Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2652: 1459: Pursuit and Fierce Battle (Part 2)
Xiao Jing's tone turned even more pressing as she warned, “It looks like she's picking up on some threat drawing near!”
Before Xiao Jing could even wrap up her words, a subtle rumble echoed through the air, joined by the heavy grind of massive rocks scraping together.
Right away, a wave of sinister aura and killing intent burst forth from every side, transforming the once peaceful cavern below into a chaotic storm.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, that's the presence of the Witch Demons and the Dead Spirits!”
Gripping his enormous axe across his chest, Loris furrowed his brow and declared, “The foes have laid a trap right here!”
As Loris's words died down, ghostly red lights began to glow in pairs at the mouths of the dark tunnels that had been completely black before, while hordes of Witch Demons and Dead Spirits charged out, radiating fierce malice.
Having just entered the wide central space, the adversaries swiftly created a vast ring around us, enclosing everyone completely.
Up in the sky, flocks of undead resembling avian humanoids soared, their mana-infused bone wings beating rhythmically, glaring down at us from on high.
In that instant of shock, Leo Ray spotted that the old tunnel they'd come through was now fully sealed off, overrun by crowds of Witch Demons and mighty Dead Spirits emerging from it.
It became obvious that the earlier low rumble from the boulders was probably the noise of the enemies activating a hidden doorway inside.
“Heh, I didn't think you'd actually dare to strike here—talk about biting off more than you can chew.”
A raspy, sneering voice rang out, and the Witch Demon Vice Leader, who had shown up next to Lucas, advanced leisurely, his bony features twisted in scorn, “Too bad, you're all destined to join their ranks soon.”
With that, the Witch Demon Vice Leader reached out a withered arm, slapping the shoulder of a formidable Dead Spirit close by with force.
The Dead Spirit's fractured skull bore a faded, shattered crown, its hollow sockets blazing with fierce crimson glow. Its jawbone rattled against its fangs, producing a chilling “thunk thunk thunk” sound, appearing utterly horrifying.
“You rascal, quit muttering to yourself over there—I'll yank off that withered skull of yours soon enough!”
Loris brandished his Tier 6 massive axe with fury, then shot a look at Leo Ray, murmuring softly, “Your Majesty of the Humans, what's our move?”
Despite his fiery disposition as the rainforest chief, he wasn't one to charge blindly, and he certainly wouldn't dive in without thought.
Once Loris had spoken, Sina directed a serious look his way too, clearly seeking Leo Ray's input.
She could already tell these Witch Demons and robust Dead Spirits were all beyond Tier 5 in power, and their count was over double what we had.
The head of them, together with the crowned Dead Spirit, matched her own Tier 6 Seven Stars level—a challenge that was anything but easy.
On top of that, being in the Witch Demons' territory, who knew what extra tricks they might pull.
For that instant, beads of sweat formed on the brows of our top warriors, Loris and Sina included, and no one wanted to risk it, since these Witch Demons proved way stronger than anticipated.
Up against enemies who outmatched us in both might and quantity, one misstep meant total wipeout.
“Follow the initial strategy—push through to that tunnel we spotted before!”
Leo Ray shot back without a second's pause, “Once we're in the tighter corridor, their edge in numbers won't count for much!”
“Your Majesty of the Humans has the right idea—let's hack our way through!”
Loris clutched his huge axe firmly, voicing his support at once, as Sina concentrated her energy, readying herself for the fight.
Next, backed by Loris and Sina, our elite forces obeyed Leo Ray's order and surged toward the tunnel housing the stone spirits.
All the while, the opponents didn't sit still. Directed by the Witch Demon Vice Leader, showers of arrows and bone lances poured down, only to get blocked by Little Jie's ready Absolute Defense Barrier.
In no time, Leo Ray guided our powerhouses right up to the enemy's lines.
With a sharp crack.
The instant they clashed, as predicted, the Absolute Defense Barriers from both groups broke apart at the same time, then came the roar of power surges and the ring of blades meeting.
“Stick close and follow up—make them feel our bite and slash!”
The Lion-man Clan's elites, under Loris's command, led the assault, bellowing as they plunged into the bone-pale enemy array.
The foes countered just as hard, sending waves of energy-shielded skeleton soldiers to swarm and trap Loris and his initial breakthroughs.
As a top force in the Rainforest Fortress Alliance, the Lion-man Clan led by Loris, full of battle-hardened members, handled the greater numbers effortlessly, spinning through the opponents with furious whirlwind strikes.
Beyond the Lion-man Clan, the Tiger-man Clan, Leopard-man Clan, and rest of the Rainforest Fortress Alliance's fighters joined in fast, helping Loris secure a position deep in the enemy midst.
Old Susan and the Water Elves, Thomas with the Centaurs, and Lina's relatives all displayed their abilities, firing off volleys of arrows and casting spells wildly.
At the same time, the Desert Alliance's warriors under Sina held their own, Lannis directing the Catman Clan while the keen Fox People Tribe members advanced, and the Medusas and Fishmen, experts in distance strikes, fired petrifying beams and spears to back the vanguard.
Our team's powerhouses, centered on Leo Ray, shone brightly, with Treants such as Shuert shifting into giant trees, batting away multiple Dead Spirits in one swing.
Broy and the Dwarf Elves managed Alchemy Puppets, syncing with the Trolls' and Minotaurs' rushes and pounds, rapidly ripping a gap in the enemy setup.
The Fairy Clan's elites, guided by Crisis and Fanny, offered spell aid, even building a few Magic Fortresses to repel threats from the sides.
Dragonborn like Nal targeted the airborne birdman undead, diving into brutal skirmishes.
Leo Ray himself went all out, starting with a line of Thunder Magic Towers, then Thunder Fox Burst, Whale Fall Thunder Explosion, and Thunderfall, his blows lighting up the field in brilliant violet flashes amid thunderous booms and scorched earth.
Thanks to our united efforts, the Witch Demon and Dead Spirit guards at the tunnel entrance soon descended into chaos.
Despite their numbers, they couldn't hold against our focused push at one spot, resulting in this mess.
As the shouts of war and power bursts ramped up, right when our powerhouses looked set to split the enemy ranks in two, the Witch Demon Vice Leader brought more Witch Demons to seal the tunnel mouth.
Plus, more than a hundred Tier 6 Dead Spirits, featuring the sinister crowned one from before, swooped in, positioning themselves directly in front of the Witch Demons.
“You insignificant bugs trying to topple a giant tree—you won't pierce this trap!”
The Witch Demon Vice Leader jeered with utter contempt, issuing orders that sent a host of Tier 6 Dead Spirits, pulsing with deadly intent, charging our way.
This unexpected foe backup brought our momentum to a clear stop.
In that pause, additional enemy troops poured in, hastily building a fresh barrier that once more hemmed in our powerhouses at the heart.
Especially for Loris and the forward Lion-man Clan members, they got hemmed in by the enemies' Tier 6 Dead Spirits, turning the fight dire, with several unprepared Lion-man warriors crying out in pain as they dropped, their groans filling the air.
