Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2267: 57: Lost Souls

Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
Wang Ba learns that the families of Zhang's Ruins have refused to support the Cloud Sky Realm due to mutual distrust and fear of invasion. True Man Hanqing reveals a perilous path through the Falling Soul Domain, where boundary whirlpools may allow a traveler to bypass the Supreme True Buddha’s blockade. Eager to find a way back to the Sea of Chaos Realm, Wang Ba joins a group of cultivators from various domains to undertake the journey. Despite his status as a rogue cultivator drawing indifference from the group's leaders, he sets out toward the dangerous forbidden grounds.

“We would never have been forced into this wretched place if the Evil Monks of the Supreme True Buddha hadn't barricaded the regions surrounding the Cloud Sky Realm…”

Standing within the void, more than ten figures stared toward the horizon. They observed the surging ‘black waves’, floating debris, and the numerous enigmatic, shadowed, and silent zones of the Realm Sea that bore a striking resemblance to treacherous swamps.

To the naked eye, it appeared as a bottomless ocean, yet it also felt like an infinite, ancient swamp forest.

Even without stepping inside, the keen Spiritual Sense of these Tribulation-Transcending Realm cultivators allowed them to detect the perils concealed within.

“Is this the Soul Falling?”

“Does it truly contain many Realm Sea whirlpools?”

Wang Ba stood amidst the group, peering at the area ahead which was shrouded in a darkness deeper than its surroundings, a sense of expectation growing in his heart.

“Everyone, exercise extreme caution shortly. This Soul Falling is a natural death zone in the Realm Sea, filled with erratic laws and hidden risks. Dao Domains, Magic Tools, and Dao Treasures are severely suppressed here and cannot operate as intended; this is why few dare to enter lightly. However, to reach the Cloud Sky Realm, we are forced to take this path.”

The leader, a middle-stage Tribulation-Transcending Realm cultivator known as ‘True Man Ba’, turned slightly. He scanned the crowd with a grave look and added:

“Each of you is a fellow ally of the Cloud Sky Realm, so I will be direct.”

“Taoist Friend Nie and I are the only two middle-stage Tribulation-Transcending Realm cultivators present. We will not shrink from our duty; it is time for us to lead. Taoist Friend Nie and I shall safeguard the group from the front and rear until we locate a Realm Sea whirlpool that can transport us near the Cloud Sky Realm.”

“But be warned; this journey is hazardous. If any Taoist Friend fails to follow orders, acts on their own, or creates trouble for the group, I will show no mercy! You should all be familiar with my reputation.”

Though his volume was low, his words were biting and frigid, causing several cultivators to scowl.

Most were not from the same Domain as True Man Ba. As Tribulation-Transcending Realm cultivators, they were usually treated with great reverence in their own lands and were unaccustomed to such disrespect.

Nevertheless, since he was one of the two strongest experts here and the mission relied on his strength, no one stepped forward to challenge him.

Observing their silent nods of agreement, True Man Ba turned toward the female cultivator at his side, his expression softening into a smile:

“True Man Nie, is there anything you wish to add?”

The female cultivator was not a peerless beauty, but she possessed a serene aura. Dressed in a pale yellow robe, she answered quietly:

“True Man Ba has considered everything. I have nothing to add; we shall proceed according to your plans.”

True Man Ba nodded, clearly pleased.

“I shall take the lead then. Taoist Friend, please watch over the rear.”

The female cultivator named Nie gave a small nod and said nothing more.

True Man Ba did not seem to mind her brevity. He turned back to the others, his face darkening again as he shouted coldly:

“Keep up! If you wander off into danger, do not expect me to rescue you!”

With a flick of his sleeve, he stowed his Flying Dao Treasure and surged toward the distant ‘Soul Falling’ at high speed.

The remaining cultivators traded looks. Despite their irritation, they had no desire to cause a scene now. They stifled their anger and followed closely behind True Man Ba.

Wang Ba ignored True Man Ba’s harshness. Instead, he was mentally cross-referencing the locations of Soul Falling and the Cloud Sky Realm using the Yin Family map.

According to the map, the gap between the two was not vast. If he pushed the Wind-Driving Staff to its limits, he might arrive in roughly a month.

However, he knew the Yin Family map might be flawed and could contain major inaccuracies.

As they approached the entrance of Soul Falling, several cultivators began deploying Magic Tools and Talismans.

A cultivator standing beside Wang Ba, who wore a large earring and had blue patterns etched on his face, pulled an object from his sleeve and tossed it out.

Noticing Wang Ba’s interest, the patterned cultivator offered a piece of friendly advice:

“The interior of Soul Falling is incredibly dangerous. It is better to prepare now so you can protect yourself if others cannot... Taoist Friend Taiyi, you should do the same.”

“I appreciate the warning, Taoist Friend Guang. Some precautions are indeed necessary.”

Wang Ba thought for a moment before producing a Token. He pressed it lightly, activating a flicker of a complex Divine Pattern.

He cast the Token outside the boundary of Soul Falling, where it vanished without a sound.

Having learned from the incident where the Divine Corpse’s six-fingered hand disappeared, he had refined the Divine Pattern to ensure he could track it even across immense distances.

With his preparations finished, he followed the group into the dim, mysterious ‘deep swamp’.

The moment he crossed the threshold, the world turned pitch black, blurring his vision instantly.

His heart skipped a beat!

Tribulation-Transcending Realm cultivators usually possessed the sight to see through any darkness, yet this place obscured their vision entirely. This confirmed that the warnings from True Man Hanqing and True Man Ba were accurate.

“The laws of this place are truly distinct from the rest of the Realm Sea.”

He scanned his surroundings as the darkness rolled in like a deep-sea tide.

Sensing the local laws, he realized they were immense but utterly chaotic—resembling the messy scribbles of a novice artist without any logic or order.

In such a chaotic environment, not only were Dao Domains and Dao Treasures suppressed, but even the specific laws he had mastered were nearly impossible to manifest.
