Chapter 11: Yins Government Established!
Wait, it looks like my remaining time has increased slightly.
Wang Ba caught a very subtle change.
Previously, after practicing the Body Strengthening Scripture, his lifespan stood at 125.1 years.
However, by the following morning, the number had shifted to 125.3.
Even though it was a mere gain of 0.2 years, he didn't miss it.
I only flipped through the Book of the Yin Gods Grand Dream last night. Other than that, I did nothing out of the ordinary.
Reading a book wouldn't naturally extend my life, so there must be another reason... Could it be the Spirit Chicken?
After some thought, he realized only the Spirit Chickens and spirit rice possessed such miraculous properties.
It made perfect sense; consuming food saturated with Spiritual Energy should naturally prolong a mortal's life.
Although the gain was minimal, it was still a delightful revelation.
After all, who would ever complain about having too much lifespan?
Wang Ba was no exception, especially since he was a heavy spender of his own years. Even 0.2 years was a contribution!
It turns out that a mortal eating a Spirit Chicken is a profitable venture after all.
Furthermore, I only had one drumstick. I might see even better results if I consume the entire bird.
Thinking this, Wang Ba felt much better.
He finally turned his full attention back to the Book of the Yin Gods Grand Dream.
He had spent the entire night studying it. While many parts remained obscure and he hadn't officially begun his Cultivation, he felt as though he had finally stepped over the threshold.
This specific Cultivation method requires the practitioner to visualize the Yin God at the center of their eyebrows. Through steady visualization and a century of dedicated effort, one can successfully open the Yins Government.
That marks the initial stage of this technique.
Once the Yins Government is established, one can begin to conceive the Power of the Yin God.
With this power, a person can make a small object seem insignificant or cause a larger form to block out the sun, possessing the talent to distort the line between reality and illusion.
While it lacked direct combat utility, it served as a singular and effective means of self-preservation.
Now that I've grasped the basics, I have a new skill for my repertoire. However, there is a problem—what exactly is this Yin God? The golden paper offers no description. What am I supposed to visualize?
Wang Ba stroked the short hair on his chin, lost in contemplation.
After a long period of reflection, he decided to consult his status panel.
Forget it. Since this Cultivation method is listed on the panel, it implies I can master it by spending my lifespan.
Besides, this technique seems quite compatible with me. Unlike the Body Strengthening Scripture, which demanded a ninefold time investment, this only requires 113.7 years.
While 113.7 years sounds like a massive amount, mastering the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream normally takes a full century of practice.
In contrast, an ordinary person could master the Body Strengthening Scripture in just one year, yet he had to sacrifice nine years of his life for it.
That was nine times the effort!
By comparison, the Book of Yin Gods Grand Dream was far more efficient for him.
After weighing his options, Wang Ba hesitated no longer and chose to pay the price.
[Lifespan -113.7 years!]
He felt a sudden, hollow weakness wash through his body, as if his very essence had been siphoned away!
But in the following instant—
Wang Ba’s eyes snapped wide open.
A crimson lotus suddenly manifested at the center of his brow!
The moment the lotus mark appeared, it began to writhe and expand aggressively, looking like the grasping claws of a demon.
Yet, this spreading red mark remained confined to the space between his eyebrows.
Eventually, it settled into the vague shape of a crimson figure sitting in a meditative posture.
Once the figure took shape, it turned into a streak of red light and surged directly into the center of Wang Ba’s forehead.
Simultaneously.
Wang Ba felt a sharp, icy chill at his brow!
The crimson image appeared automatically in his consciousness.
His mind instinctively followed the figure in deep meditation.
He could feel the area between his eyebrows swelling and strengthening at an incredible pace. It grew more powerful by the second!
The sensation intensified until it reached its absolute limit.
A sharp cracking sound echoed within his mind.
It felt as though a new realm was being birthed out of primordial chaos!
His brow point suddenly burst open!
Without needing any explanation, Wang Ba knew exactly what had happened.
A century of grueling practice had been condensed into a single moment.
The Yins Government was established!
With the opening of the Yins Government, Wang Ba felt as if the world had been transformed.
Everything around him appeared vibrant and incredibly detailed.
He could see ants marching across the window frame, the tiny vibrating hairs on their legs, and even the microscopic pores on those hairs...
He looked at the Spirit Chicken outside—a rooster—and could sense its scent was distinct from the others. It radiated a palpable sense of yearning, particularly when its gaze fell upon the hens...
He observed a faint, multicolored mist floating in the air—red, white, green, and countless other hues. This mist didn't block his sight; it was transparent and omnipresent, though very sparse.
