference, Wang Ba finds himself facing the distant, looming presence of the Buddhist host and their central, massive Buddha.

A meat bun sat atop his head while his ears reached down to his shoulders, and a crimson mole marked the center of his forehead, giving him a look of solemn majesty.

Seated rigidly upon a lotus platform, his expression was draped in compassion as he gazed at the scene from afar.

A faint shiver ran through Wang Ba’s heart; the aura of this Great Buddha was remarkably similar to the Northern Great Bodhisattva he had encountered previously. He didn't need to guess to realize that the Buddha positioned in the center was likely one of the Four Directions Great Bodhisattvas.

As expected, Chen Zhongqi leaned in and whispered:

"That is the Eastern Great Bodhisattva. Of the four Great Bodhisattvas, three have gathered here, with only the Western Great Bodhisattva stationed elsewhere... Taoist Friend, you must exercise extreme caution shortly."

Wang Ba gave a slight nod and signaled for Chen Zhongqi to step back first.

Even though Chen Zhongqi was well aware of Wang Ba’s formidable power, a sense of dread lingered, causing him to linger just outside the Realm Membrane of the Cloud Sky Realm rather than entering immediately.

Surrounded by various Bodhisattvas and Arhats, the Eastern Great Bodhisattva raised a single hand vertically and began a low chant of the Buddha’s name. His deep voice, laced with a hint of pity, resonated through the air:

"Layman, the killing intent you carry is truly immense."

Upon hearing this, Wang Ba remained unruffled and replied with total indifference:

"Because of the Supreme True Buddha, the Realm Sea has been turned into a chaotic vortex, resembling a living hell. It is said, ‘If I do not descend into hell, who will?’ It is simply my responsibility to eradicate evil spirits."

Wang Ba was always patient with friends or potential allies, but he saw no reason for pleasantries when confronting enemies.

The surrounding monks were filled with indignation at his words and began to shout rebukes.

In contrast, cheers broke out within the Taoist Field of the Cloud Sky Realm.

True Man Ba, True Man Nie, and the accompanying cultivators were particularly vocal, their spirits lifted and ready to join Wang Ba in a crusade against these demonic monks.

Within the throng, a youth dressed in purple robes also nodded his head in silent approval.

Standing amidst the assembly of monks, the Eastern Great Bodhisattva only shook his head slowly. His face remained a mask of mercy as he sighed:

"Layman, you are too focused on outward forms; you perceive only the carnage and fail to recognize the painstaking labor of our Buddha. We are working to establish the Pure Land of Extreme Joy within the Realm Sea so that sentient beings may be freed from suffering and the struggle for the next life. Is this not a great merit...?"

A rare, mocking smile touched Wang Ba’s lips as he listened:

"I have heard the saying, ‘Until the saint perishes, the great thief will not stop.’

"While the context here is slightly different, the truth remains for those like you who claim to be holy and enlightened. The hardships of the masses should be solved by the people themselves. Why must you look down from your high perch and dictate the lives of others?"

Since his opponent was willing to waste time with idle chatter, Wang Ba was more than happy to use the opportunity to stall, even if it only bought him a few more moments.

However, his hopes were perhaps a bit too optimistic.

From a lotus platform on the left, a Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva silently maneuvered his seat to the front of the Eastern Great Bodhisattva. Looking much smaller by comparison, the Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva spoke with great reverence:

"This individual’s heart has been overtaken by a demonic nature; he is incapable of grasping the true essence of Buddha."

"Great Bodhisattva, I, your disciple, request permission to suppress this demon."

The Eastern Great Bodhisattva looked at the Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva, appearing as if he wanted to object, but he eventually let out a soft sigh and gave a small nod:

"You may go."

The Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva pressed his palms together in a salute and then departed from the lotus platform. Holding an Earth Yellow Treasure Bead, he flew straight toward Wang Ba.

He did not make the mistake of underestimating Wang Ba. As he drew near, he held up the Earth Yellow Treasure Bead and placed a finger to his lips, blowing across the jewel.

A gust of what looked like ordinary yellow wind surged toward Wang Ba.

Hidden within the gale were flying sands and tumbling rocks, creating a howling, turbulent storm.

At this sight, Chen Zhongqi’s expression grew pale, and he sent a frantic mental message to Wang Ba:

"Taoist Friend Taiyi, watch out! This monk is the ‘Golden Wind Bodhisattva,’ ranked twenty-ninth among the Bodhisattvas. His status is far above those like Wisdom Tu, and he is a master of the Wind Control Technique. This wind is infused with a lethal poison that can rot the five senses, the Spiritual Sense, and even dissolve the Prim..."

His warning stopped abruptly mid-word.

He watched in stunned silence as the yellow wind, unleashed by the Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva, reached Wang Ba’s side. Instead of striking, the wind became docile, swirling gently around Wang Ba like a tamed Spirit Beast bowing its head.

"How... how can this be?!"

The Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva’s eyes stretched wide with shock. He stared blankly at the wind encircling Wang Ba before looking down at the Earth Yellow Treasure Bead in his hand, his mind filled with confusion.

Wang Ba, however, simply raised a finger. The yellow wind suddenly reversed its course, rushing back like a frenzied demon or a rabid beast off its leash. In a flash, it swallowed the Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva. His focus shattered as he tried desperately to flee, but the wind tore at him with relentless fury.

The protective barrier around his body shattered instantly, and his Golden Body was eaten away by the wind’s poison, its radiance fading fast!

The Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva clutched his eyes, screaming in agony as blood poured out without stop!

This yellow wind did not just harm the physical form; it sliced through the skin to rot the Primordial Spirit. Even as the master of the wind, he was trapped in a torment he could not escape.

Only then did Wang Ba turn his head slightly to look at the bewildered Chen Zhongqi, asking curiously:

"Chen, what did you say that wind was supposed to erode?"

Watching the Yellow-skinned Bodhisattva wailing in the distance as the wind took its toll, Chen Zhongqi gulped instinctively and waved his hand dismissively:

"N-nothing... Taoist Friend, please carry on."

As Wang Ba turned back to the fight, Chen Zhongqi let out a long breath of relief.

He couldn't help but feel a bit foolish for his earlier concerns.

He was being ridiculous, actually worrying about Taoist Friend Taiyi...
