I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors? Chapter 605: A Phenomenon Descends from Heaven, All Living Beings Come to Pay Homage

Previously on I was just making up techniques… how did all of you become Emperors?...
Chu Feng has established the Wendao Sect on Slated Moon Mountain, protected by a grand formation designed to draw in individuals of great fortune. While discussing the requirements for reaching Sainthood with his disciples, a young body cultivator named Ji Jiuwu wanders into the mountain's territory while fleeing a predatory demon. After the sect's formation neutralizes the threat, Cao Youqian discovers the exhausted youth and offers him a drink from a Saint-grade spiritual spring. Recognizing the boy's potential despite their differing cultivation terminologies, Cao Youqian invites Ji Jiuwu up the mountain to meet the Master.

On Slanted Moon Mountain, a vast expanse of purple qi surged in from the east, extending across nine thousand miles. It gathered high above the Wendao Sect, transforming into a radiant fortune light that bathed the whole sect in its glow.

The fortune light caught the attention of Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian, who promptly dropped into cross-legged positions right there to start their cultivation session.

Jiuwu, on the other hand, stood frozen in awe at the spectacle unfolding before him, letting the fortune light wash over his form without reaction.

In Chu Feng's mind, the system's voice chimed: "Host has taken the Chosen One as a disciple, earning the approval of the Heavenly Dao. Reward: Dao Rhyme +10."

The Chosen One—clearly, this new disciple of mine is destined to rise as an Emperor down the line. What's more, he'll stand as the ultimate ruler of the human race across this entire world.

Glancing at Jiuwu, who remained rooted in place like a fool, Chu Feng quickly instructed: "Jiuwu, steady your breathing and focus your mind, then sit cross-legged. Your Master will impart a Dao Sutra to you right now."

"Thank you, Master."

With those words, Jiuwu gradually lowered himself into a cross-legged stance on the ground. Over his time in the mountains these past days, he had picked up the basics of cross-legged sitting, breath control, and qi circulation.

Observing this, Chu Feng extended a finger toward Jiuwu's forehead, sending a beam of golden light straight into the young man's consciousness.

"Heaven and earth align with their virtue, sun and moon with their brilliance, yin and yang with their Dao, the four seasons with their rhythm, and all creatures with their essence. When the technique manifests, the cosmos parts; when merit accumulates, achievement blooms effortlessly."

That passage from the Dao Sutra echoed through Jiuwu's thoughts, and before long, he found himself fully absorbed in its profound teachings.

Chu Feng left his three disciples undisturbed in their cultivation. With a simple pivot, he vanished from the location.

Meanwhile, every creature within a ten-thousand-mile radius of Slanted Moon Mountain felt drawn to the extraordinary event manifesting overhead.

After three days had passed, Xiao Chen, Cao Youqian, and Jiuwu successively opened their eyes.

"Jiuwu greets my two senior brothers."

Jiuwu took the initiative, offering a respectful bow to the pair.

Xiao Chen responded first: "Junior brother, no need for such formalities. The Wendao Sect isn't burdened with all those rigid customs."

Cao Youqian slung an arm around his shoulder with brotherly warmth: "Eldest senior brother has it right. Junior brother, whenever trouble comes your way in the future, just reach out to us."

"Yes."

Jiuwu struggled to accept that all this was truly happening. Not only had he become the apprentice of a mighty supreme Great Witch, but he also gained two powerful Great Witch senior brothers. After completing my training and heading back, I'll guide my tribe to greater strength!

Xiao Chen suggested: "Let's head out—we should pay a visit to Master."

"Okay."

Jiuwu agreed and trailed after Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian as they made their way to the main hall.

Right then in the main hall, another system notification rang in Chu Feng's mind: "Host's disciples Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian have each grasped 1 True Meaning of the Great Dao. Host's True Meaning of the Great Dao +20. Host's disciple Jiuwu has stepped into the gateway of the Natural Scripture. Reward: Host's True Meaning of the Great Dao +1."

This Natural Scripture had developed from the Dao De Jing. Chu Feng had already mastered the Dao De Jing deeply within himself long ago and saw no reason to practice it anew.

Shortly afterward, Chu Feng picked up on approaching footsteps from beyond the hall. Moments later, Xiao Chen and the other two stepped inside.

