Following this, the formal trade agreements were finalized under the Administrator's supervision. As both parties secured their desired resources, the mood in the room shifted to one of great enthusiasm.
“Making the acquaintance of Your Majesty of the Humans has truly made this trip worthwhile.”
Reece stood in the expansive, well-lit hall, looking revitalized in his brand-new Tier 6 armor. He gave a respectful nod toward Leo Ray, adding, “Should Your Majesty acquire any more sixth-tier gear, I hope you will inform me at once!”
“Rainforest Leader, you flatter me. Equipment of the sixth tier is not easily stumbled upon. I simply happened to possess a few pieces that perfectly suited you two leaders.”
Leo Ray maintained a polite smile as he observed the lion-faced man across from him, who appeared friendly on the surface.
This individual seems to be engaging in pleasantries, but he is clearly trying to probe the depth of my inventory.
Even though the transaction was a success and a strategy to eliminate the Witch Demon was set, the foundation of this alliance is purely mutual interest.
Once the Witch Demon is dealt with, this lion might very well turn his greed toward me. I certainly won't be revealing my hand so easily.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, I eagerly anticipate our next encounter.”
Sina, now draped in a fresh sixth-tier magic robe, watched Leo Ray with shimmering eyes. “Perhaps our future interactions will become even more intimate.”
“I appreciate the sentiment, Desert Leader.”
Leo Ray responded to the captivating Medusa Queen with the same composed smile, keeping his guard up.
His expression then hardened as he spoke with gravity, “I trust neither of you has dismissed my earlier warning. The reports regarding an army gathering near my borders are not mere fiction.”
“Have no fear, Your Majesty. The Rainforest Fortress Alliance has no room for traitors or agitators.”
Reece’s expression mirrored Leo Ray’s seriousness. He nodded firmly, saying, “The moment we return, a rigorous internal investigation will be launched.”
“I shall do the same. I will root out these troublemakers regardless of their status.”
Sina’s brow furrowed as she added, “I have no intention of letting those responsible escape justice.”
“Excellent. Tomorrow night shall be our coordinated strike to wipe the Witch Demon from existence.”
Leo Ray summarized the plan with a slight nod. “We will reconvene here tomorrow evening to finalize the tactical details.”
The two leaders agreed, and the gathered powerhouses from both alliances appeared primed for the coming conflict.
With the arrangements concluded, the groups exchanged farewells. Guided by the Administrator, they departed the Shadow Market and vanished into the dark of the night.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, they have all departed.”
Once it was certain that only Leo Ray’s subordinates remained, the Administrator turned to him. “I must observe that Your Majesty’s maneuvers today were exceptionally effective.”
“I owe much to your cooperation, Your Excellency.”
After a brief smile, Leo Ray summoned his high-ranking officials from the adjacent room to begin immediate preparations for the next phase.
Leo Ray placed heavy emphasis on maintaining high alert at the border fortifications. He even went as far as secretly relocating the ancient Dark Elves to the stronghold near Sighing Valley.
This location pushed the ancient Dark Elves beyond their standard operational range, causing Jess and the others to experience a significant drop in power; however, they still commanded the strength equivalent to ten quasi-Tier 4 Legions.
Simultaneously, the Shadow Market transitioned away from Sighing Valley, heading back toward Leo Ray's territory.
“Your Majesty, since we have secured a temporary pact with the two alliances, is such extreme caution truly necessary?”
Bruno, his bovine features showing confusion, voiced his doubts.
“We remain at a massive numerical disadvantage compared to those two forces. Caution is our best defense.”
Leo Ray looked at Bruno and explained, “Furthermore, the Witch Demon is still at large, and we cannot dismiss the possibility of a double-cross by our new 'allies'.”
The group nodded in understanding and quickly dispersed to execute their assigned tasks.
As Leo Ray managed his deployments, the freezing night winds shrieked around the elite teams of Sina and Reece as they retreated to their own lands.
Near the edge of a desolate wasteland, Sina’s group was traversing a low-lying basin when a powerful silhouette emerged.
The figure was massive and imposing. Under the pale moonlight, the large wolf head revealed bared teeth while a low, guttural growl vibrated in its throat.
Sina and the Desert Alliance experts stopped dead in their tracks, their faces clouding with tension.
The figure blocking their path was Lucas, the Vice Leader of the Desert Alliance.
Sina had kept quiet about Lucas earlier because he had been missing for two days without a trace.
News of a missing Vice Leader would have severely damaged alliance morale and given their rivals an opening to strike.
“Lucas, where have you been hiding these last two days?”
Sina’s voice was icy as she stared at the hostile wolf-man. Her eyes betrayed a cold suspicion.
It was Lucas who had suggested stationing the army near Leo Ray’s borders. Combined with Leo Ray’s warnings, Sina had already begun to view him as the most likely mole.
Lucas offered no verbal reply. He began a slow, predatory advance toward Sina’s group, saliva dripping from his fangs as a thick aura of bloodlust surrounded him.
At the same time, several figures cloaked in the stench of death materialized around Lucas, their withered, mummy-like faces twisted into grotesque grins.
“It’s the Witch Demon! It appears the Vice Leader has truly turned traitor!”
The Masked Man immediately extended his sharp claws, stepping in front of Sina to protect her. The other Desert Alliance warriors drew their weapons, fully alert.
With the moonlight at its peak, Lucas’s natural strength was amplified enough to challenge Sina directly.
Furthermore, the accompanying Witch Demons were all Tier 6 entities. With their ability to summon the undead, there was no telling how many hidden enemies lurked in the shadows. Even for these elite fighters, victory was far from certain.
The fact that the enemy had revealed themselves suggested they had prepared a lethal trap.
Just as the two sides were about to clash, a sharp female command pierced the air: “Protect the Queen!”
Following the shout, more than ten Medusa elites, each radiating a powerful Tier 6 presence, descended from above. Their massive serpentine lower bodies coiled protectively around Sina.
The leader of this reinforcement was Belinda, Sina’s sister and the Captain of her Personal Guard.
The tension in Sina’s pale face relaxed slightly at Belinda’s arrival. These guards were the elite of their race; with them present, a safe retreat was now a realistic possibility.
The other Desert Alliance members felt a surge of hope, their fighting spirit reignited by the backup.
“Sister, we shouldn't linger here. We need to break out first and discuss this later.”
Sina nodded to Belinda. She had no intention of fighting a prolonged battle with Lucas here. Her priority was to return to her main army and use their superior numbers to crush these traitors.
As a leader, Sina realized that if the enemy was bold enough to ambush her here, they likely knew of her plans against the Witch Demon and had already countered them.
Her only hope of reclaiming the advantage was to regain control of her full military force.
However, before Sina could even finish her thought, a sudden, catastrophic change occurred.
