Living In Another World With A Farm Chapter 8406: Attack (1)
Previously on Living In Another World With A Farm...
A massive army of 10,000 warriors, each towering around 1,000 meters in height, had shrouded the skies over Blood Mountain Island. Those in the Senluo Palace across from them stared in shock at these colossal shapes. They had no clue about the events unfolding on Blood Mountain Island. Unlike their own island's setup, the defensive formation there wasn't see-through; it was cloaked in a thick mist. From outside, no one could peek inside, leaving them blind to the happenings within. Of course, they remained unaware of Zhao Hai's presence. And they certainly didn't realize that folks on Blood Mountain Island could gaze out from within.
Yu Fengbo gazed at the enormous silhouettes above Blood Mountain Island. These giants dwarfed anything from their Senluo Palace. A single glance revealed they wouldn't be pushovers. This caused his brows to knit tightly. Sure, their Senluo Palace stood as a formidable ritual artifact, yet it lacked the straightforward handling of the Killing God Blade.
The Senluo Palace served as a Dharma artifact meant for group control. No single individual could wield it alone. Instead, a team managed it, and it couldn't be personally refined. That set it apart from the God-killing Blade, which grew stronger over time through nurturing. In contrast, the Senluo Palace's might stayed constant, showing no evolution.
Senluo Palace packed no small punch, yet it harbored a flaw: it demanded time to build up energy, and quite a bit at that. Their scheme had brewed for ages, but they hadn't allowed the Senluo Palace any chance to charge fully. They figured that even without it, a mighty celestial tool like the Senluo Palace could smash Blood Mountain Island in just a couple of strikes. Besides, their assault on Blood Mountain Island aimed mainly to spark clashes between the Bloody Massacre Sect's cultivators in the arena and those from the seven major sects. As long as fights erupted among them, grabbing Blood Mountain Island itself hardly mattered.
That's why they'd dismissed Blood Mountain Island at the start. But after several strikes bounced off harmlessly, surprise hit them hard. Plus, silence from the arena deepened their unease. This led to their choice to seize Blood Mountain Island for real. Because of that shift, they'd commanded the Senluo Palace to gather power and gear up for a devastating blow to claim Blood Mountain Island.
Yet the sudden shifts in Blood Mountain Island's barrier jolted Yu Fengbo. He stared at those behemoth forms, uncertainty gripping him. Just then, a fellow approached with a grim face and growled lowly, "Alliance leader, fresh reports say the Bloody Massacre Sect folks didn't clash with the seven major sects during the arena fight. They teamed up instead and pulled off some odd trick to free everyone from the small hall. The seven major sects have declared they'll stay out of our business now. Our scheme's gone bust!"
At those words, Yu Fengbo's ears rang, and darkness swam in his sight. He teetered on the edge of collapse. His frame trembled, but he steadied himself. Drawing a pair of shaky breaths, he rasped, "What's going on? Give me the details."
The man dipped his head and explained, "It's those Bloody Massacre Sect people. They sniffed out our plot. Then Ha Jing showed up and spilled it all to Jietian. Jietian stepped in next, faking an assault on the Blood Buddha Temple to fool the crowd. After that, he announced they'd uncovered our scheme. He added that the seven major sects would wash their hands of us. He marched his crew out, and now Ha Jing and his group are back."
"Can we trust this intel?" Yu Fengbo croaked. He desperately needed confirmation on this report's truth. If it held water, the terror would be immense. Their entire plot would lie in ruins. With the seven major sects ignoring them, the Bloody Massacre Sect could unleash full fury. They'd be utterly doomed.
"The intel's solid," the man assured. "Word is, the small hall's fallen to the Bloody Massacre Sect. Our agents inside got nabbed by them. Ha Jing slew Yu Yang with his own hands, and he handed the small hall to Zhao Hai as a prize. They say Zhao Hai's already refined it." Here, the small hall meant the phony Senluo Palace, forever dubbed the small hall for being a fake.
"How could that be? Ha Jing from the Bloody Massacre Sect might be a monk, but his fuse is short. Once he learns we're hitting the western defense line, he'd charge the small hall right away. Even if he skips our line at first, how could he unravel our scheme and team with Jietian to save the seven major sects' people? No way that's possible!" Yu Fengbo muttered, refusing to buy it.