"We pay respects to Master."

All three offered their bows to Chu Feng in unison.

"Rise, no need for such gestures."

As Chu Feng replied, he let his eyes scan across the group: "It looks like this heavenly phenomenon brought you all substantial benefits. Any questions lingering about your cultivation paths?"

Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian stayed silent, their gazes turning together toward their junior brother Jiuwu. For them at this stage, cultivation revolved around grasping the True Meaning of the Great Dao. Practicing here accelerated their progress several times over what they'd achieved in the Xuantian Continent. In under a decade, they'd reach the rank of Great Sages.

Jiuwu replied: "To answer Master, since grasping the Natural Scripture, whenever I inhale and practice, a soothing stream of air flows into me and pools in my lower abdomen. Could this harm my cultivation in any way?"

Chu Feng smiled at these words and responded: "If that's what's happening, then you've already embarked on the immortal cultivation path."

"What does cultivating immortality mean?"

The term struck Jiuwu as utterly novel, prompting an instinctive question.

With a gentle smile, Chu Feng clarified: "Cultivating immortality means pursuing the way to become an immortal and rise to the Heavenly Realm."

"The Heavenly Realm?"

Shock filled Jiuwu's face as he stared at Chu Feng and inquired: "Master, does a whole other realm exist above the skies?"

"Exactly right."

Chu Feng continued steadily: "From my perspective, the path you're on counts as a form of body cultivation. It can indeed lead to the Immortal World, but the journey drags on far too long. Combining law and body cultivation would make your ascent far easier.

For now, though, ascension lies distant for you. Focus on steady practice first."

"Yes."

Jiuwu's spirit trembled with the revelation. The idea of cultivating immortality was entirely new to him, broadening his horizons yet again.

Shifting his attention to the other two disciples, Chu Feng asked: "And what of you two?"

Xiao Chen began: "Master, this disciple wishes to venture out for some real-world tempering."

Cao Youqian added: "Count me in as well."

"You two are eager to set off already?"

After a brief pause, Chu Feng agreed: "Very well, then descend the mountain, both of you."

"Thank you, Master."

Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian voiced their gratitude together.

On the following day, Xiao Chen and Cao Youqian departed from the Wendao Sect atop Slanted Moon Mountain side by side.

No sooner had they started down than they spotted innumerable beings streaming toward Slanted Moon Mountain. Humans mingled with demon races and even ghostly figures among the crowd.

These representatives from a hundred races, once bitter foes, now moved in apparent harmony. Devotion shone in their expressions, their eyes gleaming with zealous faith.

As Cao Youqian observed the demon races approaching their Wendao Sect, an urge to act surged within him. Xiao Chen halted him with an upheld hand.

"Senior brother, why hold me back?"

Confusion marked Cao Youqian's face as he questioned.

Xiao Chen reminded him: "Have you overlooked the four words Master inscribed at the mountain gate?"

Cao Youqian: "You mean 'Teaching Without Discrimination'?"

"That's it."

Xiao Chen elaborated: "This gathering of beings must stem from the heaven-and-earth phenomenon a few days back. Notice how they harbor no malice or urge to clash with others right now. Better to observe for the moment."

Cao Youqian nodded, admitting: "Senior brother makes sense; I acted too hastily."

Rather than pressing on, the pair lingered at a distance, eyeing the procession toward Slanted Moon Mountain.

Once most of the beings crossed into Slanted Moon Mountain's formation, they veered aside as though the towering peak simply didn't exist before them.

A mere few managed to enter Slanted Moon Mountain proper, yet even they failed to locate the stone steps to the sect at once. Instead, thick fog ensnared them.

Noting this, Cao Youqian proposed: "Senior brother, shall we select a disciple from among them here?"

Xiao Chen grinned and replied: "No necessity for that. From a quick look, none of those individuals possess the talent for sword cultivation. Junior brother, I'll head out first."

With that, he spun around and departed, fading into the distant skyline. Cao Youqian didn't stray too far; he hoped to spot a fitting disciple. If none appeared, claiming a mount would serve just as well.

Days flowed by steadily. Seven days on, at last, a pair of beings pierced the fog and climbed the stone steps toward the Wendao Sect. Simultaneously, a few more figures broke free from the mist and advanced in the direction of Cao Youqian...
