It was hardly a shock. Advancing Demonic Energy Technology necessitated a vast array of specialized facilities and materials—things the Dwarf Elves clearly lacked on this vessel, particularly regarding the production of Alchemy Puppets.
Leo Ray gave a brief nod after listening to Broy's report, his focus shifting back to the potential threats lurking in the shadows.
Before long, the party arrived at an expansive cabin section. Much like the areas they had traversed earlier, this zone was formed by the structural merging of dozens of different ships.
As Leo Ray prepared to lead the way inside, Jess, who had been scouting the path ahead, sent back a grim update: "Your Majesty, the floor is covered in bodies. It appears a slaughter concluded here only moments ago."
The news caused Leo Ray's expression to harden. The rest of the group grew equally tense, their drawn blades and Magic Wands shimmering with a cold light in the gloom.
Surrounded by his elite guard, Leo Ray stepped into the chamber, where the thick, metallic stench of fresh blood immediately overwhelmed their senses.
Surveying the scene, they saw corpses scattered in every direction. The pools of blood staining the deck had not yet begun to dry.
Leo Ray soon spotted the body of a Lord lying facedown. The man’s brown eyes were wide and bloodshot, frozen in a mask of pure terror, with a mixture of saliva and gore pooling beneath his head.
Despite being protected by polished knight armor, the Lord had been slain by a single, precise puncture wound. It was an instant kill. Surrounding him were other powerful warriors who had met the same fate; their wounds were identical, and their faces were all etched with the same look of sudden shock.
According to the analysis provided by Jess and the others, while most of the fallen were Tier 5 Powerhouses, at least three were Tier 6 Experts. They belonged to a single unit, yet their high-end gear and Storage Rings had been stripped clean.
"Lord, they were likely executed from behind by a single attacker. There are no signs that they even tried to fight back."
Xiao Jing knelt to inspect the remains for a moment before tilting her head in confusion. "But some of these men were Tier 6 Experts. Even if an ambush took one by surprise, the others should have had time to counter. How did they all end up dead without moving a muscle?"
"It truly looks as if they simply stood there and waited for the blade," Shuert remarked, his face as rigid as a wooden carving. He furrowed his brows in deep thought. "There are no enemy casualties here either. The assailant seems to have walked away without a scratch."
"It appears our opponent possesses a specific technique that caught them completely off guard," Shuert concluded.
A ripple of unease passed through the gathered powerhouses. Though the victims' strength didn't compare to their own, the sheer efficiency of the killing and the fact that the enemy remained unharmed was enough to make anyone's skin crawl.
Furthermore, the massacre had occurred just minutes—perhaps even seconds—prior, yet they had detected no sounds of struggle. This served as further proof of the adversary's terrifying speed and precision.
"Intriguing. However, our collective power is on a completely different level compared to this fallen Lord."
Leo Ray shifted his gaze from the dead to the formidable warriors standing by his side.
Dozens of shadowy figures, nearly sixty in total, were spread out around him, either maintaining a vigilant watch or investigating the surroundings.
Even though he had dispatched some of his forces elsewhere, the majority of his remaining followers were Tier 5 Powerhouses. Those standing directly at his side were true Tier 6 forces, with the exception of Broy and Konet who were operating Alchemy Puppets. Being shielded by over fifty Tier 6 powerhouses allowed him to move with absolute confidence.
"Your Majesty, we have finished our sweep. The corridors leading away from here were cleared using Anemo Magic to erase all footprints and scents. It is impossible to track where the other party went," Crisis and Fanny reported as they flew back to his side.
"I see. Regardless of what is waiting for us, it won't stop our progress."
Leo Ray addressed the group with a firm nod. "Continue the march. If that force tries to block us, we will show them exactly what kind of titan they have dared to provoke."
The powerhouses felt a surge of excitement at his words and resumed their advance according to his tactical layout.
To prepare for any sudden threats, Leo Ray reorganized their formation as they pushed deeper into the heart of the cabin area.
Outside the hull, the thunderous roar of Magic Cannons and the bellows of sea Demon Beasts continued unabated. Inside, however, the group moved in total silence, passing through the ship like a ghost breeze.
As the nearly sixty figures entered a massive storage bay, a figure concealed in a dark corner curled their lips into a cruel smile. New prey had wandered into the trap.
With a silent mental command, the once-still ceiling began to rustle. Massive shadows emerged like specters from the overhead darkness.
They moved with terrifying agility, emitting no Energy Wave or aura as they positioned themselves directly above the unsuspecting group.
In the gloom, these giant shadows clung to the ceiling, their gazes shifting downward with hidden malice. Each creature possessed eight nimble legs.
The silent stalkers were a swarm of giant spider Demon Beasts, each nearly two meters long and jet-black.
Because the ceiling was so high and the darkness so thick, these camouflaged spiders were perfectly hidden from the naked eye.
Seeing that the moment was right, the hidden figure in the shadows grinned and triggered the assault.
Upon that command, over thirty giant spiders shuddered simultaneously, launching a barrage of sticky, incredibly durable webs that blanketed the area below.
In a flash, before anyone could react, the entire group was ensnared in the thick webbing, rendered completely immobile.
At this sight, the shadow stepped out from the darkness with total confidence, his face glowing with triumph.
"These Black Demon Armor Spiders are naturally Tier 5, but with my Talent enhancement, they can hide from Tier 6 detection and have ten times the silk strength!"
"Unless a Tier 6 Five Stars expert shows up, escaping is impossible. It's no boast to say that even a Tier 6 Giant Dragon would face a certain death if caught off guard like this!"
The figure's identity was now clear: he was an Otherworldly Lord.
He flourished his Magic Wand, conjuring a glowing orb of light that revealed a twisted, predatory face.
From beneath his hood, his pale eyes shone with a sense of elitism and mockery as he walked toward his captives.
Following closely behind the Hooded Lord was a skeletal, blade-wielding warrior radiating a murderous aura, clearly ready to finish the job.
"Let's see what kind of morons have stumbled into my web this time."
The Hooded Lord spoke with a playful, arrogant tone. "I must say, the look of horror on the last fool's face was magnificent. Now, you can die in fear and regret just like him."
As the Hooded Lord finished speaking, the gaunt swordsman took his cue. With a poisonous smirk, he vanished, reappearing instantly behind the trapped Leo Ray.
Without a moment's hesitation, he drove his blade toward Leo Ray's back with lethal intent.
However, the events that followed were far beyond anything the arrogant Hooded Lord could have ever anticipated.
