I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors? Chapter 616: Cao Youqian — Your Flesh Must Be Very Delicious, Right?
Previously on I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors?...
On Sword Peak, Xiao Chen observed the young folks beneath him as they slipped into cultivation mode, nodding with approval. His divine sense primarily locked onto the handful of youngsters up front, curious about the time they'd need to completely take in the knowledge he'd shared.
An hour later, Er Gouzi became the initial one to awaken, his eyes locking straight onto Xiao Chen's. He quickly rose to his feet and declared, “Er Gouzi pays respects to Sword God.”
“You lack a name?” Xiao Chen inquired on reflex after catching that moniker.
Er Gouzi rubbed his head in embarrassment. “I don’t have a name. The High Priest mentioned giving me one earlier, but I've been hanging around Sword Peak lately and still haven’t gotten it.”
Upon hearing that, Xiao Chen promptly responded, “With no name to your credit, I’ll grant you one now. In the Famous Sword Holy Land, ‘Sword’ serves as the family name, and since you were quickest to grasp the foundational teachings I passed on, you’ll be called Jian Yi.”
“Jian Yi.”
Er Gouzi whispered the name under his breath, then leaped high and yelled, “I’ve got a name, I’ve got a name!”
Xiao Chen gestured toward him, wrapping his form in a glowing shield. Calmly, he stated, “Getting a name is certainly worth celebrating, yet you shouldn’t disturb the cultivation of others.”
“Yes.”
Jian Yi rubbed his head sheepishly once more, his expression revealing tension and discomfort.
Xiao Chen took in the whole scene with a grin and remarked, “Fine, no need to stay so on edge. Now that you’ve absorbed my transmission, is there something unclear to you?”
Jian Yi answered in a quiet voice, “To Sword God, I only grasp these basics superficially. Nothing deeper makes sense to me.”
Xiao Chen stayed composed instead of flaring up and gently probed, “So, that suggests you’ve never tried cultivating until now?”
“Mmm.”
Jian Yi bobbed his head eagerly, eyeing Xiao Chen full of hope.
“No issue there. Before the rest stir from their trance, I’ll start showing you the ropes of cultivation.”
Xiao Chen hadn’t anticipated this lad standing before him to be such a raw talent waiting to shine. He resolved to cultivate him with extra care, eager to witness the heights this fellow might reach down the line.

Far off by thousands of miles, Cao Youqian sensed a surge in his power after absorbing the Light of Fortune. He gradually lifted his eyelids and scanned the area, discovering a pack of demonic beasts encircling him, their stares brimming with avarice directed his way.
Before he could react, the Thunder Qilin at his side bellowed, “You Demon Dragon punk, I was planning to hunt you down, but here you come right to me.”
With those words out, every demonic beast there shifted their attention to a dark, one-horned Demon Dragon.
A wicked grin spread across the Demon Dragon’s face at the sight of the Thunder Qilin. “Oh, it’s you, Thunder Qilin. What, the thrashing from before wasn’t sufficient, so you’re back for more? And you’ve even delivered this tasty human as an offering—guess I’ll give you a few extra whacks.”
As the two divine beasts bantered, Cao Youqian smirked faintly while touching the qilin horn and questioned, “This dark eel is the one who roughed you up?”
“Exactly. Brother Qian, it’s this Demon Dragon rascal. You’ve got to help me give it a real schooling.”
The Thunder Qilin had felt cautious about the Demon Dragon initially, but recalling the might of his companion, boldness flooded back in.
“Hahahaha…”
The Demon Dragon roared with amusement after overhearing the pair’s talk.
Its cackle held a piercing, fiendish edge, and soon the nearby demonic beasts joined in the mockery. Suddenly, across a hundred-mile stretch, nothing but that grating, devilish laughter echoed, grating on the nerves terribly.
Still chuckling derisively, the Demon Dragon taunted, “Thunder Qilin, you’re a total embarrassment to the qilin lineage. While other qilins summon their elders against our dragon kind, you’re begging a pathetic human for aid. Is that because you figure you’re not pathetic enough yet?”
The Thunder Qilin stayed silent, simply turning its eyes to Cao Youqian. Cao Youqian picked at his ear and grumbled, “It’s been ages since I savored dragon meat. From your appearance, you must be a pureborn dragon, not some upgraded flood dragon, correct?”
“Hmph.”
The Demon Dragon huffed in disdain. “Arrogant mortal. I am the Dragon Ancestor’s own grandson. How dare you lump me with those flood dragons that barely ascended to dragon status?”
“Then your meat has to taste exquisite, doesn’t it?”
While saying this, Cao Youqian gulped down some spit, his look at the Demon Dragon turning intensely eager.
Scorn, pure and blatant scorn.
The Demon Dragon’s ebony visage appeared to redden under the darkness, twisting into something hideous. As the Dragon Ancestor’s direct kin, enduring a lowly human eyeing it as prey was unbearable. If it didn’t consume this fool today, wouldn’t it turn into the Dragon Ancestor’s jest?
“Grab this insignificant human for me. The first to snag him gets one of my legs as prize.”
“Yes!”
The horde of Demon Kings surged at Cao Youqian like blood-frenzied sharks.
A slight curl of contempt played on Cao Youqian’s lips. With one swipe, he shattered a tiger demon’s skull, then pulverized a lion demon’s frame with a single blow.
This abrupt shift left the surviving Demon Kings dazed, yet Cao Youqian offered no quarter. He dispatched the others as if slicing through produce, finishing them off in mere blinks, quicker than brewing a cup of tea.
Quiet descended, turning the once-raucous woods into a hush where even a bird’s cry was absent.
The Demon Dragon stood dumbfounded by the spectacle, speechless. Though a fresh Demon Emperor, it couldn’t have quelled so many Demon Kings with such ease.
Naturally, the Thunder Qilin felt the deepest shock. It had seen Brother Qian’s skills prior, but never dreamed he’d prove this horrifying. Now it understood that previously, he’d held back entirely, or it wouldn’t have lasted till now.
This realization cemented its choice to stick with Brother Qian henceforth. With him nearby, no threats loomed.
Cao Youqian dusted his palms, shaking off imaginary grime, and locked eyes on the ebony dragon while sneering, “You’re next, dark eel.”
Flee.
The Demon Dragon’s immediate impulse upon snapping to was escape. Having risen to Demon Emperor under a century ago, it refused to perish here.
Though this human outmatched it in power, speed-wise, no human Great Shaman could rival a Demon Emperor.
Its body blurred, vanishing as a streak of shadow in a flash.
Noticing, the Thunder Qilin yelled urgently, “Brother Qian, that punk’s getting away!”
Cao Youqian chuckled, “Relax. He won’t slip from my grasp.”
As he finished speaking, he leisurely stretched out a hand, reaching for the distant sky where the Demon Dragon bolted. From this simple act, a colossal hand projection materialized overhead.
This projection exuded overwhelming authority, and beneath the dread force, the Demon Dragon found its demonic energy locked tight. It looked up on instinct.
What met its view was a massive palm evoking utter hopelessness, lowering gradually from above.
“No—”
In a frenzied wail, the enormous palm crushed down on the Demon Dragon…
