I Can See Through All Things' Information Chapter 4 Fishing Spots

Previously on I Can See Through All Things' Information...
Lu Qing, having recovered from his illness, crafted a fishing rod to catch food for himself and his sister, Little Yan. As they left their home, they encountered Aunt Wang and other villagers, who were surprised by Lu Qing's recovery and expressed concern about him going fishing while still frail. Despite their warnings, Lu Qing and Little Yan continued towards the riverside, drawing the interest of some village children.

Accompanied by a trail of young followers, Lu Qing made his way to the riverbank located just outside the village.

The waterway was modest in size, spanning only about ten meters at its widest point.

Despite its lack of width, the river possessed significant depth—enough to completely submerge a grown man in certain areas—which was why the village elders strictly forbade the children from playing near the water.

Lu Qing was not one to ignore such warnings.

Consequently, as soon as they reached the edge, he turned to the group of children with a stern expression: "Listen up, do not wander near the bank and stay out of the water, do you understand?"

Even though he possessed a lean frame, Lu Qing was already in his mid-teens, making him a figure of authority who seemed almost like an adult to the younger boys.

Dreading his disapproval, the children replied with obedient nods: "We understand, Brother Lu Qing."

Once he was satisfied with their response, Lu Qing turned his attention to Little Yan: "And you, Little Yan, you must be good as well. Stay away from the edge. Just keep an eye on the bucket and make sure no fish escape, alright?"

"Okay~" Little Yan chirped in agreement before asking curiously, "Brother, when are you going to start?"

"Don't be impatient. I need to observe for a while. Fishing isn't just about dropping a line anywhere."

This was a piece of wisdom Lu Qing had earned through years of practice.

In the art of angling, several vital steps were required if one hoped to land a quality catch.

Factors such as selecting the right location, chumming the water, adjusting the float, and prepping the bait could each determine whether an angler went home empty-handed or successful.

Among these variables, none was more critical than the choice of the fishing spot itself.

A prime location could exponentially increase the odds of a bite.

After all, one cannot cook a meal without rice; if the chosen spot is devoid of fish,

even a master with peerless technique would find their efforts wasted and their hook ignored.

In his previous life, Lu Qing had been a devoted fisherman, gaining deep insights into the craft.

Because of this, he possessed a keen eye for identifying where fish might gather.

Though he now resided in a different world,

many fundamental laws of nature remain the same across all realms.

He reasoned that the fish of this Otherworld likely shared similar habits with those he knew before.

He hoped to utilize his past expertise to find a lucrative spot, ensuring this trip was both efficient and fruitful.

He didn't even consider baiting the water with food; his household was currently struggling to feed themselves, let alone having spare grain to toss into the river.

After ordering the children to stay put under the shade of a large tree, Lu Qing began pacing the riverbank, his eyes scanning the water's surface intently.

It wasn't long before he identified a promising area.

Using a sturdy branch to flatten the thick weeds at the water's edge, he moved closer to inspect the site.

The spot was located at a bend in the river where the current slowed and aquatic plants grew in abundance—a classic habitat for fish.

Lu Qing felt pleased with his choice and was turning back to grab his gear when a sudden flicker of grey light caught his eye.

This grey radiance was a phenomenon Lu Qing had become intimately familiar with throughout the day.

He stood perfectly still, focusing his gaze on the surface of the river.

He watched as the grey glow rose to the surface, forming a swirling watery pattern about a meter wide.

Immediately after, a line of text materialized before him:

"Ordinary Fishing Spot: A gathering place for small fish. It appears to be a solid choice for angling."

The text hovered exactly over the location Lu Qing had just picked out for himself.

Lu Qing blinked in disbelief, followed quickly by a surge of excitement.

His unique ability actually possessed such a function? It could even identify fishing spots?

Simultaneously, he felt a wave of self-satisfaction.

It seemed his instincts were indeed sharp, as his superpower had just validated his professional judgment.

With this new discovery, Lu Qing lost his sense of urgency.

He continued his walk along the bank, but this time he was intentionally using his power to scan the river for more indicators.

Before long, he stumbled upon two additional spots along this particular stretch of water.

To his delight, one of these spots didn't emit a dull grey light, but rather a soft white glow.

Ordinary Fishing Spot: A common path used by schools of fish searching for food. Angling here may provide a decent harvest.

Primary Fishing Point: A place where wild fruits frequently drop into the water, serving as a favorite snack for larger fish.

Fishing here could result in a rare and unexpected prize.

Three descriptions appeared; the first belonged to the grey light, while the latter two detailed the white light location.

"So, the grey and white lights represent different tiers of the same resource," Lu Qing whispered to himself. "Grey denotes an Ordinary Fishing Spot, while white marks a Primary Fishing Point."

Judging by the descriptions, he inferred that even higher-grade spots must exist.

He wondered if such legendary locations could be found further down the river, away from the village.

Having found these three locations, Lu Qing decided to stop his search.

These spots covered the most accessible part of the riverbank near the village.

Going any further would mean navigating through much denser foliage and treacherous terrain.

Without proper tools to clear a path, it would be difficult to even reach the water, let alone fish comfortably.

He lacked the stamina for such an undertaking at the moment.

Besides, these three spots were more than enough for his current needs.

The question now was which one to try first.

After a moment of thought, Lu Qing chose the very first grey-lit spot he had found.

His reasoning was practical.

According to his ability, that spot was filled with smaller fish.

The rod he had built was a rudimentary tool at best.

He wasn't sure how much tension the hemp line could take before snapping.

If he aimed for the big fish immediately and his line broke, he would be devastated.

There was very little hemp left at home to make replacements.

Even more importantly, he only had one set of hooks. Losing them would mean the end of his fishing career before it even started.

Starting with smaller prey was the safest strategy.

With his plan set, Lu Qing walked back to the large tree. Finding the children waiting exactly where he left them, he gave a satisfied nod.

In truth, Lu Qing hadn't wandered far. He had kept the children in his line of sight, knowing they might get into trouble if left unsupervised for too long.

"Big brother, you're back!"

Little Yan was the first to notice him, her face lighting up with a smile.

"Yes, I'm back."

"So, have you picked a place yet?"

"I have. Let's head over there now."

At his words, the children grew excited.

The most energetic among them rushed forward to grab the handle of the bucket: "Brother Lu Qing, let me carry this for you!"

Lu Qing allowed it. These kids ranged from eight to twelve years old and were bursting with restless energy; giving them a task was a good way to keep them occupied.

The small group arrived at the chosen bend in the river shortly after.

"Stay up here on the slope and watch. Do not get close to the water, okay? Ah Hu, since you're the oldest, you're in charge of watching them."

Ah Hu was the most mature of the group.

At twelve years old, he was already beginning to show a sense of responsibility.

"I've got it, Brother Lu Qing!"

Seeing them settle in, Lu Qing nodded, took his rod and bucket, and made his way down the incline toward the water's edge.
