"I have formulated a plan," Zhao Hai declared in a grave tone. "My intention is to gather all the shattered weapons and re-forge them. Even if the original materials cannot be isolated, the resulting mixture will serve as an alloy with respectable durability. We can utilize this metal to construct puppets. While they won't be high-quality, they will serve perfectly as cannon fodder, allowing us to conserve significant resources. Master, what is your opinion on this?"
Lei Gang was momentarily taken aback by the suggestion. After contemplating for a short while, he spoke solemnly, "That is a sound proposal. I will inform the Sect; we have a specific department that handles such matters. I'll arrange for the Sect's personnel to organize and deliver these materials to you."
"Understood, thank you, Master. Do you have any further instructions?" Zhao Hai nodded. "If there is nothing else, I plan to head to Blood Gale Island to inspect the situation. If everything is in order, I will begin restoring the defensive formation there."
Lei Gang replied firmly, "I have no other tasks for you. Proceed with your work. As it happens, your Third Uncle-Master is scheduled to depart for Blood Wind Island shortly. Once you have finished your business, go there directly to meet him." Zhao Hai signaled his understanding with a bow and then quietly withdrew from the room.
Once Zhao Hai had departed, Lei Gang turned toward Lei Xuan. "Third Brother, you should head to Blood Wind Island immediately to oversee the personnel there. Wait for Little Hai to arrive. He will be restoring the magic formations on your island during this trip. You must observe his progress closely. If his work is satisfactory, have him repair the formations on the other islands as well. It would be ideal to provide him with some Dark Souls to incorporate into the refining process; this should significantly bolster the island's defenses."
After Lei Xuan acknowledged the order, Lei Gang continued in a low voice, "Exercise extreme caution. Our enemies are numerous, particularly in the Western and Northwestern oceanic regions. Those areas have sustained massive damage and are prone to becoming war zones. Our priority must be the establishment of the island's defensive arrays. With them, we can withstand an assault for a duration, or at the very least, buy enough time to retreat."
Lei Xuan nodded and rose to leave, fully grasping Lei Gang’s concerns. Although the Bloody Massacre Sect had been severely weakened by Bai Xin’s betrayal, its foundational power remained intact, keeping it among the top ten Sects. Even if they were currently the weakest of the elite, they still far surpassed lesser organizations.
Under these conditions, any party daring to launch an attack would be doing so with immense preparation and strength. Such a confrontation would be brutal, and it was entirely possible for Island Lord level experts to perish. Lei Gang was determined to protect Lei Xuan; the three brothers had survived together for a long time, and he refused to lose any of them now, necessitating total preparation.
Meanwhile, Zhao Hai reached Shen Nanzheng’s primary killing courtyard. Upon hearing of his arrival, Shen Nanzheng immediately ushered him inside. Once they were seated, Shen Nanzheng looked at him with a hint of jealousy. "You lucky brat, the rewards you've secured this time are staggering. It’s unprecedented. In the entire history of the Blood Sea Realm, no disciple at the profound Qi realm has ever been appointed an Island Lord. You are the first, and likely the last for a long time to come. It’s truly impressive; I can't help but be envious."
Zhao Hai gave a wry smile. "Why would you be envious? I’m actually quite overwhelmed. I’ve been granted an island and full authority, but while I receive annual supplies, I have to recruit my own people. I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Regardless, since the land is mine, I must make it work. I came to bid you farewell, Senior Brother, as I must depart for Blood Gale Island. Since it is my territory now, you must visit me in the future."
Shen Nanzheng laughed loudly. "Rest assured, I will definitely visit. I’m genuinely curious to see what you make of Blood Gale Island. Keep in mind, if you require assistance, do not hesitate to ask. You are still part of Blood Drop Island. We will help you in any way we can; we are family, after all." Shen Nanzheng spoke with sincerity. While he envied Zhao Hai's luck, he understood the hardships of managing an island. Furthermore, he recognized the value of maintaining a strong bond with Zhao Hai, who was now a fellow Island Lord, regardless of his current Cultivation level.
"I appreciate that," Zhao Hai replied. He stood up, said his goodbyes to the others, and returned to his cave abode. After gathering his belongings, he headed to the teleportation formation. Amidst a burst of white light, he transported himself directly to Blood Gale Island. He traveled alone, choosing not to bring anyone from Blood Drop Island as part of his personal strategy.
As the white light faded, Zhao Hai found himself on a ruined island. The landscape was desolate, littered with the debris of shattered walls. Though cleared of corpses, the destruction was nearly total. Despite the ruin, the island’s scale was impressive—roughly half the size of Blood Drop Island—indicating that its previous master had been quite influential. That master was now dead, his essence merged back into the island that now belonged to Zhao Hai.
Surveying his new domain, Zhao Hai saw little of value. The structures were leveled, and anything of worth had been looted long ago. Nothing remained on the surface.
Undeterred, Zhao Hai moved to a different, massive teleportation array on the island. Stepping onto it, he vanished in another flash of light, reappearing within a vast subterranean cavern.
This underground chamber was expansive and dry, lined with numerous small cave dwellings. A magic formation at the ceiling cast a gentle radiance over the area. Zhao Hai observed many people moving between the dwellings.
These individuals appeared to be ordinary mortals; Zhao Hai could detect almost no fluctuations of supernatural power from them. They were the believers—the faithful slaves of Blood Gale Island who were born in this hidden space. Their lives were simple: they were provided with clothes and fasting pills to sustain them, but possessed nothing else.
The community was overseen by managers chosen from among the believers. Their primary duty was to ensure that everyone spent at least eight hours a day in prayer, directed toward the Island Lord. Statues of the Island Lord were placed in every room for this purpose.
In the center of the cavern sat a large square featuring a massive stone monument. Carved into its surface were the fundamental Cultivation techniques provided by the Bloody Massacre Sect. If a believer could successfully cultivate to the Dharma reserves realm using these methods, they and their families would be elevated from slavery to the status of men of sacrifice.
The managers didn't have much to govern other than monitoring the prayers. If a believer reached the required Cultivation level, the manager would report it to the Sect so the individual could be promoted to a death warrior, earning the manager a reward. If a manager reached that level themselves, they too could become a death warrior and be replaced by a successor.
Since the Sect provided the food and clothing, and the statues were pre-made, Zhao Hai had no administrative burdens here. While these loyal slaves generated the power of belief for him, he wasn't required to oversee their daily lives. Furthermore, the rules of the Sect strictly forbade these slaves from leaving the underground space until they reached the profound Dharma realm, a rule even an Island Lord had to follow.
Upon Zhao Hai’s arrival, the slaves immediately dropped to their knees, hailing him as the Island Lord without daring to look him in the eye. Zhao Hai remained indifferent; this was the established order of the Blood Sea Realm, and he had no desire to disrupt it. He was merely there to assess his assets.
Shortly after, an elderly man approached and knelt before him. "This old servant welcomes the Lord Island master. I am one of the managers here. Does the Lord have any commands for me?" The man had hurried over the moment he realized Zhao Hai had arrived.
Zhao Hai dismissed him with a wave. "It is nothing. I only came to observe. You may return to your duties." The old man bowed and retreated. After a quick survey, Zhao Hai confirmed he had roughly 10,000 slaves, including ten managers. Satisfied with the information, he left the slave quarters and returned to the surface. He had no intention of putting them to work above ground; they lacked talent, and he saw no reason to violate the Sect's standing regulations, especially given his current Cultivation rank.
