"What?"
Maryam gasped, her eyes filled with concern as she gazed at her son.
Tears began to well in her pale, sightless eyes. With trembling, frantic movements, she reached out to touch Noah’s head, her hands moving over him from every angle.
"Are you truly okay?" she asked, her voice shaking with emotion. "What happened to you? Did you lose your mind? Oh, Soul Rot! Where? Where—!"
"Mother," Noah said, his voice steady and grounding, instantly bringing Maryam to a halt.
She instinctively shut her eyes, taking a deep breath through her nose and mouth until she found her composure.
Noah gently stroked the hand she still held against his head, projecting a sense of peace.
A small smile played on his lips, and his unique, mismatched eyes shimmered with an intense light. "Nothing happened to me," he remarked, tilting his head slightly before adding, "Well, nothing you need to fret over, at least."
"But then what was that?" Maryam asked, her panic receding.
She had clearly felt Noah seizing control of every soul in her possession. Yet, inexplicably, her souls remained with her.
Was it a hallucination? Maryam knew better. With her level of Cultivation and power, her mind was far too disciplined to suffer from waking dreams.
What exactly had transpired?
Observing his mother’s confused and anxious expression, Noah realized he had to explain. He saw no reason to keep the recent events a secret from her. Maryam was his mother, and he intended to share his bloodline with her—provided she accepted it.
However, there was a more pressing matter to attend to first.
'Perhaps you should put on some clothes?' Gaia suddenly chimed in, her tone laced with a hint of suppressed laughter.
It was only then that Noah realized he was standing there completely naked.
Maryam was staring at him, but her gaze couldn't help but drift downward, settling on his lower half.
He took a quick look at himself and felt a momentary shock at his own change. Maryam, however, didn't seem bothered at all. She looked at him with the same intensity a child might have when staring at a piece of candy.
For a second, Noah thought he heard her swallow hard. He dismissed it as his imagination.
'But why?' Noah projected to Gaia. 'I assumed you would enjoy the scenery!'
'Do you realize who you are talking to?"
'My mother?'
'Ye—! I mean, no! I am the Will Eternal,' she corrected him sharply. 'Why would nudity concern me?"
'Don't test me. Do you want me to give you a real show? I’m quite good at showing off!'
'You’ve grown far more arrogant,' Gaia noted, unable to hide her amusement. 'Just because you’ve obtained such a bloodline? Do I need to teach you a lesson in humility?'
'As my mother?"
'If your other two mothers are too blinded by their obsession with you to discipline you, then I will take the responsibility myself!'
Noah let out a soft, knowing smile.
'Sacrificing yourself for the greater good, are you?'
'Someone has to. And only I am capable of it!'
'Should I be thanking you, then?'
'Start by getting dressed,' she giggled. 'Your mother is practically drooling!'
Noah shifted his striking eyes and looked directly at Maryam.
His beautiful mother was, in fact, salivating.
Maryam wasn't even making eye contact anymore. While her hand continued to stroke his hair absentmindedly, her entire focus was locked onto his lower body.
She seemed to be using every ounce of her willpower to keep from pouncing on him.
Noah watched the scene with quiet amusement.
'You really aren't going to leave anyone alone, are you?' Gaia asked, seemingly unconcerned by Noah’s lack of shame.
'I’ve already crossed that line once,' Noah replied with a mental shrug before slowly standing up.
As he moved, Maryam snapped back to reality.
'Eons upon eons without a man,' Maryam thought with a trace of bitterness. 'Eons with only my son in my heart. It seems I’ve been suppressing these urges for far too long.'
Overwhelmed by shame, her face flushed crimson as she averted her eyes.
Her longing was powerful, and Noah was the only focus of her desire. Yet, she felt she couldn't act on it, knowing Selene was his wife. She cursed her own thoughts.
Noah stood tall, and his mother couldn't help but marvel at his height. He reached out his right hand with deliberate slowness, touching the surrounding mist with a fingertip.
Upon contact, the properties and data of the fog flooded his mind. A complex mental schematic filled with equations and symbols appeared before him.
Noah grasped the logic instantly. With a flick of his wrist, he used his Atom manipulation to transmute the fog into grey attire. A simple shirt formed over his torso, followed by a pair of matching pants.