"From what I gathered, it was Zhao Hai's brainchild. Ha Jing's let Zhao Hai down before. Judging by how he gifted the temple to Zhao Hai, it looks like payback for some huge favor. That's the biggest contribution Zhao Hai's made lately. So I reckon Zhao Hai spotted our plot and urged Ha Jing to pull this off. Rumor has it Zhao Hai's got major backing from the Bloody Massacre Sect's top brass!" the man told Yu Fengbo.
"Zhao Hai—it's that Zhao Hai again. He's only a legacy disciple. How's he pulling this off? Is the Bloody Massacre Sect pushing him forward on purpose, with someone bigger pulling strings behind?" Yu Fengbo scowled.
The man just shook his head at that and replied, "No idea. What's our move? Do we press the attack? The palace is nearly done charging." They stood on the brink of launching, but Blood Mountain Island's weird vibe left him doubting whether to proceed.
"Our scheme's kaput," Yu Fengbo stated icily. "We've got just one path left: go all-out against the Bloody Massacre Sect. If the Senluo Palace can snag Blood Mountain Island, we can hold their inner circle hostage and make them back off this round. We've clashed with them for years. I refuse to think they can crush us. Get set to strike. We have to claim Blood Mountain Island."
"Got it," the man acknowledged, then hurried off. He needed to relay the commands. Though the Senluo Palace was a charging celestial artifact, Yu Fengbo gripped the central controls. The rest could only obey and sync up with him. They couldn't sway the palace's functions. Still, they had to align with its upcoming actions. So they required word on the palace's next play.
The Senluo Palace operated like a battleship. The captain called all shots, but he couldn't run the vessel solo. The whole crew had to pitch in. Everyone followed the captain's lead. If he ordered fire, they'd ready the guns. If retreat was the call, they'd rev the engines.
Such was the Senluo Palace. With Yu Fengbo set on assault, all hands jumped to their posts. Note that the Senluo Palace boasted weapon setups too. Naturally, these were mostly arrays and drive mechanisms. It featured dual drive systems. The first was the energy-gathering array, which ran without crystal costs. It simply drew in ambient power for the Senluo Palace's use. But for heavy loads, crystals were essential, or the Senluo Palace would run dry on fuel.
The other drive system was another energy array, this one pulling from the cultivators' spiritual energy. Disciples could pour their power straight into the Senluo Palace to keep it moving. This system worked solo or paired with the first. Meaning, even sans the primary drive, cultivators could feed energy into the array and keep the Senluo Palace humming. But in combat, with the first system active, demands skyrocketed. Thus, extra spiritual power from cultivators boosted the Senluo Palace's output and strength.
With Yu Fengbo declaring a full-throttle push on Blood Mountain Island, both systems fired up together. The Senluo Palace housed an inner realm packed with cultivators. Upon the order, they funneled every bit of their power into the palace's arrays. Black radiance blazed across the structure, then surged into the hovering malicious ghosts. The ghosts wailed shrilly, their forms swelling fast. Soon, they morphed into black-armored ghost soldiers.
Once the ghost soldiers materialized, they formed ranks before the palace. Black light flared from the palace once more, twisting into chains that pierced the soldiers' bodies. The soldiers howled and charged ahead.
These ghost soldiers measured roughly 300 feet each. They fell far shorter than Blood Mountain Island's defenders, just a tenth their stature. Yet fearlessness drove them onward. As they barreled forward, the chains linking back to the Senluo Palace yanked taut. The palace hurtled after them. It looked set to slam straight into Blood Mountain Island's barrier.
Blood Mountain Island's soldiers snapped to action at the sight. Gripping their guan daos, they ignored the oncoming ghost soldiers. Their stares locked on the Senluo Palace. The front line hoisted their guan daos as one, aiming the blades squarely at the Senluo Palace.
As the lead soldiers targeted the Senluo Palace with their blades, the second line lifted theirs too, thrusting them out. But they didn't aim at the palace; they slid past the front rank to jab at the ghost soldiers. Meanwhile, the rear lines held firm, unmoved as if oblivious.
