Consequently, establishing trade routes and generating profit for each specific market is a matter of paramount importance.
However, when one considers the immense generosity displayed by Your Imperial Majesty of the Human Race, the petty squabbles over those minor connections seem pointless. To serve only Your Imperial Majesty of the Human Race is more than sufficient!
Both Administrator K and Administrator L felt their hearts race at the thought; the chance to completely reverse their waning fortunes was a dream come true! They viewed Your Majesty of the Humans as the pivotal figure who would make this transformation possible.
Meanwhile, Administrator M was nearly trembling with joy. Having been backed into a hopeless corner, he had not only crawled out of the abyss but was now poised to reach heights he had never dared to imagine!
The first official to contact us, Administrator N, also radiated excitement. While he had foreseen some advantages, he never expected Leo Ray to utilize such a magnificent gesture, placing the entire operation under his jurisdiction. This effectively solidified his dominance over the other three administrators!
“Now then, are we ready to discuss the arrangements for the senior market meeting?”
Leo Ray remained seated calmly at the head of the conference table, a faint smile playing on his lips as he spoke.
Upon hearing Leo Ray’s prompt, the four administrators took their places instantly, the movement accompanied by the sharp clatter of heavy armor.
“If these four served as my personal guards, I would possess the ultimate level of security.”
Leo Ray gave a slight nod, reflecting privately on the situation.
“Yet, achieving such a thing is clearly improbable. Aside from the Shadow Market’s long-standing policy of non-confrontation, neither the administrators nor the market guards are permitted to leave the market’s influence or step beyond its gates.
“Though this is a rigid decree enforced by the Bazaar Brotherhood, the Shadow Market is essentially a Land of Divine Favor. According to the data I have gathered, the power of God’s Attendants withers significantly once they depart from a Land of Divine Favor. The same restriction likely applies to these administrators and their guards.
“It is highly probable that the figures hidden within these suits of armor are actually former God’s Attendants. It is a mystery that certainly sparks my interest.
“Nevertheless, this is not the moment to investigate the secrets of my associates. My priority must be resolving the immediate crisis: identifying the culprits who attacked Dana and Davis and securing their rescue.
“Even if a battle is inevitable, I must pinpoint the actual adversary to ensure I am not being manipulated like a pawn in someone else’s game.”
Leo Ray continued to ponder, his brow furrowing deeper as he weighed the possibilities.
Observing Leo Ray’s grim expression, Administrator K was the first to pledge his loyalty, stating, “Rest assured, Your Majesty. Should the leadership of the Desert Alliance seek my counsel, I will insist that they participate in Brother N’s senior market!”
“Your Majesty, you have my support as well. If required, I am prepared to contact the leader of the Rainforest Fortress Alliance immediately to personally endorse Brother N’s senior market!”
Administrator L also nodded vigorously in agreement.
As for M, although he was eager to ingratiate himself with Leo Ray, he realized he was already within Leo Ray’s sphere of influence and had alienated three of the four major factions, so he remained silent.
“There is no need for direct contact. Being overly aggressive is bad for business.”
Leo Ray nodded slightly and replied, “If they ask for your advice, simply give your approval. Furthermore, I require your assistance with a different matter.”
As soon as Leo Ray finished speaking, Administrator L interjected, “Your Majesty, I am entirely at your service. I deeply regret the chaos at the Forest-side Fortress, but I beg you to believe me—I truly have no knowledge of who the culprit is.”
“Your Majesty, I am also unable to provide a definitive answer. While I maintain a close relationship with the Desert Alliance, our interaction is strictly commercial. They do not share their private schemes with me.”
Administrator K spoke with a troubled tone, adding, “To be perfectly honest, Your Majesty, I find it difficult to believe the Desert Alliance is the mastermind behind this incident.”
“Your Majesty, I doubt the Rainforest Fortress Alliance is responsible either!”
L quickly added his opinion, though he cautiously followed up by saying, “However, the hearts of men are unpredictable. I cannot claim to know every thought of the Rainforest Fortress Alliance’s leaders. If they are indeed the culprits, I hope Your Majesty will not hold me accountable.”
“I understand perfectly, and you will not be blamed. What I require from you is not the identity of the mastermind, but rather every piece of information you possess regarding these two alliances.”
Leo Ray offered a small smile and asked, “That shouldn't be an issue, should it?”
“Have no fear, Your Majesty, we shall reveal everything we know!”
L and K responded in unison, nodding their heads.
“Excellent. In that case, we can proceed with submitting the proposal for the senior market to the Bazaar Brotherhood.”
Leo Ray nodded with satisfaction before turning his gaze toward our administrator.
“Honored Human Majesty, what of my duties?”
M grabbed the chance to finally address Leo Ray directly.
“I have no specific task for Your Excellency M at this moment.”
Leo Ray maintained his smile as he continued, “However, once this meeting concludes, I would like Your Excellency M to keep a close watch on the movements at the border fortresses. This applies to Excellency L and Excellency K as well.”
With those instructions, Leo Ray shifted the conversation back to the logistics of the senior market, gathering specific details from the other side.
By sunset, Leo Ray had acquired a comprehensive understanding of both alliances. After gifting fifty pieces of high-quality equipment to each of them, he saw off Administrators K, L, and M.
The administrators were overjoyed by Leo Ray’s gifts and expressed their gratitude profusely. Meanwhile, our administrator arrived with news that the Bazaar Brotherhood had approved the request to convene a temporary senior market meeting.
“Your Majesty, now that permission has been granted, I have dispatched invitations for a gathering tonight as you commanded.”
Following these events, our administrator had effectively become Leo Ray’s trusted subordinate. He reported, “The invitation may seem sudden, but this is standard for temporary senior markets. They are usually triggered by the unexpected arrival of a major patron, so this will not raise any eyebrows.”
“As expected, Your Excellency handles matters with great efficiency.”
Leo Ray nodded his approval and then inquired, “Do you believe the other three administrators might leak our plans?”
“Your Majesty, that is virtually impossible.”
The administrator’s voice was full of certainty. “They have worked tirelessly to gain Your Majesty’s favor; they would never throw that away. They won't breathe a word to the two alliances. After all, the small token Your Majesty provided is enough to sustain their operations for centuries.”
“As for informing other administrators or the Brotherhood, that is even less likely. More participants mean less profit for them. They are far too cunning to sabotage their own earnings.”
Leo Ray raised an eyebrow, as this assessment aligned perfectly with his own thoughts.
As M had pointed out earlier, the Shadow Market consists of Trade Guardians who are essentially merchants. Provided the incentives are high enough, anything can be negotiated.
For a relatively small price, Leo Ray had gained access to four Lands of Divine Favor. Even if they could not participate in direct combat, their value for scouting and rapid logistics made this a highly profitable arrangement.
“Very well. Next, I shall meet the leaders of those two alliances. The time has come to unmask the mastermind.”
Leo Ray’s eyes sharpened with determination as he thought to himself.
