Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2640: 1453: Listening and Surprise

Leo Ray assessed the restored calm in the Fortress after the battle, learning from Crisis that General Jess and the Ancient Dark Elves had perished in a desperate defense against the Rainforest Grand Army, buying crucial time for reinforcements. He inquired about repelling the invaders, prompting Grey Elder to recount their mission to Lina’s hometown, where they discovered the alliance leaders, including Loris, had likely been secretly replaced by impostors issuing illogical orders. Suspecting Witch Demons' illusion techniques trapped the real leaders, the group traced faint magical traces in a dense forest, only to fall into an ambush by enemy Witch Demons and Dead Spirits Soldiers.

The liches wasted no time after encircling the ministers, unleashing a torrent of lethal assaults where bone spears and bursts of bone erupted in every direction.

Even though the ministers and their companions were far weaker than their foes, the Tier 6 gear and powerful aces granted by Your Majesty allowed them to hold their ground at first, trading blows on equal terms with the enemies.

In particular, the Tier 6 Defense Scrolls gifted by Your Majesty ensured that even team members like Lina avoided being struck down by the foes' onslaughts, while they countered with Tier 6 Attack Scrolls to inflict serious damage on the adversaries.

Confusion filled the old eyes of Grey Elder as he went on recounting the events from that moment.

Yet the foes' power proved too dominant in the end, and the ministers' hidden strengths were soon depleted.

As the liches pressed their brutal and vicious barrage amid wild cackles, with the ministers' side on the verge of collapse and death looming at any second, the liches' onslaughts halted abruptly, and even the undead under their command crumbled to the earth, turning back into mere skeletons.

At Grey Elder's words, curiosity deepened on Leo Ray's expression, and he questioned in astonishment, “Old President, does that mean the liches' magic lost its power all of a sudden?”

“Exactly, Your Majesty. The ministers felt utterly baffled upon noticing this, and the liches appeared even more shocked, having no clue about what had just happened.”

Grey Elder inclined his head in respect as he replied, “The whole battlefield froze as if someone hit pause, with endless bone spears raining from above—but not aimed at our people; rather, they targeted the liches before they could respond.”

Bombarded by the savage hail of bone spears, and unable to cast any spells, all the enemies swiftly collapsed, bringing peace to the chaotic field.

Yonir picked up the tale, adding, “Soon after, a well-known silhouette emerged in front of the ministers' group, leaving them all speechless.”

“Lord, both Presidents were taken aback, and so were we subordinates.”

Lina let out a light laugh in agreement.

“So this known silhouette who came forward saved everyone from the danger, and the whole group recognized that person?”

Leo Ray looked from Grey Elder to Yonir and then to Lina, his surprise evident.

Beyond the shock, a spark ignited in Leo Ray's gaze as understanding dawned swiftly.

From what he remembered, the sole person who could connect with all three at once and wield undead sorcery was undoubtedly Frank, among the famed Nine Dragon-slaying Heroes of old.

Frank had long been a close ally to Grey Elder and Yonir, fellow members of the Nine Dragon-slaying Heroes, and served as Lina's mentor.

“It looks like Your Majesty has pieced it together.”

Yonir dipped his head toward Leo Ray in confirmation, “Indeed, Frank stepped in to aid the ministers out of their dire straits.”

“Where is he at this moment?”

A trace of eagerness crossed Leo Ray's features as he pressed right away.

One must remember, Frank stood as a mythic icon of the human race, and per Lina's account, he might hold the secret to reviving the Treant forest's magic ley lines, much like Shuert.

Besides, by aiding our forces in such a perilous bind at the crucial hour, it was only right to express proper gratitude, and drawing him to our cause would be even better.

“To answer Your Majesty, let us begin from what followed those events.”

Yonir placed a hand over his chest in a bow before proceeding, “Once the lich ambush was thwarted, the ministers, though amazed, lacked the chance to express thanks to Frank and instead briefed him succinctly on the full circumstances.”

“Having grasped the situation, he called forth a Siren Dead Spirit right then, and in short order, he tore open a massive breach in that elaborate illusion domain.”

As Yonir spoke, Leo Ray nodded in contemplation.

The Siren Clan earned fame as the bane of illusions and excelled in such arts themselves. During his initial run-in with Nolan, he had endured considerable hardship from them.

Nolan being Frank's disciple as well made it no shock that the master commanded a Siren Dead Spirit.

While Leo Ray pondered this, Yonir's aged tone rang out once more.

“With Frank and the Siren Dead Spirit's help, the ministers pressed deeper into the illusion domain, at last locating the Rainforest leader along with other mighty Rainforest warriors by his side, all confined in separate spots inside and unable to budge even a step.”

“From there, matters grew straightforward. Learning that pretenders had directed the Rainforest Grand Army to assault Theta Fortress, the Rainforest leader and his companions hastened back alongside the ministers.”

“Amid the fray, the foes first tried denying everything, but the Rainforest leader's hot-tempered nature led him to grab the moment and rip the faker apart, exposing the lich beneath and swiftly reclaiming command of the troops.”

“The chaos peaked in that exchange, letting a handful of liches slip away in the turmoil, as Frank gave immediate pursuit and remains absent to this day.”

Wrapping up his account, Yonir grinned, “In the end, as Your Majesty witnessed, the Rainforest Grand Army pulled back in haste, lifting the threat from Theta Fortress.”

“I see. This round, you all alongside the esteemed Frank rendered vital service. When the lich threat ends for good, rewards will follow based on deeds.”

Having absorbed the complete recounting, Leo Ray nodded to the group and stated, “You've toiled hard—my thanks.”

“Your Majesty's words overpraise us. Frank truly turned the tide here. Who'd have thought we'd reunite with this old companion after so many years.”

Grey Elder ran a gentle hand over his snowy beard, his smile warm.

“Liches scheme deeply; I hope his return comes swiftly.”

Leo Ray drew in a steady breath, concern flickering back across his visage.

“Rest easy, Lord. My teacher counters liches and fellow necromancers like no other—he won't suffer lightly.”

Noticing Leo Ray's unease, Lina offered a reassuring smile, “It may not take long for teacher to come back unharmed.”

“You're right. When he does, I won't skimp on honoring this elder.”

These assurances eased the tension on Leo Ray's face a bit.

From the two Presidents' tales, Frank clearly wielded ways to counter liches, and after roaming the Outer Region for ages, he moved with caution and ought to avoid mishaps.

Right then, as Leo Ray mulled this over, a sturdy form soared in from the distance and landed promptly in his presence.
