12 Chapter 12: Eggs, Condense Yin Power!_1 Translator: 549690339 The initial development was that the Precious Chicken produced an egg.
In the world of poultry, a chicken laying an egg is the most mundane of occurrences.
However, upon closer inspection, Wang Ba realized that this specific Precious Chicken egg had been fertilized.
What’s more, the sire was a male Spirit Chicken.
Just a few days prior, after Wang Ba had successfully mastered Stage I of the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream, he had observed one of the male Spirit Chickens acting particularly restless.
To his amazement, he today became an eyewitness to the male Spirit Chicken actually mating.
The visual of the massive Spirit Chicken mounting the smaller Precious Chicken was somewhat bizarre given their mismatched proportions.
Nevertheless, Wang Ba was absolutely thrilled by the sight.
Predictably, the mated hen laid an egg shortly thereafter.
To Wang Ba’s senses, the spiritual energy contained within this egg was significantly more concentrated than that of a standard Precious Chicken egg.
This discovery filled Wang Ba with a sense of anticipation.
He wondered what would emerge from the shell. Would it be a Spirit Chicken or a Precious Chicken?
Or perhaps a hybrid existing somewhere between the two species?
Naturally, the possibility of reproductive isolation existed, which might cause the egg to never hatch at all.
Nothing was guaranteed.
Regardless, the situation kept Wang Ba quite occupied.
To ensure other hungry chickens didn't peck at the egg, he isolated the hen and her egg, constructing a private, enclosed nest for them.
He then grouped the male Spirit Chicken with the remaining hens, including two female Spirit Chickens.
However, his concerns proved unfounded when he witnessed the male Spirit Chicken being bullied by a female Spirit Chicken.
He could only wish for the male Spirit Chicken to persist in mating with the other Precious Chicken hens.
He remained busy until the sun began to set.
Following his routine, he slaughtered a chicken. He chose to simmer it into a soup to ensure that the leakage of spiritual energy was kept to a minimum.
Once finished, he eradicated all evidence, burying the skeletal remains deep in the earth.
As he ate, he fell into deep thought.
In just a few days, Deacon Li would arrive to collect the required quota. Out of the 22 evolved Spirit Chickens, he had only consumed eight so far.
This progress was the result of his intense visualization of the Yin God to facilitate the absorption of spiritual energy.
Indeed, this was the second major discovery he had made.
By immediately beginning the contemplation of the Yin God after eating a Spirit Chicken, he could effectively harvest a small portion of the spiritual energy.
While this amount was less than a tenth of what usually escaped, it was a start.
This energy was essentially drawn into the Yins Government located at the center of his forehead.
Yet, up until now, the Yins Government had shown no signs of activity.
The legendary Power of the Yin God remained elusive to him.
It appeared that, besides the newfound ability to perceive spiritual energy clearly, mastering Stage I of the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream yielded no other benefits.
Even so, he refused to quit.
He wished to expend Lifespan to further advance the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream, but he faced two hurdles: first, his remaining lifespan was insufficient, and second, unlike the Body Strengthening Scripture, the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream had vanished from his panel’s upgrade options following his breakthrough.
He was left with no choice but to rely on persistent contemplation.
Today was no exception.
After finishing his heavy meal, he sat down cross-legged on the floor at once, diving into the contemplation of the Yin God without even pausing to clean his face.
He focused entirely on visualizing the form of the Yin God within his forehead.
Simultaneously, he monitored the spiritual energy inside him. Seeing a tiny fraction of that energy being successfully retained made him happier than if he had stumbled upon a Spirit Stone.
As the final wisp of spiritual energy was fully integrated, Wang Ba let out a long, slow breath.
Suddenly, at that exact moment, the center of Wang Ba’s forehead gave a sharp twitch!
Within his Yins Government, he sensed a crimson droplet, roughly the size of a peanut, manifesting out of thin air!
“This... This is the Power of the Yin God!”
In a flash of realization, he understood!
The droplet was incredibly tiny.
In comparison to this small drop, the space of the Yins Government felt like a vast void.
Yet, the impact it had on Wang Ba was monumental!
The moment the Power of the Yin God solidified, its true purpose became clear to him.
It could be summed up in one phrase: Grand deceptions manifest as reality!
By channeling the Power of the Yin God, one could perform deceptions right under someone’s nose, turning illusions into perceived truth!
Essentially, it was a mystical technique capable of fooling others at will!
So long as the Power of the Yin God wasn't depleted, ordinary individuals would find it impossible to see through the ruse!
Where on earth did Old Sun acquire such a high-level Cultivation method?
Doubt regarding Old Sun’s true identity began to flood Wang Ba’s mind.
Despite his limited experience, he could tell that the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream was anything but ordinary.
How could a mere mortal like Old Sun have come into possession of it?
He puzzled over it for a long time but found no answers.
However, he didn't dwell on it for too long. With this Power of the Yin God, he finally had a way to resolve a lingering concern.
He could finally sell the surplus Spirit Chickens!