The colors drifted lazily through the window, the furniture, and even his own body without any resistance.
Looking down, he saw the mist concentrated around a small stone in his hand—a four-part lower-grade spirit stone.
Is this Spiritual Energy?!
The realization hit Wang Ba instantly!
I can actually see Spiritual Energy!
According to the legends, only those gifted with a Spiritual Root could sense Spiritual Energy, drawing it into their bodies to build an immortal Foundation...
And yet here he was, not just sensing it, but seeing it clearly!
Wang Ba’s eyes bulged in shock.
He instinctively reached out to grab the mist.
However, his hand passed straight through the vapor as if it weren't there.
No, I need to attract it!
Wang Ba pulled his hand back, trying to draw the energy toward him.
But no matter how hard he tried, the Spiritual Energy drifted past him as if he were in a different dimension.
This filled him with anxiety; he couldn't stand watching the precious energy slip away.
Suddenly, he thought of a workaround.
He rushed to the pot where he had stewed the chicken, seeing thick, pure white Spiritual Energy billowing out from it.
Ignoring the heat, he began to shove the chicken into his mouth.
Then, he stared intently at his own stomach.
Just as he suspected.
His stomach acted like a chimney, with Spiritual Energy constantly leaking out from it.
Most of it escaped.
However, Wang Ba noticed that a tiny fraction was being intercepted by his tissues.
This small amount traveled through a complex web of hidden paths to every part of his body. Some was absorbed by his flesh, some pooled briefly in his lower abdomen, but most of it eventually flowed up to his forehead.
There was no doubt—these invisible paths were his Meridians.
Unfortunately, because he lacked a Spiritual Root, the energy that reached his Dantian simply leaked away.
It was ultimately consumed by the Yins Government.
But even the Yins Government could only catch the scraps of energy moving within him, let alone the thin energy floating in the atmosphere.
I still lack a Spiritual Root!
Wang Ba sighed and shook his head.
If he had one, he could likely harvest the majority of the energy from that chicken.
As it stood, he was retaining less than one percent.
However, because the energy in his body now had a destination, he soon felt a wave of hunger returning.
Instead of being worried, he was pleased. He threw more wood on the fire and warmed up the remaining food from the previous night.
He devoured a massive meal in one go.
By the time he finished, more than half the chicken and all the porridge were gone.
Watching the energy drift out of his gut, Wang Ba tried to use the Body Strengthening Scripture to capture it, but failed. Eventually, he just let it be.
After finishing breakfast, he got to work.
Due to the number of Spirit Chickens in the villa, he didn't want the delivery men coming inside, so he hauled the feed up from the base of the villa himself.
Thanks to his progress in the Body Strengthening Scripture and his improved health, carrying a forty-to-fifty-pound bucket of feed didn't even make him winded.
"Old Hou, I'll take two buckets today."
Wang Ba approached the delivery man he was friendly with, handed him a Precious Chicken egg, and spoke with a grin.
Since all twenty-two Precious Chickens had finished their transformation, their appetites had dropped. He didn't need the massive quantities he used to; two buckets sufficed.
"Got it! Just let me know if you need more. The Purification House is overflowing with extras, and Old Yang, the guy in charge of feed, is cursing about it every day!"
Old Hou took the egg with a happy smile. Delivering feed was back-breaking work with little pay. Unlike chicken raisers like Wang Ba, who could at least make a little extra by selling manure or the occasional egg, he had no perks.
Wang Ba’s interest was piqued by the comment.
"What kind of feed is piling up lately?"
"Spirit stone dust, rejected Qi-pill ingredients, even discarded spirit insects—more than I can count!"
Old Hou ticked the items off on his fingers.
"The Immortals must be making great strides in their training then!" Wang Ba joked.
Hearing this, Old Hou pursed his lips and lowered his voice. "I don't know about their training, but the Immortals are incredibly busy lately. Word is the young disciples are preparing for some big gathering. They say the Deacons at the outer Merit Room are working themselves to death."
Wang Ba wanted to dig deeper, but Old Hou shook his head and gestured toward the peaks above.
He dropped the subject immediately.
The powers of the Immortals were terrifying; who knew if they were eavesdropping? He didn't dare gossip further.
However, a thought took root in Wang Ba's mind.
The Immortals were all occupied?
Could this be an opening for him?
He couldn't see a clear path yet, so he returned to his routine of killing and eating chickens every day.
Over the next few days, he stumbled upon two more beneficial discoveries.
