Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2530 1396: Cause and Astonishment (Part 2)

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray and his companions have discovered an abandoned City of a Thousand Ships within the Barrier Area, uncovering vast stretches of withered farmland and residential traces that suggest a massive population once lived there. Upon venturing into the depths of a central vessel, the group found a sprawling underground square connecting multiple ship holds, designed with advanced waterproofing techniques. At the heart of this complex stands a monumental statue of a centaur warrior and an ancient altar, raising baffling questions about why a land-dwelling race would build a life upon the sea. As the powerhouses investigate this ritual site, a new discovery behind the statue draws the group deeper into the mystery.

Intricate and profound wall carvings adorned the inner cabin walls, their lifelike details shifting under the glow of the magic sphere.

"Lord, it looks like there is a story depicted here!"

Xiao Jing pointed toward one of the engravings with the excitement of someone uncovering a hidden secret: "And this part marks the beginning!"

Leo Ray followed the line of her finger to investigate.

The scene captured the daily existence of the Centaurs, depicting them hunting and playing amidst vast forests and sprawling plains.

Surrounding these lands were other settlements; Leo Ray identified the unique architecture of the Elf Tribe, the Dwarf Clan, and even towns belonging to the Fairy Clan. All lived in peaceful coexistence, and notably, no sea was visible in the depiction.

"It appears that during the initial period, these Centaurs resided in their natural ancestral lands," Broy remarked, his head tilted back as he studied the mural. "What could have compelled them to take to the ships?"

"Let us move to the next one."

Leo Ray shifted his attention to the second carving immediately adjacent to the first.

In this image, the once-endless plains were now interrupted by a body of water that reached the very edge of the frame—a feature entirely absent before.

While the carving's scale couldn't fully convey the water's immense depth, the presence of an albatross soaring above made it clear: this was the sea.

As the seawater encroached, the Fairy Clan was forced to abandon their homes and migrate to higher elevations, where they were welcomed by the Centaurs.

"The ocean actually manifested upon the plains?"

Broy’s eyes widened in shock at the sight.

Standing beside him, Leo Ray frowned, lost in deep contemplation.

The narrative was becoming unmistakable; the carvings documented a rise in sea levels that had submerged the original landmasses.

Furthermore, it was certain that these Centaurs did not hail from their own territory, as their own lands remained stable and unaffected by such a catastrophe.

It was also clear that these events transpired following the Era of Blankness.

The initial images showed the Centaurs awakening amidst crumbling ruins and fallen idols with expressions of total bewilderment—the classic hallmark of survivors from that era who had lost all memory of the past.

With these thoughts in mind, Leo Ray examined the subsequent carvings.

His suspicions were confirmed as the following scenes grew more dire; the habitable territory for the Centaurs and the Fairy Clan shrank progressively.

With land-based food sources nearly exhausted, they were forced to construct vessels and turn to fishing for sustenance.

Eventually, they were restricted to mountain peaks, using ships to maintain contact while surrounded by a limitless ocean.

Whether centuries or millennia passed, the final remnants of land eventually vanished. Consequently, all the different factions, Centaurs included, began to lash their ships together.

To survive, these various races cooperated, connecting their vessels to create the massive, awe-inspiring structure they were currently standing on.

In order to defend against increasingly aggressive and powerful sea demon beasts, they united to establish this sea Barrier Area, relocating their entire civilization here for safety.

"So that is the true history of how the Centaurs came to be here."

After finishing the mural, Broy spoke with a face full of amazement, "So, this city of a thousand ships wasn't the work of the Centaurs alone, but a joint effort by all the powers of that land?"

"That does seem to be the case; it appears this region is not part of the world we recognize."

Shuert nodded in agreement, a rare look of surprise crossing his elderly features.

"No wonder this place feels like solid ground. It was built by so many different forces."

Xiao Jing blinked her long eyelashes in wonder: "The Lord always says that gathering strength is the only way to face future trials, and this proves it!"

"If they aren't from our world, does that mean some invisible hand forcibly merged Barrier Areas from two distinct territories? The thought is staggering."

Jasper Richardson whispered to herself, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Leo Ray remained silent, weighing the different perspectives in his mind.

While the murals showed it took centuries for these people to reach this point, the current state of decay and desolation made it obvious that their struggle eventually ended in extinction.

Another detail troubled him deeply: the cause of the rising tides. The carvings offered no explanation for the source of the flood.

"Perhaps even they were ignorant of the cause."

Shaking off his thoughts, Leo Ray signaled to his companions: "Now that the history of this city of a thousand ships is clear, we must continue our trek; the path to our exit lies ahead."

The surrounding powerhouses nodded, turning their focus back to the mission.

The group soon exited the square through a connecting corridor, pushing deeper into the heart of the floating city.

They shortly reached what appeared to be a residential zone, where countless skeletons—now nothing but bleached bone—came into view.

Judging by the bone structure, most were Centaurs, though the smaller frames of Fairy Clan members were also present.

The remains lay in small clusters, slumped against cabin walls or collapsed beneath stairwells. Their dark, empty sockets and slightly parted jaws seemed to be whispering a tragic tale from a forgotten age.

The sight caused Crisis and Fanny, both powerful Wood and Flower Fairies, to knit their brows in sorrow.

Though these were not their direct relatives, seeing the remains of their species still filled them with a sense of mourning.

"Lord, the 'Lost Relic Effect' confirms they are definitely from the post-Era of Blankness period," Jasper Richardson noted pensively to Leo Ray. "Otherwise, no physical remains would have survived."

"Agreed. Let us press on."

Leo Ray stepped past a Centaur skeleton, inhaling slowly.

A pungent, salty scent of decay hung heavy in the air, enough to turn one's stomach.

After passing through several more residential sections, they arrived at a large open space.

It was a park, featuring a central fountain that had long since run dry and flower beds that were now nothing but dust.

Skeletons sat lined up on the park benches, looking as though they had been peacefully watching their final sunset.

As Leo Ray scanned the area, his eyes caught on a shadow that looked completely out of place.

Focusing his vision, he realized it was indeed a body—but it wasn't a dry skeleton. It was a fresh corpse that had died recently!

"Lord, what is that?!"

The subordinates quickly noticed the anomaly, their faces filling with shock.

"Let’s investigate."

With a flick of his wrist, the shining blade Rolanddel appeared in Leo Ray’s grip.

As he drew closer, Leo Ray’s eyes widened, his astonishment deepening.

The body had been sliced clean in half, its face frozen in a mask of pure terror. Blood was still pooled around it, but the most shocking part was the realization that this person was not a native of this Otherworld—it was an Otherworldly Lord!
