Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2190 - 135: Karma (3)
Previously on Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant...
To his slight amazement, the other party did not immediately flee as before. Instead, the man inquired with a touch of curiosity:
"I believed I had already distanced myself from you. How did you manage to track me down again?"
Wisdom Magic Arhat was momentarily taken aback.
His thoughts raced to find a response.
Lowering his arms and pressing his palms together in a prayer gesture, he spoke with great gravity:
"Supreme True Buddha... As I have stated previously, by slaying my disciple, you inherited his karma. My pursuit is merely the inevitable consequence. The cycle of cause and effect is absolute, and retribution cannot be avoided. Naturally, I can find you!"
"Therefore, attempting to run is futile; it is nothing more than a fleeting illusion."
"The cycle of cause and effect?"
Wang Ba’s brow tightened.
This response was far from what he wanted to hear.
Whether in the Little Cang World or the Sea of Chaos Realm, he had never encountered a tangible 'rule of cause and effect.'
In the Little Cang World, he could certainly trace the sequence of events to understand outcomes.
However, it wasn't as if there were concrete laws one could grasp and manipulate, such as visible black and white threads. It was simply a matter of using sufficient data to deduce or backtrack through events.
Because of this, the method the monk used to locate him remained an unsettling mystery.
If this issue remained unresolved, it would be a source of endless trouble.
A thought struck him, and he asked:
"If you were to capture me, monk, and a third party arrived to rescue me, would that also be considered cause and effect?"
"Someone is backing you?"
Wisdom Magic Arhat frowned slightly:
"Are they from the Bodhisattva World?"
Wang Ba let out a soft laugh:
"Is that place across the Duanhai Cliff what you call the Bodhisattva World? Heh, if I truly originated from the Bodhisattva World, how could I have slipped away right under the Bodhisattva’s nose?"
Hearing this, Wisdom Magic Arhat’s frown deepened.
This was the very point that baffled him.
Given the divine techniques of Wisdom Void Bodhisattva, he was peerless beneath the Great Bodhisattva. Even typical Rob Cultivators could not evade his enlightened gaze. This was why he was tasked with the heavy duty of acting for the Lord of Six Paths, protecting this Buddha Kingdom and the Realm Sea Whirlpool.
The individual standing before him was powerful, yet he had not reached the level of an Arhat and should have been incapable of escaping Wisdom Void Bodhisattva.
Nevertheless, the reality was that this man had fled from the core of the Buddha Kingdom, swiftly executed Pu Yuan, and then retreated with composure. If several Bodhisattvas hadn't sensed the disturbance, he truly would have vanished.
It was truly bizarre.
In his shock, he suddenly glared at Wang Ba:
"You... could your benefactor be the Xiahou Demon?"
He then shook his head in denial: "No, your techniques are different... though you do somewhat bring to mind 'True Man Gai'..."
He cut himself off abruptly, appearing wary of True Man Gai, as if he feared even speaking the name aloud.
Wang Ba’s interest was piqued.
Observing the Arhat’s reaction, it was clear that while this Supreme True Buddha was powerful, he was not without enemies.
This was a rare bit of positive news.
Nonetheless, he pressed on:
"Monk, my question remains unanswered. If I am caught, would a rescue attempt be part of the cause and effect?"
Though Wisdom Magic Arhat didn't grasp the intent of the question, he nodded regardless:
"Naturally, it would."
Wang Ba then followed up:
"If my rescuer ends your life, wouldn't that sever the cause and effect?"
Wisdom Magic Arhat frowned, first nodding and then shaking his head:
"That would only sever the link between you and me. However, they would have already established a much larger karma with my Buddha Kingdom..."
Wang Ba interrupted suddenly:
"No, by that logic, there is another personal cause and effect that would also be cut."
The Arhat's brow furrowed:
"Who is the benefactor referring to?"
"Your disciple."
Wang Ba spoke with a calm voice.
Wisdom Magic Arhat fell into a brief silence. He looked at Wang Ba and slowly shook his head:
"You are correct. Within the Buddha Kingdom, Pu Yuan’s karma is tied only to me. If I were gone, he would no longer have any karmic entanglements..."
"In that case, you wouldn't be able to find me, would you?"
Wang Ba asked what seemed to be a redundant question.
The monk’s face grew dark as he whispered:
"If it were as you say and I was no longer here, how could I possibly find you?"
"However, even if I am gone, the cause and effect I carry will fall upon you and your supporters. A Bodhisattva would then act upon that karma... Once it begins, the cycle is endless. Do not cling to false hopes, benefactor."
Wang Ba looked thoughtful:
"So, your demise would simply attract even more powerful figures?"
Upon hearing this, Wisdom Magic Arhat seemed to realize the implication. His face showed a moment of confusion before he chuckled, though a hint of rage flickered in his smile:
"What? Do you actually plan to sever this cause and effect?"
Wang Ba shook his head gently:
"I have no such intention..."
Before he could finish his sentence, his expression turned grim.
He instantly triggered the Wind-Driving Staff, intending to bolt away by instinct.
But in the next heartbeat, his face paled!
A '卍' symbol suddenly manifested in the void, radiating an intense Buddha light!
The local laws of the world froze instantly, as if the very ocean had turned to solid ice.
And he, in that moment, was like a fish trapped within the frozen sea!
He was completely unable to move:
"You!"
Wisdom Magic Arhat unfolded his hands, discarding his previous mask of kindness to reveal a predatory grin:
"I have indulged the benefactor with so much conversation; does the benefactor still not realize why?"
Wang Ba stared at the monk’s ferocious expression. Despite his tense state, he shook his head:
"I simply find it strange, monk. For a practitioner of Buddhism with your level of Cultivation, why do you break your vow against anger so easily?"
"Is your heart truly stable enough to sustain such a high Cultivation base?"
