Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2635: 1450: Confession and Return (Part 2)

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray questioned the enigmatic sand-robed old man about his identity, only to learn that the ancient being had forgotten his origins after three thousand years, likely due to the Era of Blankness. The old man revealed that Sina's ancestor, the first post-Blankness Queen of the Medusas with a blue snake tail, was the only other to ask, forging an agreement that allowed the Medusa queens to inherit ancestral skills through the Magic Stele. This stele, embedded in the old man's bone within the clan's holy space, granted power enhancements as a byproduct, while the swarm of white eye-like guardians outside were merely extensions of his body, activated to defend against threats to his essence.

Belinda, bound by the Silence Technique and multiple restraining spells, felt a surge of remorse and fury upon hearing those words. In her fury, she spat out a gush of fresh blood before collapsing into unconsciousness.

“Guardians of Devouring? They launch attacks on their own when they detect danger? It’s strikingly like how immune cells respond; a closer look shows those Guardians truly look like cells.”

Leo Ray paid no heed to Belinda at all. Instead, he latched onto the crucial detail in the man’s statement right away, understanding, “So, they see us and the Medusas as invaders inside Your Excellency’s body, which is why they strike first?”

“Exactly, they’re just components of my own body. Even though I’ve fallen, while the core of my life force hasn’t fully faded, they’ll keep carrying out their duty without fail.”

The old man in sand robes maintained his righteous stance, giving a nod of affirmation.

Though the revelation seemed hard to believe, Leo Ray grasped it swiftly from those words.

It made sense now why the Guardians of Devouring viewed Sina as one of their own; during her coronation, she had taken in that power, gaining a huge surge in her abilities, and remnants of it surely lingered in her, explaining the circumstance without surprise.

“Your Excellency, we intend no harm, and the ones who rashly triggered the stele are already in custody, facing the severest penalties. Based on the pacts made with our forebears, we beseech you to allow our departure from this place!”

Sina’s ashen features showed intense desperation as she hurriedly bowed to the sand-robed old man, her hand clasped over her chest in respect.

“No issue there, even though you struck at the stele before, it merely roused me from my rest, and I won’t blame you for it.”

The sand-robed old man lifted his shoulders in a shrug before adding, “However, to my sorrow, apart from this mental realm and a tiny zone around the stele, I’ve lost command over everything beyond, including the Guardians of Devouring, so I can’t order them outright.”

With the sand-robed old man’s statement landing, the group that had been celebrating moments ago plunged back into quiet despair, as Lannis and the fellow Catman powerhouses drooped their ears, appearing utterly powerless.

One had to admit, ever since stepping into this Medusa’s Holy Land, events had unfolded in wildly strange ways, exceeding all their anticipations.

“Even if Your Excellency can’t command the outer Guardians directly, surely you know alternative paths to exit this domain, don’t you?”

As the team’s spirits dropped further, Leo Ray’s steady tone rang out, directed at the sand-robed old man, “We’d be grateful for your guidance.”

“Yes, there’s another method to depart, where I send out a forced alert to notify those Guardians that the threat is over, leading them to dissolve and merge back into me naturally.”

The sand-robed old man agreed openly with a nod and continued, “Yet issuing this alert by force would drain my frail life essence even more; what reason do I have to aid you? Wouldn’t remaining here in my company bring delight to everyone? You’ll come to enjoy this realm shaped by my mental energy in no time.”

“Sadly, Your Excellency, we value your kindness, yet duties await us still.”

Leo Ray turned down the suggestion without hesitation, then added, “If I’ve guessed correctly, Your Excellency holds deep interest in your descendants, or else no deals would have been struck with the Medusa forebear.”

“But alas, after three thousand years, Your Excellency has seen no success, hasn’t he? Otherwise, you wouldn’t remain ignorant of your own identity.”

Drawing from his dealings with Jess and the rest, Leo Ray managed such moments adeptly and pressed on, “My main goal is to reveal this world’s buried secrets, among them the ones you yearn for most, so why not lend a hand to your quest with a bit more optimism?”

“You speak truth to me, and a rare, ancient force dwells in you that stirs caution in me, despite my power now being nearly gone. Not even the initial Tier 6 being provoked this sensation; you truly stand out.”

After a brief reflection, the sand-robed old man inclined his head toward Leo Ray and asked, “How will you show you’ll come back?”

“Straightforward enough, since Your Excellency conceals matters that intrigue me too, though we’re both blind to the link for now, and that link is the very reality we both seek.”

Leo Ray answered with a subtle grin, “Once I unearth the facts, I’ll return here of course.”

“I see; my reluctance to depart stems from wanting to uncover what’s hidden.”

The aged gaze of the sand-robed elder lingered on Leo Ray briefly before he nodded and declared, “Very well, I’ll release you all.”

As the sand-robed old man concluded, a sudden sandstorm whipped up, with endless grains of sand pulling back and vanishing rapidly, restoring the expansive, untainted white expanse from before, while the sand-robed old man himself had faded away.

The sight of the scattering sand particles proved intensely moving, leaving all onlookers with widened eyes in awe.

Following that, the old man’s frail, aged voice resounded once more in their ears: “There, I’ve dispatched the alert to the Guardians of Devouring, so you’re free to exit my body now, young one, keep your word.”

“This endless desert represents my form, born from the aura of my remains in those days. Each time you behold this desert, recall your vow.”

At the sound of the elder’s voice, the group’s surroundings blurred abruptly, placing them once again by the magical stele on the altar.

“Lord, that odd elder spoke honestly; we’ve truly shifted from his mental domain back to the physical world!”

Xiao Jing’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she announced it, her Stone Spirit nature granting her sharp senses for detection and hiding, thus offering clear awareness of their environment.

A glance around revealed the once-crowded Guardians swiftly blending into the nearby white formations, the unbreakable barriers dissolving too, granting the area much-needed room.

“Excellent, we can’t delay; let’s go!”

Assessing the scene, Leo Ray had no moment for further words and, together with Sina, Lannis, and the other warriors, dashed quickly toward the hidden passage’s exit they’d entered by.

After that, their progress went without a hitch, and they emerged on the surface before long.

By then, the Catman Clan fighters pressed their assault against the adversaries, but the enemies suffered a clear setback, their drive severely diminished.

“Belinda is vanquished; will you not yield at this point?”

Sina, apparently employing a form of Mirror Image Magic, enlarged her form manyfold in the heavens, her words booming across the entire field of battle.

Faced with Sina’s commanding tone, the already demoralized Medusas ceased their futile defiance, dropping their arms at once and prostrating before Sina, imploring Queen Her Majesty’s mercy.

The leftover Witch Demons and Dead Spirits met swift destruction soon after, vanishing without a trace.

“Human Majesty, we need to rush to the Desolate Fortress without delay; Lucas and his Witch Demons must atone dearly!”

With the Catman Grand Army assembled anew, Sina inclined her head to Leo Ray and stated gravely.

“Yes, they’ll suffer a price too heavy to bear for their actions.”

Leo Ray affirmed, taking the lead in his stride, as the rest of the party hurried after him toward Ice Stone City.
