Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2269: 157: Fallen Soul (Part 3)

Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
Wang Ba and his companions venture into the treacherous environment of Soul Falling, where the suppression of rules leaves early-stage Tribulation-Transcending cultivators vulnerable and prone to losing their Primordial Spirits. While True Man Ba enforces strict precautions to survive the sinister gales and illusory whispers, Wang Ba relies on his robust foundation to maintain his senses. Tensions rise when True Man Ba reprimands Wang Ba for his perceived recklessness, only for Wang Ba to suddenly intervene in a misunderstood strike. This action reveals a hidden threat as Wang Ba captures a ghostly, fox-like creature lurking in the wind, proving his superior perception and startling the rest of the group.

“It is merely a rare species of Demonic Beast. I simply happen to possess a bit of knowledge regarding the Beast Taming Technique…”

While speaking, he rotated his palm and calmly retrieved the Black Fox. He then cast an apologetic gaze toward True Man Ba, gesturing with a remote salute:

“I failed to follow your guidance just now and nearly caused a mishap. I hope you can overlook this, Taoist Brother.”

Upon witnessing Wang Ba’s humble demeanor, the surrounding Cultivators could not help but wear strange expressions.

This True Man Ba harbored no malice; he had even prevented a Cultivator’s Primordial Spirit from scattering earlier. However, his abrasive temperament and attitude made him difficult for those present to tolerate.

Had it not been for their lack of familiarity with this region and True Man Ba’s specialized knowledge, the group likely would have abandoned him long ago.

Just now, True Man Taiyi had acted from afar to seize the vicious beast. Although he had technically undermined True Man Ba’s earlier warning, given True Man Ba’s known personality, even a gesture of peace from True Man Taiyi might not be accepted.

A few onlookers watched in silence, while others knit their brows, preparing to step in and mediate the tension.

True Man Ba descended directly in front of Wang Ba. His eyes were piercing as he observed the man, but then, to the shock of the gathered Cultivators, he let out a boisterous laugh:

“Excellent!”

“Taoist Friend Taiyi has been concealing his true depth. I failed to notice, which makes my earlier posturing quite comical.”

“As for the talk of causing trouble, there is no need to bring it up. With your level of skill, you have no reason to fear my words. On the contrary, I should express my gratitude for helping me avoid a potential threat.”

After finishing his sentence, he respectfully cupped his hands toward Wang Ba, offering a sincere apology for his previous behavior.

Wang Ba was caught slightly off guard. Judging by the man's tone, there was no hint of mockery, so he politely returned the salute.

Seeing this potential conflict vanish into thin air, the crowd collectively sighed in relief.

The thin-faced Cultivator who had cautioned Wang Ba earlier laughed softly and remarked:

“True Man Ba, this area remains hazardous. We should resume our journey immediately.”

True Man Ba’s brow furrowed slightly as he glanced at the thin-faced Cultivator. His voice lost the warmth it held for Wang Ba, turning somewhat icy:

“I am aware. Just keep up!”

The thin-faced Cultivator was stunned by the sudden coldness, momentarily speechless.

True Man Ba then turned back to Wang Ba, speaking with a harmonious smile:

“Taoist Friend Taiyi, I shall continue to lead from the front. You and Taoist Friend Nie should remain in the center. If any danger arises, I ask that you intervene when necessary.”

Wang Ba was somewhat puzzled by the blatant favoritism, yet he nodded in agreement:

“I shall do my utmost.”

Previously, he assumed the man was showing kindness because of some ulterior motive regarding True Man Nie.

It now appeared that True Man Ba simply reserved his courtesy for those he considered peers in terms of cultivation realm.

Wang Ba felt a slight stir of emotion at this realization.

Nevertheless, he did not allow himself to become arrogant because of this recognition.

True Man Ba resumed his position at the lead, and the rest of the group followed closely behind.

In the unending gloom, bizarre noises rose and fell intermittently. Perhaps because Wang Ba had captured the Black Fox, these sounds no longer drew close, merely echoing faintly in the distance.

Before long, a turbulent sea of surging waves, composed entirely of Chaos Origin Substance, appeared within their line of sight.

Deep within the Chaos Origin Substance, a massive, ink-black shadow could be seen.

“It is the Realm Embryo!”

Someone detected the colossal dark silhouette and cried out in astonishment.

Wang Ba’s gaze followed the voice, and he too could vaguely identify the boundaries of the Realm Embryo.

It pulsated with a slow rhythm, appearing to breathe the surrounding Chaos Origin Substance in and out!

Wang Ba felt a flicker of interest and moved to collect some of the nearby Chaos Origin Substance to nourish his Spirit Beasts.

Suddenly, True Man Ba’s voice rang out:

“Do not touch that Realm Embryo, and stay away from it! A terrifying creature is concealed within that Realm Embryo; even a late-stage Crossing Tribulation Cultivator would meet a grim fate there!”

A cold shiver ran down Wang Ba’s spine. He remembered encountering a Realm Embryo during his initial travels with the Little Cang World. He had sensed a threat then and dared not approach; it was likely that embryo also housed a fierce predator similar to this one.

The creature within this Realm Embryo was exceptionally well-hidden. Without True Man Ba’s warning, he would have failed to detect it and might have drawn closer out of curiosity.

The mere thought of what would have happened filled him with a sense of lingering dread...

Fortunately, True Man Ba seemed to have traversed this path before. After a short period of travel, they finally came to a halt at a location as dark as the deep sea.

Wang Ba surveyed the surroundings and felt his spirits lift.

In this exceptionally tranquil pocket of the void, dozens of swirling vortices of varying sizes were rotating slowly...