This problem had been weighing on him. He needed to dispose of the Spirit Chickens without alerting Deacon Li.
Hiding one or two was simple, but concealing more than ten was an impossible task.
He couldn't eat them all in time, so his only choices were to discard them or sell them.
To simply throw them away felt like a terrible waste.
But selling them in bulk would surely attract unwanted attention.
Even if he rotated through different markets, the danger remained significant.
He had considered releasing them into the wild or just killing them off secretly.
But now, the Power of the Yin God offered a perfect way out.
He could use this power to alter his appearance and boldly sell the Spirit Chickens in the open.
Once the transaction was complete, he could simply return to his true form.
Unless he was caught in the very act, the risks were virtually non-existent.
He considered trying to deceive Deacon Li directly, but he hesitated.
Anyone holding a deacon position, even within the Outer Sect, likely possessed formidable talent; they might be able to pierce through his illusion.
He wasn't willing to gamble his life on that.
Therefore, selling the Spirit Chickens was the most logical path forward.
“But first, I must conduct a test!”
This raised a new issue: how to test it and who would be the subject?
He lived in isolation on his mountain, with no neighbors nearby.
Aside from his trips to the market, his only visitors were Old Hou, who brought the feed, and Niu Yong, who removed the manure.
After some deliberation, he decided these two would be his guinea pigs!
He resumed his daily visualizations.
The single droplet in his Yins Government remained unchanged for now.
If not for the spiritual energy he had been absorbing lately, it would have taken a month or two of pure visualization just to form one drop.
He continued his practice late into the night until sleep finally took him.
At dawn, he rose to handle the feeding and cleaning chores.
Not long after, Old Hou’s familiar shouting echoed from the base of the mansion.
Wang Ba’s heart skipped a beat as the droplet in his Yins Government began to whirl rapidly.
He hurried down the stairs with purpose.
Upon seeing him, Old Hou looked confused and greeted him tentatively:
“Good sir, might I ask if Wang Ba is currently in?”
Wang Ba replied with a faint, knowing smile, “Just a moment, I shall go and fetch him.”
“I am much obliged for your assistance.”
Old Hou, completely fooled, bowed low with a humble smile.
“Think nothing of it.”
Wang Ba turned and retreated back into the mansion, immediately cutting off the Power of the Yin God.
He then walked back out to Old Hou as his normal self.
He called out to the old man below:
“Old Hou!”
Old Hou nodded in greeting and placed the two buckets of chicken feed on the ground.
As Wang Ba took the buckets, Old Hou leaned in and whispered, asking about the tall, dark-faced man in the expensive robes he had just seen:
“Who was that tall, dark-faced fellow in the fancy silk? I’ve never seen him before! He wasn't a commoner like us, was he?”
“I’m not sure. He just appeared at the door and started asking about the birds. I didn't dare ask his business,” Wang Ba whispered back, nodding meaningfully toward the mansion.
Old Hou caught the hint and looked sympathetic.
Nodding his head, he said:
“He must have been an immortal.”
“Brother Wang, you had better be careful!”
With that, he quickly departed on his donkey cart, leaving the empty buckets behind.
Watching Old Hou leave, a small smile played on Wang Ba’s lips.
The tall, dark-faced man Old Hou described was, of course, Wang Ba himself.
It was a persona he had fabricated, and remarkably, Old Hou hadn't suspected a thing.
Even so, Wang Ba remained cautious. He waited until Niu Yong, the manure collector, arrived, and this time he projected the image of a yellow-faced Taoist.
Just as he anticipated, once the Power of the Yin God was dropped and he returned to his true form, the usually arrogant Niu Yong asked curiously about the yellow-faced Taoist’s identity.
“Just a friend,” Wang Ba answered vaguely, offering no further details.
His mysterious tone made Niu Yong wary.
This wasn't some lawless market; this was the territory of the East Saint Sect.
Even though it was the outer boundary where Sect Disciples rarely ventured, it was still their domain.
A yellow-faced Taoist appearing here, looking so different from a common laborer, was likely a member of the Sect.
A Sect Disciple, even one from the outer ranks, held a status far above men like them.
They lived only to serve such people. The chicken farm at Ding Villa existed solely to provide Spirit Chickens for the disciples' consumption.
Their work as manure collectors was meant to provide fertilizer for the spirit fields, which grew the spiritual medicine necessary for the disciples' Cultivation.
To these workers, Sect Disciples were their masters of fate!
They held the power of life and death over every servant.
This was why Niu Yong, who usually spoke to Wang Ba with a touch of condescension, was now wearing a fawning grin and pressing silver ingots into Wang Ba’s hand.
“Brother Wang, with friends like that, why stay in a place like this? See here, the price of manure has risen. Here is an additional ten taels of silver for you.”
“Eh? Oh... I... I don't know what to say...”
“It’s quite alright, you’ve earned it. Go on, get back to your guest, don’t keep him waiting.”
Standing at the mansion entrance, Wang Ba watched Niu Yong drive his cart away, feeling satisfied.
“I am ready to try it for real!”
