Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 1980 - 956: Coffin Sealed by Ten Thousand Corpses (Part 3)

Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
Mo Hua watches as Mr. Hui utilizes complex Maoshan rituals to dissolve a massive copper coffin, acting as a key to unlock a pitch-black pit leading deeper into the tomb. Once the gate to the underworld is open, Mr. Hui attempts a daring escape using a substitute puppet and earth-遁 techniques, even trying to abduct Mo Hua in the process. His plan is thwarted by Young Master Xuan’s intervention and the overwhelming power of the elder in black robes. Caught by a blood spear and a monstrous cultivator, a wounded Mr. Hui is left pleading for his life as the path to the depths of the tomb lies exposed.

The elder in black robes pulled back his hand, issuing a cold warning: "This is the final time."

"Understood..." Mr. Hui replied, his voice shaking with fear.

The black-robed elder shifted his gaze, and only then did the Bear Demon Cultivator cease his actions.

Cold sweat drenched Mr. Hui like a sudden downpour.

"Move out," commanded the black-robed elder.

Nursing his injured arm, Mr. Hui could only submit to his grim fate, walking toward the abyss of the tomb pit that had been sealed by the vibrant yellow copper coffin.

Upon reaching the edge of the pit, Mr. Hui's footsteps faltered once more.

"Great fortune is found only within great peril," the black-robed elder remarked with a cryptic tone. "Those were your own words."

With a heavy sigh, Mr. Hui clenched his teeth and leaped into the dark opening.

One by one, the others followed his lead.

When the moment came for Shen Qingsheng to descend, he suddenly began to shriek like a madman, "I won't go down! It's too terrifying inside, you're sending me to my death..."

His protests fell on deaf ears.

The massive Bear Pi silenced Shen Qingsheng with a swift chop to the neck, knocking him unconscious before tossing his limp body into the hole.

Mo Hua was next. In truth, Mo Hua was eager to enter, but he feared that showing too much enthusiasm would be suspicious. To avoid appearing "unsociable" compared to the terrified Mr. Hui and Shen Qingsheng, he put on a mask of distress and stammered:

"I... I don't want to go down there..."

The black-robed elder merely gave Mo Hua a deceptively warm look.

Resigned, Mo Hua sighed, squeezed his eyes shut, and plummeted into the abyss of the tomb pit.

The Bear Demon Cultivator and Young Master Xuan followed shortly after.

At last, only the black-robed elder and the Demon Sect leader remained at the surface.

The elder's clouded eyes turned toward the silent Demon Sect leader, his voice carrying the weight of ancient decay:

"Third Prince, the very survival of our Great Wilderness tribe rests upon this moment..."

A flicker of emotion crossed the Demon Sect leader's regal gaze before he stepped firmly into the pitch-black void of the pit.

... Meanwhile, within the stone corridors.

The members of the Shen family, accompanied by Xun Ziyou, Fan Jin, and Master Gu, advanced cautiously.

Xun Ziyou gripped a jade lock tightly in his palm.

Corpse monsters lunged from the shadows occasionally, and the earth trembled beneath them as powerful waves of Spiritual Power and Evil Power clashed in the air.

On the surface of the jade lock, the light representing Mo Hua’s life force flickered between a sickly white and a deep red.

Though it did not signal his death, the instability left Xun Ziyou feeling deeply unsettled and filled with dread.

As they ventured deeper, Xun Ziyou scanned the architecture of the tunnel. Sensing something amiss, he turned to Shen Shouxing. "Elder Shen, is this truly the ancestral tomb of the Shen family?"

"In a manner of speaking," Shen Shouxing answered.

"Then who is interred here?" Xun Ziyou pressed.

"No one is buried here," Shen Shouxing stated flatly.

"No one?" Xun Ziyou’s brow furrowed. "Why construct a tomb of this magnitude if it contains no dead?"

"The Shen family is vast, with many branches. This was built as a prepared reserve," Shen Shouxing replied with an indifferent glance at Xun Ziyou. "Does the Shen family require permission from the Taixu Gate to build a tomb?"

Xun Ziyou offered no retort, but his eyes narrowed. "If no one is buried here..."

With a flick of his fingers, he released a sharp strand of sword light that obliterated a lunging corpse demon. He continued, "Then where did these corpse monsters originate?"

A muscle in Shen Shouxing’s eyelid twitched as he replied coldly, "Vile beings from the underground have simply occupied this space."

Xun Ziyou let out a quiet sneer.

Silence fell over the group as they pressed forward, navigating through various junctions until they reached the path on the far right that led toward the heart of the underground palace.

Mo Hua and his captors had left a clear trail behind them.

By following these signs, it wasn't long before Xun Ziyou reached the deepest section of the palace, standing before the massive, bright yellow copper coffin.

The scene surrounding the coffin was one of absolute carnage.

The floor was scarred with craters, and the surrounding stone was reduced to rubble.

The remains of corpse demons were scattered everywhere, their mangled flesh filling the air with a nauseating stench of blood.

One look was enough for anyone to realize the sheer brutality of the combat that had occurred here.

It appeared as though several late-stage Golden Core cultivators had exerted their maximum strength to fight off a massive tide of corpses.

Furthermore, the lingering traces of malevolent Blood Qi suggested that these Golden Core experts were formidable demon cultivators...

Xun Ziyou’s heart raced with alarm. He looked down at the jade lock again, finding the situation hard to believe.

So many high-level demon cultivators.

Such a violent and bloody struggle.

The destruction was so vast that even a late Golden Core Sword Cultivation Elder like himself felt a sense of unease...

How could young Mo Hua, caught in the middle of such chaos, possibly survive?

Xun Ziyou’s frown deepened; the more he analyzed the situation, the more impossible it seemed.

He turned his head to look at Shen Shouxing, saying in a low voice, "Elder Shen, this is certainly... more than just 'vile beings' from underground..."

By now, it was obvious to everyone present.

There was a massive secret hidden within the Shen family tomb.

And those who had broken in were far from ordinary thieves.

Shen Shouxing’s expression was grim as he stared at the piles of defeated corpse monsters, the ruined copper coffin, and the gaping maw of the tomb pit.

A wave of icy terror washed over him.

Xun Ziyou followed his gaze into the dark hole in the floor, thinking aloud:

"This group slaughtered a corpse monster, shattered a seal, melted the copper coffin, and then... descended into this pit?"

Which meant Mo Hua had been taken down there as well.

There was no doubt about it.

Xun Ziyou knew that wherever such a dangerous and chaotic event was unfolding, Mo Hua was surely in the thick of it.

His anxiety continued to mount.

Meanwhile, Shen Shouxing was gripped by his own dark thoughts:

"I haven't seen Qing’er’s body along the path, nor any signs that his protective talisman was destroyed. This means Qing’er was also dragged into this..."

Shen Shouxing’s face was a mask of terrifying solemnity.

"Elder Shen," Xun Ziyou asked, "what exactly is this tomb pit?"