Maryam let out a faint sigh of disappointment.
"Thank you," Noah said, finishing the thought Gaia had interrupted. "Thank you for your assistance!"
Gaia went quiet.
Within her own private realm, surrounded by her creations and tranquil pools, the Mother of Mothers couldn't stop a small smile from forming.
She realized that this was perhaps the very first time any being had sincerely thanked her.
It was a novel sensation.
Usually, others either trembled in fear or knelt in worship. Sometimes both. This applied to everyone who knew of her, even The Records. But Noah was different; like the Son of Emptiness, he had no obligation to show gratitude.
Having him around was refreshing. He didn't fear her, and he didn't treat her like a deity. Instead, he enjoyed their verbal sparring and even dared to provoke her.
Her smile grew wider. For a brief moment, she wondered if this was what it felt like to have a child or a family, rather than just subordinates and devotees.
She shook her head, forcing a stern expression. 'You should be bowing down to thank me!'
Noah laughed, causing Maryam to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
'I don’t mind bowing to my mother. Do you want—!"
'I am not your mother!' she snapped, and Noah felt her mental link to him abruptly disconnect.
He let out a boisterous laugh.
"Have you lost your senses?" Maryam asked, eyeing his new clothes. "You still haven't explained what happened to you, or why you look so different."
Noah’s laughter faded into a smile. He walked over and draped an arm around Maryam’s shoulders, beginning his explanation.
He kept it brief, providing only the essential details. He made sure to mention his unique ability to absorb the power of anyone who chose to bind themselves to him. He intended to share this with his wives eventually, so there was no reason to keep it from Maryam.
As the Soul Ruler listened, she began to grasp the situation, deeply impressed by the nature of Noah’s power.
While she processed this, Noah took the opportunity to examine his new bloodline and his transformed self more closely. He then checked his Gift, scratching his head in confusion at the description.
[Gift Ignoramus: You know nothing. And because you don't know, you will know. And if you don't wish to know, and others to not know, then nothing shall be known.]
He read the words repeatedly. He had a few theories about its function, but he would need to experiment to be certain.
'That can wait for later,' he decided. 'I’ve spent too much time here. My wives must be worried sick!'
He knew the creation of his bloodline must have caused massive ripples. The other Soul Rulers and the Will of the Spirit World had undoubtedly felt the shift. He needed to wrap things up by bringing his wives into his new power system.
<What is your plan?> Providence inquired.
'Through my bloodline, each of my wives will gain an Aspect of Reality and a Gift,' Noah thought.
<Yes.>
'And I possess my First Authority, which is Name!'
<Indeed.>
"I will establish a unique rank for them called Paragon. Each wife will awaken their Aspect and Gift, and I will bestow upon them the title of Paragon based on their specific specialty!"
"They will hold the highest rank within my bloodline and my system of those who are Bound."
The Ruler and his Paragons.
<How will they advance?> Providence asked, sounding intrigued.
"How else?" Noah smirked. "Through their achievements."
Then...
"Providence," he called out.
<Yes?>
"You shall be my Records," Noah declared. Before Providence could react to such a monumental statement, he turned back to his mother.
She was already watching him expectantly.
Noah gave her a broad grin.
"Mother, let’s go," he said, reaching out his hand. "If you’re willing, you’ll be the first to start the bloodline process alongside my wives."
She took his hand with a smile. "How could I refuse?" She pulled him toward her with incredible strength.
Noah allowed the momentum, and as he reached her...
The pocket realm dissolved like mist, returning them to the meeting room.
Inside Noah’s mind, Providence’s voice echoed, still dazed. <What do you mean by 'Records', Noah?>
'You don’t like the title?' Noah mused. Seeing his wives’ shocked and awestruck faces at his new form, he smiled. "Then let’s call you something else!"
He stepped firmly onto the floor.
"The Will."
He smirked.
'You shall be The Will of my domain, darling!'
Faintly, Reality itself vibrated, recognizing the birth of something unprecedented. It was the start of a new era, a cycle within a cycle.
And another.
And...
Another.
The Wheel had begun to turn.
