Immortality Through Array Formations Chapter 1976 - 955: Dragon Diagram (Part 2)
Previously on Immortality Through Array Formations...
The struggle against the flesh corpse statue persists, though it is clearly nearing its conclusion.
Possessing a lethality that is truly bone-chilling, a Demon Sect leader at the late Golden Core Realm stands firm, his power amplified by the Four Symbols Green Dragon Evil Formation.
The sinister aura animating the flesh corpse statue found itself suppressed by the fragment of white bone that the black-robed elder had called forth.
That single thread of white energy acted as a tether, binding the creature's heart tightly.
“Could that piece of white bone be... a dragon bone?” Mo Hua wondered.
“Can a dragon bone actually subdue the evil aura of Taoist Demons?” Mo Hua’s interest was piqued; he had never encountered such lore before.
Indeed, under the dragon bone's influence, the "evil aura" clinging to the flesh corpse statue began to fade away.
Stripped of the power of laws granted by that evil aura, the once-formidable statue was reduced to nothing more than a massive "walking corpse," no longer a match for the group.
Following dozens of additional exchanges, a massive collision resounded as the Demon Sect leader struck the statue's head, sending a black-red dragon shadow screaming through its skull.
With a violent shudder, the flesh of the corpse statue disintegrated and collapsed into a heap.
Deprived of their physical vessel, the lingering gloom and deathly aura slowly evaporated into nothingness.
The colossal flesh corpse statue was finally destroyed.
Once the physical anchor was gone and the nourishment of gloom ceased, the wisp of "evil aura" trapped by the dragon bone also flickered out.
“We actually won...” Mr. Hui muttered, find it hard to believe. He turned his gaze toward the Demon Sect leader, who stood with an air of arrogance while draped in the Evil Dragon, his eyes filled with profound dread and caution.
In that moment, his decision was made. Cupping his hands toward the black-robed elder and the others, he spoke:
“Fellow Daoists, now that this horror has been dealt with, my task is finished. If you will permit me... I shall take my leave now.”
“Wait a moment,” the black-robed elder interrupted.
Mr. Hui froze in his tracks.
The black-robed elder continued, “The statue is dead, and the bronze coffin sits right before us. Does Mr. Hui not desire a portion of the spoils?”
Forcing a thin smile, Mr. Hui replied, “I contributed very little to the slaying of that monster; I wouldn't dream of claiming a reward I haven't earned.”
The black-robed elder shook his head. “We had a prior arrangement. Now that the goal is achieved, how could I possibly break my promise?”
Internally, Mr. Hui was trembling with anxiety.
He realized too late that he had walked straight into a tiger's den.
This band of black-robed figures were true Demon Cultivators of terrifying strength, capable of even manifesting an Evil Dragon.
Anything involving a dragon was bound to be extraordinary.
Mr. Hui wanted no further part in these dangerous affairs.
If he could just depart now with his storage pouch full of loot and the young "genius Formation Master" he intended to kidnap and exploit, he would consider it a massive success.
However, it was obvious the black-robed elder had no intention of letting him walk away.
This group had just decimated a flesh corpse statue with their brutal Cultivation techniques; killing him would be child's play.
Seeing no alternative, Mr. Hui braced himself and said, “Since you insist... I shall humbly obey your command.”
The black-robed elder then gestured for Mo Hua to approach from a distance.
Though startled, Mo Hua hurried over to them.
The black-robed elder spoke, “Little friend, you shall also have the chance to select an item from the coffin shortly.”
“Truly?” Mo Hua asked, acting surprised.
“Of course,” the elder nodded. “You put in your own effort during this tomb-robbing expedition, so it is only right that you receive a share of the treasure.”
“My thanks, Elder.” Mo Hua appeared deeply moved on the surface, but his mind was clouded with suspicion.
Why would this old man offer me anything?
What is he really planning?
Naturally, Mo Hua was also curious about what riches might be hidden within such a massive, bright-yellow bronze coffin.
The group then worked together to clear the bright-yellow bronze coffin, incinerating the zombie flesh before beginning their search of the interior.
However, once the debris was cleared and the rotting remains were burned away, they found the bottom of the massive coffin was completely bare.
There was no occupant, and no funerary objects to be found.
Even the "Evil Embryo" Mo Hua had been searching for was nowhere to be seen.
It appeared as though this entire bronze coffin existed solely to inter those dead bodies.
Mr. Hui’s expression shifted as if he had realized something unpleasant.
The black-robed elder and his companions remained deathly silent.
The black-robed Young Master contemplated for a moment with a frown, then looked at the elder, his voice turning cold. “Second Elder, this is not the outcome you promised.”
“Young Master Xuan, please, calm yourself.”
The black-robed elder’s voice sounded raspy, yet his own face betrayed a sense of bewilderment.
It was clear that they had failed to find their target.
The current turn of events had caught them entirely off guard.
Mo Hua kept his gaze lowered, masking his thoughts as his mind worked rapidly.
He began to piece the puzzle together.
Of the four black-robed individuals, the one marked with Dragon Patterns was the Demon Sect leader.
The man built like a Bear Pi was "Elder Xiong" of the Demon Sect.
He was the survivor who had slipped through the net when the Taoist Court and Taixu Gate had previously cornered the Sect.
Furthermore, based on what Elder Xun Ziyou had said, this "Elder Xiong" was one of the three Golden Core monster cultivator elders from the Valley of Ten Thousand Demons on Demon Hunting Mountain.
Mo Hua had infiltrated that valley while the three elders were away, so he had never met them face-to-face.
Elder Xun Ziyou had mentioned that one of those monster elders died on Refining Demon Mountain under mysterious circumstances.
That one had been found with massive claw wounds on its chest as if it had been gutted; its storage pouch was missing, and the skin bearing its Monster Patterns had been flayed, leaving its identity a mystery.
Another was the Snake Demon Elder, who had been killed by Elder Xun Ziyou during the siege of Yanluo Mountain.
The final survivor was the Bear Pi man standing right here.
He was the sole Golden Core Demon Cultivator remaining from the Valley of Ten Thousand Demons.
As for the one addressed as "Second Elder"...
Mo Hua concluded he must be the second-highest authority within the Demon Sect, surpassed only by the Sect leader himself.
