Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2581: 1423: The Lord's Contemplation

The entity known as the White Knight reveals that his kind, the Eclipse, are survivors of the Era of Blankness who share a singular goal: to trigger a world-ending Great Catastrophe. He explains that the Eclipse are linked by a supreme collective consciousness called the Ruins Returner, allowing them to share thoughts and coordinate with terrifying efficiency. Despite learning about this overwhelming hive-mind power, Leo Ray and his companions refuse to succumb to despair. However, a chilling realization settles over the group as they wonder if their every move is currently being observed by this mysterious collective entity.

Deep within the inner sanctum of the Lion King Temple, Xiao Jing’s anxieties hung in the air. Upon hearing her words, the other powerful figures in attendance mirrored her concern, their brows knitting together as their vigilance reached a new peak.

“There is no need for alarm. If this entity still maintained a link to the ‘Ruins Returner,’ wouldn’t the other ‘Corrosions’ have tracked him down over these past millennia?”

“Actually, to be more precise, if he had been detectable even while concealed within the White Knight, the ‘Ruins Returner’ would have sensed him instantly. How could he have managed such a clean escape?”

Leo Ray had clearly analyzed this possibility long ago. He spoke with an air of certainty, “Thus, it is logical to assume that once he chose to desert the depths of the ley lines, he found a method to permanently sever his connection with the ‘Ruins Returner.’”

“Lord of the Human Clan, your intellect is indeed sharp.”

A moment passed before the ‘White Knight’ finally broke his silence. “It is true. Though the price I paid was astronomical, I eventually succeeded in cutting the cord. I am now invisible to the ‘Ruins Returner.’”

“I appreciate the praise, Your Excellency.”

Leo Ray offered a faint smile before inquiring, “We have been conversing for some time; might I ask by what name I should address you?”

“Lord of the Human Clan, do not bother attempting to foster familiarity.”

Remaining devoid of emotion, the ‘White Knight’ replied, “I have stated before that the Great Catastrophe is an inevitability, and our paths shall not cross again. Even though I have abandoned my brethren, my nature as a ‘Corrosion’ remains. That is a fact that will never change.”

“Your Excellency, I believe you have misread my intentions. I never sought to establish a friendship with you from the start.”

With a calm and steady smile, Leo Ray continued, “However, as you mentioned, we are walking the same road, both hunting for the truths hidden within this world. Since we are fellow travelers on this difficult path, isn't it only natural to exchange names?”

“Perhaps. Yet, I possess no name. Under the direct management of the ‘Ruins Returner,’ ‘Corrosions’ have no need for individual identities to carry out their functions.”

The ‘White Knight’ paused, his brow furrowing in brief contemplation before he finally answered, “You may call me Seeker.”

“Seeker? A fitting title for the long journey ahead of us.”

Leo Ray gave a slight nod of acknowledgment. He then shifted the topic immediately: “Tell me, Seeker, since you possess the memories of the White Knight, you are surely aware of the Battle of the Dragon Nest. During that conflict, your kind acted as pawns for a specific member of the Dragon Clan, parasitizing many of the great dragons.”

“You are mistaken, Your Excellency. We ‘Corrosions’ are never manipulated by anyone. This is especially true of the ‘Purple Corrosions,’ who are the most devious beings in existence.”

Seeker remained composed as he explained, “While I did not witness it myself, I can surmise that they merely allowed that dragon to temporarily tap into a fraction of the ‘Ruins Returner’s’ power. As for the specifics of their arrangement with the dragon’s puppet master, that remains a mystery.”

“So, the power of the ‘Ruins Returner’ is capable of being shared?”

This revelation caused Leo Ray and the surrounding experts to frown deeply.

This confirmed that the mastermind pulling Poluso’s strings was undeniably linked to these ‘Purple Corrosions.’

‘I can only hope that Scarlete isn't further targeted by this mastermind for the time being. Currently, I lack the means to reach the distant Outer Region where the Red Dragon Territory lies—I cannot even reach Ice Stone City yet.’

Leo Ray exhaled slowly, keeping these thoughts confined to his mind.

“Even if one manages to seize the power of the ‘Ruins Returner,’ it is but a miniscule drop. No being among the Ten Thousand Clans can endure or even touch the consciousness of the ‘Ruins Returner.’ Any attempt to do so results, at best, in the same madness that claimed that pathetic old bard,” Seeker added, crossing his arms.

“But why would the ‘Corrosions’ choose to work with the mastermind? Their sole objective is total annihilation, isn't it? That seems entirely contradictory,” Xiao Jing remarked, her head tilted in confusion, her pale face clouded with doubt.

“There is no contradiction. An enemy can be dismantled through a frontal assault or destroyed from within; only the tactics differ.”

Seeker turned his blank gaze toward Xiao Jing. “The ‘Ruins Returner,’ as the ultimate consciousness, explores every possible avenue to ensure the mission’s success.”

“Furthermore, we ‘Corrosions’ are currently restricted to entering this realm in small numbers during ley line eruptions; we cannot manifest en masse. Surely you have deduced this? If it were otherwise, the Great Catastrophe would have concluded long ago, and the Ten Thousand Clans would be extinct.”

As a heavy silence settled over the room, the gathered experts all arrived at the same burning question.

Ariel Watson spoke up, voicing the collective uncertainty: “Your Excellency Seeker, what is preventing your kind from emerging from the depths of the magical ley lines right now?”

“Is it not obvious? An incredibly potent Magic Restriction acts as an impassable barrier, separating us in the depths from this world. For thousands of years, we have tried to breach it, yet we can only slip through during ley line bursts.”

Seeker let out a short, mocking huff. “We refer to this massive Magic Restriction that blankets the entire continent as the Magic Barrier. It is so densely woven that even basic Magic Particles struggle to penetrate it.”
