Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 2016 Chapter 968: Childlike Heart_2
Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
The malevolent spirits continued their relentless assault, tearing at their prey.
A deep, paralyzing chill began to seep into their hearts.
Just as they teetered on the brink of hopelessness, the surrounding evil ghosts suddenly shrieked and scattered in every direction, fleeing like startled beasts.
Master Gu and Fan Jin froze, exchanging bewildered looks. They were utterly confused by the sudden retreat, yet felt a wave of relief at having narrowly escaped death.
However, an instant later, a realization dawned on them, and they were struck by a fresh wave of alarm.
These evil ghosts hungered for their flesh; they wouldn’t simply abandon their meal without cause.
If they had fled, it meant they had encountered something far more terrifying than themselves.
Something even more horrific...
From a short distance away, a mysterious yet overwhelming presence approached, carrying an eerie, heavy pressure...
“Is it coming?!”
Their limbs turned to ice, and the hearts they had just managed to calm were instantly gripped by terror again. In a state of shock, they whipped their heads around, only to see a child smiling and waving at them.
“Master Gu, Supervisor Fan, I’ve found you.”
Master Gu and Supervisor Fan stood there, completely dumbfounded. They remained stunned for a long time before finally managing to react. “...Young Master Mo?”
“Yes,” Mo Hua replied with a nod.
“Why... why do you look like this?” Supervisor Fan asked, his voice stuttering slightly.
Mo Hua let out a soft sigh. “It’s a long story...”
Every person he ran into asked the same thing, and he was growing weary of giving explanations.
Besides, the actual truth couldn't be revealed.
He certainly couldn't explain that because he cultivated the “Heaven Yan Jue,” his Divine Thought had undergone a mutation, resulting in him never growing up...
Master Gu and Supervisor Fan were tactful enough not to press the matter further.
“Young Master Mo, do you happen to know where we are...?” Master Gu inquired.
He was still struggling to make sense of their current predicament.
Mo Hua gave a brief explanation. “We are in the Dreamland—more specifically, a nightmare. A powerful, dormant evil entity resides within Solitary Mountain City; it has awakened and pulled us all into this nightmare realm.”
Master Gu nodded, though he looked as if he only half-understood the situation.
“Then, what is our next move?”
“We need to locate Elder Xun first,” Mo Hua stated.
“Understood.” Master Gu and Supervisor Fan both nodded in agreement.
They found themselves naturally falling into step behind Mo Hua.
In the outside world, Mo Hua was strong, but it wasn't immediately obvious from his appearance.
Yet within this dream, even though Mo Hua appeared smaller, his entire being radiated a magnificent and formidable aura that compelled Master Gu and Supervisor Fan to follow him willingly.
With Mo Hua leading the way, the trio ventured deeper into the Divine Temple.
He could sense a faint disturbance elsewhere in the temple. After walking for a short while, they indeed discovered Elder Xun Ziyou nearby.
Elder Xun Ziyou’s circumstances were dire.
He was locked in combat with a massive, twisted fierce ghost—a hideous creature wreathed in thick resentment.
A fierce ghost of such caliber was not something an ordinary Nascent Soul or Golden Core cultivator could easily handle.
As a Sword Dao Elder from the Taixu Gate, Elder Xun was highly skilled in Sword Intent. Even though he hadn't mastered the orthodox Taixu Mind Transforming Sword True Jue, he could still hold his own against this Third Grade fierce ghost by relying on the pure Taixu Sword Intent of his lineage.
Nevertheless, he was clearly struggling, and the tide of battle was turning against him.
The Third Grade fierce ghost was becoming increasingly violent and arrogant.
Elder Xun Ziyou gritted his teeth, desperate to hold his ground, but it was obvious he was reaching his limit.
It was at this critical juncture that Mo Hua and the others arrived.
Elder Xun Ziyou noticed them immediately. His heart sank, and he shouted out in a panic:
“Don’t come any closer! Run!”
He was terrified that if he fell to the fierce ghost, Mo Hua and the others would be slaughtered as well.
In this moment, his only thought was to desperately restrain the ghost to give the others a chance to flee.
But before Mo Hua or the others could even respond to the warning, the fierce ghost suddenly began to tremble. It dropped to the ground, tucked its tail between its legs, and fled into the distance as if its life depended on it.
Elder Xun Ziyou stood there dazed, unable to comprehend what had just transpired.
He had told Mo Hua and the others to run.
But why did the fierce ghost... run away? It was as if it had seen a literal “ghost”...
Mo Hua approached him and asked, “Elder Xun, are you injured?”
After the grueling battle, Elder Xun Ziyou finally let out a long, slow breath. “I’m alright.”
Regardless of the reason, the enemy had fled, and that was what mattered.
He had already begun to suspect that he was trapped in a nightmare; since it was a dream, strange occurrences were to be expected.
Fortunately, the danger had passed.
This had been a Third Grade Golden Core level fierce ghost; if it hadn't retreated, their survival would have been entirely uncertain.
Elder Xun Ziyou then turned his gaze toward Mo Hua, examining him from head to toe. Finding the boy's appearance both novel and strangely adorable, he couldn't help but ask:
“Why have you shrunk so much?”
Mo Hua sighed, answering with a helpless expression, “That is simply how I appear in this dream.”
“But why would a dream affect you like this?” Elder Xun Ziyou asked, sounding puzzled.
Mo Hua was about to invent an excuse, but he quickly remembered that Elder Xun was no ordinary person; he was an elder of the Taixu Gate and an old acquaintance. If the news that his Divine Thought refused to grow reached the Taixu Gate, he would be completely humiliated.
“It is a form of mindset cultivation,” Mo Hua said with a solemn face.
“Mindset cultivation?” Elder Xun Ziyou repeated, frowning.
Mo Hua nodded seriously. “A Cultivator should never lose their childlike simplicity. That is why my Divine Thought has taken this form.”
“A Cultivator should never lose... their childlike simplicity...”
As Elder Xun Ziyou whispered the words, his eyes widened. He suddenly recalled the ancient teachings of the Taixu Gate ancestors, and a surge of emotion washed over him.
He gave Mo Hua a deep, meaningful look and nodded slowly.
Mo Hua found the Elder's reaction a bit strange, but he didn't have time to dwell on it.
They were currently inside a Divine Temple controlled by an evil embryo; it was no place to linger.
“Since we are in a dream, how do we wake up?” Fan Jin asked.
